A gorgeous cruise of more than a dozen doll floats, including the floats of the Shizuka Gozen, which had attended the Sanno Festival during the Edo period.Tochigi-shiIt was held at the center of "Kura no Machi Odori". It's Tochigi Autumn Festival.
The festival is said to be held every other year, but this year (2010) is the year of the event, and it was held for two days on Saturday, November 13 and 14 (Sun).
As a supporter of the guide, I will also participate in the event of "Good Tochigi float festival watching".
On the first day (November 13), I saw a tour of doll floats [Reference 1] such as "Shizuka Gozen" owned by the town of Nihonbashi.
Take the limited express at 10:30 at Tobu Asakusa Station and arrive at Tochigi Station in about 1 hour and 10 minutes.
The festival started at 14:30, so we had a walk around the city until then.
[Introduction of the city]
In the city, there are old warehouses (Tozo) everywhere, and you can see many dashigeta-style houses. It seems to have returned in the days of the Meiji and Taisho eras.
Many of these are designated as cultural properties of Tangible Cultural Property and prefecture registered by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
At the center of the city is the Uzuma River, a clear stream with a calm flow.
The guests who came to the festival were placed on a river boat, and the boatman was manipulating the pole while showing stories about the land folk song and warehouses.
Algae fluttering on the riverbed, and many carps are swimming. When you look at it, you can feel the flow of relaxing time.
Tochigi-shiPlease refer to [Reference 2] for the history of the city.
[Tochigi Autumn Festival]
At the opening ceremony (departure ceremony)Tochigi-shiThere was a greeting from Mayor Toshimi Suzuki.
"This autumn festival was a new life that merged three neighboring towns in March to nearly double the population of 140,000.Tochigi-shiIt was very significant at the first Tochigi Autumn Festival.
It is also called Koedo.Kawagoe-shiOldSawara-shiYeahChuo-ku、Sumida-kuI have a wide range of relationships.
There were greetings like this.
Mr. Katori City as a guestKasukabe-shiAnd so on.
Deputy mayor from Chuo-kuChuo-kuHiroshi Suzuki, Director of Culture and Lifelong Learning Division, was introduced.
As a large number of spectators sing along the sidewalks on both sides, a gorgeous doll float cruise began.
On the floats of the "Shizuka Gozen" I wanted, there was a tag of "Moto Edo Sanno Festival 9th float" [Reference 3] next to the drum seats.
Looking at the appearance of a large number of floats cruising, I feel like I saw the Sanno Festival in the Edo period.
There is a picture of "Kojimachi 1-chome Sanno Festival Nerigome" in Hiroshige Utagawa's "Hundred Famous Views of Edo", with floats.
It depicts how Hanzomon to Edo Castle through the Sakurada moat.
Looking at this Tochigi Autumn Festival, I couldn't help but wonder how gorgeous and magnificent the procession of 45 7m-high doll floats used at the Tenka Festival at that time was.
And I was happy and deeply moved to see the floats of "Shizuka Gozen" owned by Nihonbashi.
"Koedo" with interaction with Chuo-kuTochigi-shiWhy don't you visit us once?
[Reference 1] Floats in Tochigi
The floats of "Shizuka Gozen" (Note), which went to the "Tochigi Autumn Festival" during the Edo period Tenka Festival "Sanno Festival", were owned by the town of Nihonbashi, and were purchased by Yamato-cho 3-chome in Tochigi in the early Meiji era.
(Note) Shizuka Gozen: Minamoto no Yoshitsune's darling is the white beat of Kyoto (a prostitute who performs singing and dancing from the Heian period to the Kamakura period). Captured by Yoritomo, on the stage of Kamakura's Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, he dropped a sword to Tachi Eboshi, and said, "Shizuyashizu, Shizu, repeated, and once again, I'm going to do it now. "
Shizuka Gozen dolls are said to have been created by Shounsai Tokuyama in the first year of Kaei (1848), and are the oldest floats in Tochigi.
In addition, there are floats of "Liu Pei", "Kanba", and "Zhanghi" (Chohi) of Mikunishi, which are for the celebration of the prefecture in 1893 (Meiji 26) It seems to have been produced by requesting the puppeteer "Third Generation Gesshu Hara" in Nihonbashi Motoishi-cho.
And "Amaterasu Omikami" (Amaterasu Omikami), "Yamato Takeru" (the only thing to beat Yamato)
There are also floats of Susano Naruson, Emperor Jimmu, Taiko Hideyoshi, and Momotaro. It is a tangible folk cultural property designated by the prefecture, along with Shizuka Gozen and Mikuni Shi.
The photo on the left shows the floats of Amaterasu Omikami.
In addition, there are floats such as "Isakodori", "Benkei", and "Emperor Nintoku", which are registered in the city designated Tangible Cultural Property.
These floats are not owned by prefectures and cities, but are owned and maintained by each town council.
Tochigi floats are called "Edo-shaped doll floats", and the curtains covering the floats are gold and silver threads, and each float has a gorgeous and gorgeous embroidery unique to each float. And a float with a height of about 7m has a double structure that can be raised and lowered to pass through the gate of Edo Castle.
