Ukiyo-e is emo! What is it? [Nihonbashikayabacho]

[GPP] April 3, 2017 14:00

In the past, at Kyobashi 1-chome, Chuo-ku, there was a residence of the popular ukiyo-e artist Hiroshige Utagawa. From Hiroshige Utagawa's masterpiece "Hundred Famous Views of Edo", you can learn about Edo's famous places and the state of the city, and the lives of the people at that time. Ukiyo-e is not only a work of art, but also a material that tells the times.

The "Suber Ukiyo-e Edo Secret Exhibition" (January 28-May 21, 2017 Nihonbashikayabacho), which I visited the other day, was unusual. Ukiyo-e, digitally processed and moving like animation, was enjoyed with Ainosuke Kataoka's narration and sound effects.
