Date and time of presentation: Friday, April 28, 2017 14:00

From April 28, 2017 (Friday), the Geographical Survey Institute's web map "Geographical Institute Map"Above, pre-war aerial photographs of the 23 wards of Tokyo around 1936 (Showa 11) have come to be seen overlaid with current maps and aerial photographs of each age.

The Geographical Survey Institute (GSI) has released 519 aerial photographs in the 23 wards of Tokyo (excluding a part of Setagaya-ku), which had been released on Friday, April 28 on a single-sheet basis on the Geographical Survey Institute site. Has been released from the Geographical Survey Institute Map so that the position does not shift from the current map. The aerial photograph to be released this time is the oldest aerial photograph owned by the Geographical Survey Institute and whose shooting time is known.
This is the first time that you can see such a large pre-war aerial photograph on a web map of Japan, and it is expected to be used in situations such as surveying old land and school education in the future.
In some cases, aerial photographs are painted in white or black, and there are parts where the situation is unknown, but this is derived from the original aerial photographs taken before the war.
