R0018149RSG.JPGR0018147LS.JPG  As the fifth installment of "Ginza Flower Letters", which started in May 2011, Ginza Sony Building exhibited 2,200 colorful domestic carnations of 34 types (upper right photo) at the entrance hall on the 1st floor of the building, including 200 carnations produced in Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture, affected by Great East Japan Earthquake.

The theme is "The bond between mother and child."

Mother's Day is no good.

This year, Carnation will also play the role of a messenger that conveys the heart of "thank you".

Spring Color Competition <Ishikawajima Park>

[Sam] April 11, 2012 08:30

R0018097RSG.JPGR0018010LS.JPG Ishikawajima Park extends along the Sumida River and Harumi Canal from Chuo-ohashi Bridge across Aioi Bridge.

This year, probably due to the weather, the vegetation gradually blooms all at once, and it is just spring atmosphere.

Flower color competition of various rose family plants will delight your eyes.

Genpei peach (Genpei peach) is a flower peach that has been improved for ornamental use. One plant blooms red, white, light red, and squeezed flowers, and is glossy.

Some of the chrysanthemum peaches, a kind of dark pink flower peach with chrysanthemum-like flowers, have begun to bloom.

Invited by the soft sunlight, the appearance of people visiting for a walk is also noticeable.

2012 “Kyo no Sakura” <Mikimoto Garden Plaza>

[Sam] April 10, 2012 08:30

R0018049LS.JPG R0018056RSG.JPG This year, Ginza's tradition, "Kyo no Sakura," will be exhibited at Garden Plaza in front of the Ginza Mikimoto Main Store, and it is at its best. (Scheduled by April 16)

An annual project that has been implemented since 1996 (Heisei 8) with the desire to "enjoy the four seasons and nature of Japan in the city of Ginza."

This year's cherry blossoms are "Kirigaya" cherry blossoms raised by the 16th landscaping artist Touemon Sano, who is famous as "Sakuramori". A light pink cherry tree that is characterized by a mixture of single and Yae.

After the exhibition, it is said that it will be donated to public facilities such as schools, kindergartens, nursery schools, welfare facilities, and hospitals after public offering as usual, and planted.

This year, the government hopes to recover and restore the affected areas in Great East Japan Earthquake as soon as possible.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Japan's sending approximately 3,000 cherry blossom seedlings to Washington D.C. as a proof of friendship between Japan and the United States. The company manufactures and donates pearl crowns for the queen of Sakura, selected at the Sakura Festival held in Japan and Washington D.C. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary, a pearl crown for the "Queen of Japan Sakura" is on display on the first floor of the main store. (until April 11)

In addition, in the Ginza area, about 50 rows of cherry blossom trees on Ginza Sakura-dori St., from Sotobori-dori St. to Chuo-dori, are in full bloom at Yoshino cherry tree prior to Yaezakura.

[Sam] April 7, 2012 08:30

R0017982LS.JPG Lily RSG.jpg The season has come in full bloom in the mountains of the city.

pheasant's eye, Japanese allspice, Soshinrobai, Japanese witch hazel, Kibushi, Tosamizuki, Hiugamizuki, Abrachan, Sanshuyu, Renkyo, etc., followed by yellow flower colors in early spring, and Harumi Triton Square's "green terrace" and "flower terrace" in and around it became white.

Hakumokuren, Magnolia kobus, Shidekobushi, Tamushide ... pretty lily of the valley.

Before the glamorous Yoshino cherry tree is in full bloom, the pale and soft sunlight of spring gives a sense of the season.

canola flower and Hamarikyu Garden

[Sam] April 6, 2012 08:30

RIMG2461LS.JPG RIMG2466RSG.JPG This year's cherry blossoms in Tokyo bloom on March 31, five days later than normal and three days later than last year.

Yoshino cherry tree in Hamarikyu Garden also blooms about a week later than last year.

I heard that this weekend will be in full bloom, but this year it is likely that there will be a competition between canola flower and cherry blossoms due to the weather.

In the canola flower field, a lot of brown-eared bulbul is flying around canola flower.

I heard that brown-eared bulbul was originally a winter bird that came around October and passed around April, but in recent years it has become one of the most commonly found birds in urban areas, as well as parks with satoyama and trees.

During the non-breeding season, they forage mainly fruits, leaves and buds, prefer nectar, and prey on insects in breeding season.

The lower left photo shows the view of "Hamarikyu Onshi Garden canola flower Field" from the 46th floor of the Dentsu Headquarters Building.
