This time, I would like to introduce the retro tofu shop "Takayanagi Tofu Shop" in Ningyocho.
I entered the alley on the way from the intersection of amazake Yokocho toward Tokyo Metro Suitengumae Station.
Founded in 1927, it is a long-established store that has been running for four generations to date.
The exterior is a retro copper-plated signboard construction (*) with a taste, and there is no plan to rebuild it at this time.
(*) Architectural style often seen during the reconstruction period following the Great Kanto Earthquake. The feature is that the front of the building is flat, and it is finished with a copper plate from the viewpoint of fire prevention.
The tofu shop is early in the morning, and for customers who come to buy tofu for breakfast, we open a shop around 5:00 in the early morning and start making tofu. According to the shop owner, "In the past, a nearby public bath was opened around 2 o'clock in the middle of the night when the business was closed."
There are about 30 types of tofu to be sold, such as Kinu tofu, Momen tofu, fried tofu, edama tofu with green soybeans, and sesame tofu with sesame. It seems that there are many customers who want tastes that are not available at supermarkets and convenience stores.
A long-established specialty store is still alive in Chuo-ku. Why don't you enjoy the special taste of the specialty store?
