Statue of Mitsukoshi Lion

[Mido] March 18, 2016 16:00

Mitsukoshi is a department store with 2 stores in Chuo-ku (Nihonbashi / Ginza).
And the lion statue at the front entrance is a symbol of Mitsukoshi.
It's a spot.

The statue was born in 1914 (1914), and was at Mitsukoshi Department Store.
Ousuke Hibi, the manager of the time, who is said to have laid the foundation, prepares for opening a department store.
For this reason, when I visited Europe and the United States, I ordered this "Lion statue" at U.K.
That's right. Four lion statues in Trafalgar Square in London
Is a model, and it is said that it took three years to complete.

By the way, this statue of the Mitsukoshi Lion is sometimes disguised.
It is not regular, but disguise when there is an event or entertainment.
I'll do it. It looks like a change of clothes for Peko in Fujiya, and when I discover it
I'm glad. When you stop by Mitsukoshi, you will see a lion statue.
Please check it out.
