April 1: Five Cherry Blossoms

[Edo Tabi Taro] April 3, 2014 14:00

It is Edo Tatataro who became a correspondent of the Chuo-ku Tourism Association from April.

We walk in Chuo-ku and want to tell you various sights that we saw. Thank you very much.

This time, I would like to introduce five cherry blossoms when I walked from Ginza to Nihonbashi on the afternoon of April 1 (Tuesday).

■Shokawa Sakura II (Power Development Head Office 6-15-1 Higashi Ginza, Higashi-Ginza tree planted in 2010)

I couldn't see the cherry blossoms again this year (please bloom as soon as possible!) 。

Shogawa Sakura is two Furuki trees, about 450 years old, in Sokawamachi, Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture. This cherry tree was destined to die to the bottom of the water for the construction of the Miboro Dam.

The construction of the dam was planned. Tatsunosuke Takasaki, the first governor, regrets the cherry blossoms after the seven-year negotiations with the Miboro Dam Absolute Opposition Alliance Surveillance Association were completed.

I asked Shintaro Sasabe, one of Japan's best cherry blossom researchers, to transplant it.

It weighs 73 tons. Travel distance 600m. The height difference is 50m.

The cherry blossoms with only the transplanted trunk were beaten by local people, plant researchers, and the media, saying, "The fool that cuts the cherry blossoms (cutting the branches unnecessarily wither)"

The old cherry blossoms bloomed again. It was a miracle.

About Shokawa Sakura II, it is as follows on the website of power supply development.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Electric Power Development (Electric Power Development), the Shogawa Sakura II Planting Project has been implemented since 2002. (Omitted) The purpose of this activity is to create the soul left by Tatsunosuke Takasaki, "Development is necessary in order to carry out human activities, but the spirit of considering and cherishing the natural environment as much as possible." I tried to grow up in the hearts of children through Sakura. The specific content is to raise the seedlings that have actually picked up and germinated the seeds of Shogawa Sakura to a seedling of about 1 meter, put them in a pot, and donate them together with a nameplate that spells the name of Shogawa Sakura. In the place where the seedlings are growing, a nameplate is set up, and the Shogawa Sakura is explained.

■Akuni Sakura (Kabuki-za 5th floor rooftop garden)

The Kabukiza Theater was completed last year. Akuni cherry blossoms on the rooftop garden on the 5th floor still had many buds.
