Tamiya Oiwa Inari Shrine in Shinkawa (left and right in the photo) inherits the tradition of "Oiwa-san", known for "Tokaido Yotsuya Kaidan". Originally, Iwaine cargo was not enshrined in ghost stories or ghosts.
According to the company's origins, the rocks of the Tamiya family living in Yotsuya Samoncho and the Izaemon family lived a hard life with a low salary. For this reason, it is said that the savings increased due to the fact that they went to service and worshiped the mansion on a daily basis. The rock died in 1636 at the age of 36. Therefore, we built a shrine of "Iwaine Shiri" so that people could visit it. In 1717 (1717), he promoted "Iwaine-ri" and became "Oiwa Inarisha". Since then, it has also been called "Yotsuya Inari" or "Samoncho Inari", and it has gained the popularity of Edo as a good luck and disaster relief.
In 1825 (1825), 189 years after the death of Oiwa, the fourth generation Nanboku Tsuruya's "Tokaido Yotsuya Kaidan" was premiered at Nakamuraza. It is said that Kikugoro Onoe, the third generation in "Iwa", and the seventh generation Danjuro Ichikawa played "Iyemon". In fact, the origin of this work was that it was listed in "Yotsuya Talks". It is said to have been created as ghost stories about the incident that occurred in Genroku period.
The author, Nanboku Tsuruya, was born in 1755 (1755) in Nihonbashi Shin-Morimachi (now Nihonbashi Horidome). His father was a model craftsman of Konya, but he chose the path as a Kyogen writer and named the fourth in 1811 (1811). It was called "Daikoku" because it left masterpieces such as "Tokaido Yotsuya Kaidan". He died in 1829 (1829) at his home in Kurofune Inari, Fukagawa. He was 75 years old. Currently, an explanation board is installed at Inari Shrine in Peony, Koto-ku (lower right photo).
Tamiya Oiwa Inari Shrine in Shinkawa received a request from the actor Sadanji Ichikawa that "Yotsuya is too far away, so I want you to move near Shintomi-za," and shrine hall in Yotsuya Samoncho was destroyed by fire in 1879. The stone torii gate on the precincts was built in 1897 (1897), and Baidu stone is the oldest surviving in the ward, both.
