Stroll through the former foreign settlements <Akashicho neighborhood>

[whatever] May 28, 2013 08:13

Walking outside in thin clothes has finally become a pleasant season. After all, it is the season when plants bud, and both mind and body are fine.

One weekend when I first experienced recording at Chuo FM (84.0MHz) in Kyobashi, one of the correspondent's activities. The blue sky was pleasant, so I thought it would be wasteful to return home as it was, so I decided to walk toward Tsukiji.

Recently, I like to stroll around the Akashicho area and the former Tsukiji foreign settlement. Especially around the Toysler Memorial Hall and St. Luke's International Hospital, there is a lot of greenery, and I'm looking forward to reading books, buying bread at a nearby bakery, and filling my stomach. Sometimes I encounter people who are depicting the scenery around here in earnest, but I don't have a picture, and I envy you gently peek from behind.
There are many Historic buildings and monuments in this area, but this time I would like to introduce the plants I saw instead of those explanations.

teusler.JPG First, geranium (foreground) and rosemary near the entrance of the Toysler Memorial Hall. The soft pink geranium seems to have just begun to bloom. Rosemary is growing vigorously with new leaves, and when stroked, the stimulating scent moves to your hand. The sharp scent of rosemary has the effect of refreshing your head. It goes well with meat dishes. Is this fringe lavender? It seems to be growing rapidly, and it seems that the buds will come from now on. There were also different types of lavender that had already bloomed. The dignified figure of Ayame is very beautiful. A rose of Hanabusa like a ball. I don't know the name, but it was so cute. In addition, there were many bright yellow flowers and light purple flowers (I'm sorry, I don't know the name).

A pomegranate tree that grows beside the brook that flows next to the memorial hall. Flowers are beginning to bloom. And here, which was covered by a signboard near St. Luke's International Hospital Children's General Medical Center, is it a peach instead of a plum (Isn't it different)? I would like to see both of them grow up to harvest.

sisgnboard.JPGAnd there is a standing sign (back side) on the flower bed in front of the center. 'Laboratory of Plant Assisted Therapy TOKYO UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE' is written. Upon examination, it seems that there is a plant intervening therapy laboratory at the Faculty of Agriculture, Tokyo University of Agriculture.
Cherry sage and margaret were in full bloom in this flowerbed. The contrast between white and red of the cherry sage is lovely. It may be raised carefully by hospitalized patients.

And so many plants entertain your eyes and minds.

church.jpgThere is also Catholic Tsukiji Church Cathedral in Tangible Cultural Property, which is close to the Toysler Memorial Hall. The outer wall in front of the roof has beautiful reliefs of roses and tulips.

The Sumida River and Tsukiji Market are also close, so please add it to one of your walking courses. There's a new discovery.♪

"Let's see the moon and Saturn!" <Time Dome Akashi>

[whatever] May 20, 2013 08:33

Various astronomical events are held at Time Dome Akashi, a planetarium hall in Akashicho's Local Tenmonkan.

May 18 (Saturday) event "Let's see the Moon and Saturn!" I applied in advance and was notified of the winning, so I participated. At 6:00 pm reception starts, first at the planetarium hall on the 6th floor, a commentator will explain the celestial body seen on that day. He told me what direction the moon and Saturn look in, and the constellations that can be seen in this season at the same time. The planetarium has been to the planetarium in Shibuya since I was in kindergarten. It is somewhat nostalgic and exciting to look for constellations in the night sky while looking at the star chart.

While being explained at the planetarium hall, on the rooftop where the astronomical telescope was installed, the person in charge was checking until just before whether it could be seen. On this day, it was warm and cheerful during the day, and it was pleasant enough to spend a short sleeve, but the wind began to blow near the evening and clouds came out. For the time being, I went up to the rooftop because I could see it, and when I looked at it with the naked eye, the moon was hazy, but the crater was clearly confirmed with the astronomical telescope. By the way, the astronomical telescope was made by MEADE (Mead). The stars could not be easily seen with the naked eye, but we barely began to see what glowing above the St. Luke's Tower, so we quickly changed the direction of the telescope and connected them until Saturn appeared. We confirmed the first-class star "Ark Tors", which is part of the constellation Virginia and part of the large curve in spring. It glowed orange and sparkling!

The clouds were not easy to cut, the wind became strong and cold, the end time was approaching, and when I gave up saying that it was impossible today, I finally saw something that glowed in the appropriate direction! When I turned the direction of the astronomical telescope to Saturn again, I saw it! ! Is it just about 2mm? However, I was able to confirm the ring firmly!

Hospitals and high-rise apartments are lined up around the area, so participants could not take photos due to consideration for the neighborhood, and unfortunately I could not tell the state of the viewing party, but there were many parents and children. In addition, this astronomical observatory is limited to those who live or work in Chuo-ku, but there are many events that anyone can participate, so if you are interested in astronomy, please check the annual schedule and participate Please give me!

Let's run, play and get along! <Wanwan Square>

[whatever] May 10, 2013 09:00

In the ward, there is a playground for dogs called "Wanwan Square", which effectively uses a part of the Sumida River Terrace and under the bridge. It can be used not only by central residents but also by anyone (free).

dogrun8.jpg Wanwan Square on the Sumida River Terrace near Hamacho Park is located in Shinohashi Nishizume. It is a long and narrow dog run, and
it is divided into two sections, a small dog area and a free area, so that you can enter from separate entrances.
When friends who keep small dogs use it, they go together, but in this square many dogs are always playing well. I've used it several times, but I haven't seen any dogs that are annoying to other users or neighbors, such as fighting or barking. When you enter the square, dogs kunk their noses and greet them. It seems that there are many owners who already know you. He stares at the owner with an eye that appeals, "Let's play early!", And when he throws the ball, he moves to pick it up just as he waited. It seems that the dogs are happy to be able to run as much as possible without wearing the lead, and this is also a smile.dogrun2.jpg
The area is separated, but for example, if you are a dog with a slightly smaller body and enter a small dog area but atrophy with other dogs who are too energetic, there is a large dog with a relatively calm personality. You will not be warned when you move to the free area. Of course, you need to look at the situation, but it doesn't seem to be so strict. There are also guards, so I think you can use it with confidence. In addition, if a dog has rough appearance in the area, each owner will take measures such as sucking it with a pee sheet or flushing it with water in a plastic bottle.
As I walked along the Sumida River from Wanwan Square to Kiyosubashi, poppies overflowing from the flowerbed were blooming colorfully (pictured).

dogrun4.JPGThis is Wanwan Square next to Tsukiji River Park. It's just under the Irifune Bridge. There were no users on this day. This is also divided into a small dog area or a free area.
It is not a long and narrow flat dog run like Hamacho, but there are some slopes, so this seems to be a good run. Next to the square, basketball goals were set up, which were used by many people, such as junior and senior high school students and parents and children.

Why don't you use it to eliminate your dog's lack of exercise? Interacting with other dogs is likely to be a good training to improve sociality.
