In search of coolness in Ningyocho <Judo Hiyokan>

[whatever] July 25, 2013 14:00

The intense heat of the day after the rainy season has eased a little, and the days when it is easy to spend for a while, but if the day goes higher, the house will be humid. The news that there are surprisingly many heat stroke indoors crossed my head, reminded me of a sticker next to the entrance of Kotobukido in Ningyocho, and started preparing for coolness.

Judo is located along Ningyocho-dori Street, and famous confectionery called "Koganeimo" is a signboard product, and when you pass near the shop, you have a slight scent of nikki. However, the aim of this time is "Koori Yokan".
What is ice yokan? While imagining that it's like an azuki bar ... and imagining this, I ordered three bottles to the shop. The real thing that came out of the freezer was a cute, yokan stuck in a bamboo skewer. He shouted, "Oh!" In his heart, and paid and rushed home.

The size is 1-2cm square, about 7cm long. Refreshing texture, non-sticky, elegant sweetness. It didn't melt and collapse, and it was a crisp and crisp taste. Put up with 2 or 3 bottles and where you want to eat, and the remaining 2 bottles go to the freezer. Please take care of it again on a hot day.

In early August, Ningyocho Street will be held. Ice yokan is a summer-only product, so please enjoy a moment of coolness with ice yokan when you come.

Coffee shop specializing in takeout <MAHALO>

[whatever] July 12, 2013 14:00

The rainy season is over again this year, and it is summer performance. In the intense heat of the day, you can hear voices saying, "No, it's hot, I've come." In such a case, I want to get cool at once with a cold drink.

You can enjoy delicious Hawaiian coffee at MAHALO, a coffee shop specializing in takeout in Ningyocho. By the way, 'Mahalo' used in the store name means "thank you" or "thank you" in Hawaiian, and I hear that it is used in place instead of 'Thank you'.

Weekdays are closed at 6:30 in the evening, so I often use it on weekends when work is closed. It's very helpful to be open on weekends. As an aside, there are many restaurants in Chuo-ku that are not open on weekends and holidays (although the area around Ginza). Even a big coffee shop is usually closed on weekends.

It specializes in takeout, but there is a space where you can stand and drink at the storefront (about 2 to 3 people). It was okay to bring a dog. The cooler works and it's cool. In winter, there was a heater at my feet. There is a place where you enter the Ningyocho street a little side, but the clerk always has "Hello ~" and to those who pass by the front of the shop comfortably.

We also sell Hawaiian mineral water and mini-sized chocolate bars. I like the balance between bitterness and sweetness, so I always order "Cafe Mocha", but this time it would be nice to cool down with the "Frozen ○○○" menu.

Herb Recycling Class <Hot Plaza Harumi>

[whatever] July 8, 2013 08:36

At the end of June, I participated in the "Herb Recycling Class" held at Plaza Harumi and experienced making lavender sticks.

Hot Plaza Harumi is a public facility in Chuo-ku with training facilities such as a heated pool and jacuzzi and restaurants. The lavender used this time is blooming in the rooftop garden on the 4th floor of this facility. In addition to lavender, rosemary and others were growing vigorously. Since it was "recycling", each participant helped pruning several bottles at a time, and used them to create lavender sticks.

I think it's better to use freshly cut lavender. It is said that if you take time, the water will fly and the stem will be easily broken, making it difficult to handle. Since the ribbon is passed alternately, the point is to use an odd book lavender. In the classroom, I worked with 9 students. First, we temporarily summarize the entire spike with a sewing thread from the base of the bundled lavender spike.

herb4.jpg It is a 5-6mm wide ribbon, and from the bottom of the spike (remaining about 20cm of the ribbon) is folded to 180 ° and knit through the ribbon so as to wrap the spike. The first two or three steps are not quite beautiful, but they get used to it soon. I took a picture of the teacher who helped me. It is said that it is better not too tight and the gap between the ribbons is not empty.

Finally, during the craft work, we collected small buds that were spilled out, put them in a disposable tea bag, and took them home. If you dry it, you can enjoy the scent as well.

Last winter, he created a Christmas candle made from recycled rosemary.

I grew herbs at my parents' home, but I had never reused them for craft, so I learned how to make it this time and it was very helpful.

This herb recycling class was an event that required prior application, but the facilities in Plaza Harumi can be used at a low price not only by residents in the city but also by residents outside the city. It seems that you can easily solve the lack of exercise.
