Chuo-ku new discovery! With the catchphrase, the “Town Walking Tour 2012” hosted by the Chuo-ku Tourism Association has finally started in July. The first "Nihonbashi Long-established Course (1)" of "Industrial Course", which visits long-established stores, markets, and galleries, was held on July 10.
On this day, participants who were elected from among the applicants gathered in front of "Kiya" on the first floor of Cored Muromachi, and there were also applicants from other wards, including Chuo Ward residents. We are waiting for you to leave a tour of three long-established stores in Edo Nihonbashi.
The first "Kyumono Kiya" was a knife specialty store since the Edo period, and was explained about the origin of the store, which is depicted in "Kidai Shoran", also known as the Nihonbashi prosperity picture scroll (pictured above).
Next, I visited "Yamamoto-noriten", which was walking south toward Nihonbashi. It is known for "Yamamoto Nori of Maruume Mark if Nori". There was talk about the history of the shop and knowledge of seaweed (center of the photo).
Finally, we visited Lacquerware Kuroeya, the second floor of a building on the southwest side, across Nihonbashi, after passing through the Nihonbashi Fish Bank Site. After visiting "giboshi in Nihonbashi" in the show window on the first floor, we asked a commentary at the store on the second floor where lacquerware was lined up (bottom photo).
After about two hours of tour, the participants commented, "It was very fun to visit a long-established store that is usually hard to drop in." ●Akira Makibuchi