You can always see real floats and images of the Tochigi Autumn Festival at the Tochigi Float Hall on the main street.
[Reference 2] History of Tochigi City-Reiheishi Kaido and Uzuma River shipping
Tochigi City is in Saitama PrefectureKawagoe-shiAnd former Chiba PrefectureSawara-shi(currently Katori City) is called "Koedo".
Shimonokuni during the Edo period was divided into Tochigi Prefecture and Utsunomiya Prefecture in the abolished feudal prefecture of Meiji 4 (1871), but in 1873, two prefectures merged to Tochigi Prefecture, This isTochigi-shiIt is said that the prefectural office was set up and flourished as a political, economic and cultural center.
Then, in 1884, the prefectural office was established.Utsunomiya-shiThe name of the prefecture remained as Tochigi Prefecture.
The name of the prefectural office is left in "Prefectural Office Hori".
In the Edo period, Nikko Toshogu Shrine, which enshrines Ieyasu, and in the Edo period, the Imperial Court visited the Imperial Court every year, and Tochigi developed as a post town on the Reiheishi Kaido (Tochigi-juku: 13th).
It is said that Tochigi merchants flourished during the late Tokugawa shogunate period by transporting goods between Edo using the Uzuma River.
Tochigi's "Kura" still has many storehouses, but there are also Ishikura and Itakura. In addition to the warehouse, there is a store called "Misezo" (Misegura, store storehouse). It seems that there is Japan's oldest misezo in Tochigi.
Tochigi interacted with the ukiyo-e artist Utamaro Kitagawa during the Edo period, and recently discovered three pieces of "Shoki", "Sanpuku God's Sumo", and "Onna Daruma". I have a hand-painted drawing.
[Reference 3] The line of floats for the Sanno Festival in the Edo period
The Sanno Festival was called the Tenka Festival because the Shogun was allowed to see the Shogun together with Kanda festival and was able to enter Edo Castle, and the two festivals were held alternately every other year.
At that time, the procession of the Sanno Festival was led by Osakaki, followed by floats (45 units) and portable shrine (3 units) in each town. It seems that a dance stand (mobile stage) with songs such as Nagauta and Jobanzubushi also participated.
The floats of the Sanno Festival range from the No. 1 Isakodori to the No. 45 Scarlet (1862), but the majority of the floats are present.Chuo-kuIt was created by the towns of Nihonbashi, Ginza, and Shinkawa districts.
The Sanno Festival is also gradually decreasing since it was subject to the thrug of the reform of the Tenpo, but the festival of Bunkyu 2 (1862) is said to be the last Tenka Festival of Shogun's Shoran.
And at the end of Meiji 22 (1889), floats were no longer brought out to the Sanno Festival.
It is said that this is due to the lack of cruising tall floats due to the laying of the overhead line of the city train, and the cost of maintenance and cruising.
And the doll floats seem to have gradually spread throughout the Kanto region.

The famous bridge Nihonbashi will celebrate its 100th anniversary in April next year (2011). Prior to this, repair work began in late July of this year (2010), immediately after the Nihonbashi Washing event, and will end on November 19, about three months later.
It seems that such a full-scale repair work, including the side of the bridge, is the first time since it was bridged in April 1911. It's a rejuvenation at the age of 99.
This repair work was carried out by the Tokyo National Highway Office of the Kanto Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
Once the granite laid on the road surface is removed, etc.
We have been working on measures to prevent water leakage around the paving stones and repair work on degraded or damaged paving stones.
The photo on the left shows repair work on the side of the bridge (upstream side). The stone materials of Nihonbashi are mainly in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is from Inada, but it is said that it is also used from Tokuyama, Yamaguchi, Kanami Yamasan, Ibaraki, and Kitagishima, Okayama.
At the beginning of last month (October), the “Nihonbashi 100-year mining site tour with Inada Mikageishi” sponsored by “Monthly Nihonbashi” was held. He seems to have been well received, and he is planning the second one.
In the last process of Hashigami, on the sidewalk on the upstream side (Mitsukoshi side), a new damaged stone block was compensated.
We performed the work of arranging the removed stone blocks one by one.
The photo on the right shows the "Inada Mikageishi" block (in a plastic bag one by one) with the restored sidewalk and the address of the original location.
During the paving stone construction on the sidewalk of the bridge, we decided to walk around the center of Nihonbashi.
Thanks to that, you can see the square depression in which the "road mark" is embedded in the center of the roadway.
Then, when I looked up at the highway from the center of the bridge, I was able to see the aerial monuments installed between the left and right highways almost directly below.
The repair work will be completed soon.
In parallel with the construction, the Nihonbashi Cleaning Project was launched on November 1 (Monday) by Kercher Japan and the famous bridge Nihonbashi Preservation Society.
In addition, Kercher has been involved in the Statue of Liberty and the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima.
It seems that he has been working on cleaning famous buildings and cultural properties around the world.
