I am currently 72 years old. I graduated from Sakamoto Elementary School in Chuo Ward, where both my father and mother graduated 60 years ago. Junior high schools were closed due to a decrease in the number of students at Momijigawa Junior High School, merged with Nihonbashi Junior High School and Arima Junior High School, and are in a state of "None" for me. . I'm lonely. Similarly, despite the decrease in children, I want the existing Sakamoto Elementary School to remain for a long time. It was said that the school building (reinforced concrete) of the reconstruction elementary school after the Great Kanto Earthquake was destroyed and moved to a new school building in early 2019 (2019), so I was asked to show the current school building. Despite being about a 3-minute walk from my office (where I was born and raised), I never visited after graduation, so I got permission and looked inside.
(Because it's noisy these days, I can't go in without permission.)
Except for "the kindergarten has disappeared and the location of the janitor's room has changed," the basic layout has not changed, so I walked around "by alone" while remembering 60 years ago. (I think you have allowed me well.)
I would like to thank the principal and other stakeholders for giving me the opportunity to visit Sakamoto Elementary School.
[History of Sakamoto Elementary School]
This school was opened in May 1873 (1873) in the former residence of the Hosokawa family of Kumamoto feudal lord. It may be hanging on some Kuki Shikibu residences. It seems that this area was named Sakamoto Elementary School because there is a town named Sakamotocho next to it, but now Sakamotocho does not exist and it is Kabuto-cho. (The reason why it became "Osaka" is unknown.)
The number of students at the time of opening the school was 36, but it increased to 267 in April 1874 when the wooden school building was newly built. In 1880, the school name was called Sakamoto Elementary School and the Women's Elementary School. In 1889, the male school building was removed and merged into the female school building, and men and women classes were set every other day. (Even at school, men and women are "6" years old and do not have the same seats.) At this time, a new school building on the second floor of the wooden building was completed.
September 1, 1923 The Great Kanto Earthquake caused Luo disaster. The school building is completely burned down. The city of Tokyo recognized the importance of school building through rescue and rescue activities after the disaster, and rushed to construct a "Reconstruction Elementary School" jointly designed by the School Construction Division of the Tokyo City Temporary Construction Bureau. In Chuo-ku, in addition to Sakamoto Elementary School, Akashi Elementary School, Joto Elementary School, Yasuaki Elementary School, Chuo Elementary School, Tokiwa Elementary School, Keika Elementary School, Jushi Elementary School, etc. still retain the architectural style of the time. It seems that the construction method of the reconstruction elementary school has been reviewed, and the preservation movement has been lifted.
Completed a three-story reinforced concrete school building in 1928
It was 89 years old, and the school building of the time is still used today. It's a pity that it's gone. (Because the blueprint for the new school building has not yet been made, it is unknown whether a part of the current school building will be preserved.)
February 125th anniversary ceremony of 1999 (It seems to have been held in the auditorium)

The statue at the entrance is titled "Girl" and works by Masamichi Yamamoto.

At present, Mount Fuji is not visible, and the Momiji River (Momiji River) is reclaimed, and the expressway is lonely. Only school songs have been sung as much as 60 years ago.
At present, the total number of students at all schools is 157, 86 boys and 71 girls. The school districts are Kabuto-cho and Kayabacho, but it is thought that there are about half of students from outside the school district. Sixty years ago, there were only students in the school district, and the number of students per 6 years was 55, one class. We accept students outside the school district and do our best not to close the school.
[Renovation of school building]
According to the Kentsu Shimbun published on February 15, 2016, 2016.
"We plan to build a new school building with a total floor area of approximately 14,000 square meters, two basement floors above ground, six floors above ground, and to relocate Joto Elementary School, which will be rebuilt integrally by redevelopment of another land for a certain period. We accept participation statement from February 25 to March 2 for qualified bidders of architectural design, from March 22 to April 1, the technical proposal from March 22 to April 1, the prospect of mid-April And sign a contract. We order main construction as the second ward assembly ordinary assembly proposal item in 2017 and complete in February 2019 and aim at opening the school in April of the same year. The current school building of Sakamoto Elementary School (15-18, Nihonbashi Kabutocho, site area 3370 square meters) is three floors above ground and a total of 3667 square meters above ground. Completed in 1928, it was developed along with the adjacent Sakamotocho Park (15no3, Nihonbashi Kabutocho, 5009 square meters in area) as a reconstruction project following the Great Kanto Earthquake. Since the building is aging and renovation is being carried out almost every year, renovation will be made to secure a good educational environment. In order to relocate Joto Elementary School (Yaesu 2-chome 1 district), which will be integrated with the redevelopment of the Yaesu 2-chome 1 district, until FY2009, 18 new school buildings will be prepared as ordinary classrooms for two schools at the time of completion. There will also be six nursery rooms in authorized child institution Sakamoto (tentative name). In FY2016, temporary school buildings for Sakamoto Elementary School and Joto Elementary School were set up in Sakamotocho Park in parallel with the basic and implementation design of the new school building. The current school building of Sakamoto Elementary School will be dismantled and a new school building will be constructed in FY2017-2018, and Sakamotocho Park will be restored in FY2019 after the temporary school building is removed. The maximum contract amount for basic and implementation design work is 176.1 million yen (including tax). It will be included in the budget for FY2016 and will be paid for the results during the implementation period from mid-April to March 15, 2017. Through the propo procedure, we will seek technical proposals regarding "the image of facilities at Sakamoto Elementary School and Sakamoto Certified Children's Garden (tentative name)". "
The current schedule is as follows. I visited Sakamoto Elementary School on June 30, 2017, but it seems that there is a considerable delay because the current school building is present and classes are being held.
End of FY2016: Temporary school building is scheduled to be completed
At the beginning of FY2017: Move to a temporary school building
FY2017: Demolition of the current school building started
End of FY2018 (March 2019): Classes in temporary school buildings
Early FY2019: Move to a new school building
[School Layout]
Supervisor's Office (Is it an old janitor's office?) Except for the location of the kindergarten, the presence or absence of a kindergarten, and the location of the lunch room, the layout was unchanged from 60 years ago. I can't believe it!
Let's introduce some of the existing old-fashioned school buildings:
It is a wooden stairs at the end of the entrance and turns left, and a corridor on the 2nd floor.
I took a look at the playground from the second floor. As was the case 60 years ago, the impression of "narrow" is the same. As you can see, you can't get a straight course even when you run a race. The ground is concrete, so if you fall, you will definitely get hurt. When you race, there are always two corners set, so I felt very dangerous 60 years ago, but it has not changed at all. The photo on the right is from the time of the athletic meet. Even if it's narrow, it's something.
For me, the most impressive thing at Sakamoto Elementary School is the "old ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ '' ginkgo tree and the auditorium. Ginkgo trees may be higher than school buildings. I think that the diameter was 50-60cm even 60 years ago, so it may have been in the Hosokawa residence era. More than 200 years old?
The auditorium has become a gymnasium while retaining its remnants. The stage used as a gathering is the same as it was 60 years ago. It is shown at the right end of the photo.