Using hot water high-pressure cleaning and powder cleaning (injecting harmless calcium carbonate, etc.)
The side of the bridge and the balustrade will be cleaned by machine over 3 weeks downstream and 3 weeks upstream, and will be completed on December 10 (Fri).
It is true that the plate of "Japan Road Mark" returns to the center of the bridge road. It seems that there will be an announcement of the rejuvenated famous bridge "Nihonbashi" within 2010, but I am looking forward to it.
Then, in April 2011, when the stone-built Nihonbashi “100 Years of Bridge” will be celebrated.
It seems that stakeholders such as the Nabashi "Nihonbashi" Preservation Society (Chairman, Taneo Nakamura, Special Advisor to Mitsukoshi) are considering a commemorative event.
I'm looking forward to this too.
(The photo above was taken in December last year.)
[Reference] About Nihonbashi
As you know, Nihonbashi was built in 1603 (Keicho 8), when Ieyasu Tokugawa's Edo shogunate began. The following year was established as the starting point for five highways (Note).
It has been an important bridge since the Edo period as a Gokogi bridge with giboshi attached to the head of the balustrade of the bridge.
(Note) Five Kaido: Tokaido, Nikko Kaido (Nikko Dochu), Oshu Kaido (Oshu Dochu), Nakasendo, Koshu Kaido (Koshu Dochu)
The area around Nihonbashi was the bustling economic and cultural center of Edo, as seen on "Kyodai Shoran" (displayed at the Mitsukoshi-ma Station concourse on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line) such as the Uogawa Bank and Mitsui Echigoya (the predecessor of Mitsukoshi).
After that, it was burned down by fire, and it was rebuilt repeatedly, and in April 1911, it is said that it will be the 20th generation, but the current stone double arch bridge was built.
Designed by Shinichi Yonemoto (Shinnichi Yonemoto) and design by Yorinaka Tsumaki.
The kanji of the main pillar and the characters of the hiragana were written by Yoshinobu, the last 15th general of Tokugawa.
And since then, he has survived the Great Kanto Earthquake and air raids, and has continued to this day.
As you know, Nihonbashi today is an important cultural property of the country (designated in 1999), and as the starting point of the national highway, the "Japan Road Mark" is installed in the center of the bridge roadway.
Currently, there are seven national highways starting from Nihonbashi.
1 National Route 1 (Tokaido)
2 National Route 4 (Tohoku Expressway)
3 National Route 6 (Joban Expressway)
4 National Route 14 (Keiyo Road/Chiba Kaido)
5 National Route 15 (Daiichi Keihin)

Nov. 8, 2010 08:07
The central zone of Yaesu Underground Shopping Center (Chika Yae) was reopened on November 5 (Fri).
8 new shops, 9 existing shops and center spots are reopened.
By the way, as you may know, there are four petit squares (spots) in "Yae Chika". (Reference 1)
One of them, at the back left of the reopened center spot, a bronze-made "Lucky Porcelino-" was once again rejoined.
(I was driven to the end of this spot during construction ...)
Behind them are new photographs of explanatory panels and museums in Florence.
On the nameplate of the statue, it says "Porcellino" (pork) ...
However, despite sitting, it is a large and splendid male boar (male) boar with a shape and power enough to think that if you put your hand in your mouth, it will be cut off. .
My nose's head is shiny.
"If you stroke your nose head, you will bring good luck," means that everyone passing by stroking for good luck, and as a result, you became golden shiny.
According to the explanation on the panel behind this porcelain statue, there is a real thing made of marble at the Uffizi Museum in Florence, Italy (see Galleria degli Uffizi, [Reference 2]).
It is said that Florence's famous sculptor Pietro Tacca (1577-1640) made only three copies of bronze (replicas).
One is displayed at the entrance of the new market in Florence (Mercato Nuovo) since 1639.
By legend,
After stroking the head of the pornographic nose, put a coin on the tongue of the mouth and the coin into the hole at the foot of the wild boar, "Luck will come."
Or he said, "I have a chance to come back to Florence."
It seems that it has been loved and loved by many tourists all over the world as well as the locals.
(The photo shows a traveler who puts a coin on the tongue of pornographic in a new market in Florence.)
However, I was surprised.
At the beginning of last month (October), treasure hunting event "Chuo-ku Great Investigation Line-chase the legend of Oedo Treasure! On the way home, I'm sorry.
When I was walking around Nihonbashihisamatsucho, I happened to be there.
I met a pornographic statue that looks exactly like Chika Yae in size, figure, and shape.
For a moment, I thought that I was warped from Chika Yae.
I was very surprised. In Japan, I believed that there was only one in Chika Yae.
It was located at the entrance of Pigeon's building, which manufactures and sells childcare and nursing care products.
If you look closely, the difference from Chika Yae's pornographic statue is that you can see.
It looks like a little water comes out of the mouth, and the pedestal has puddles and drains (drainage equipment).
The pedestal is carved and has reliefs such as frogs, crabs, and snakes.
The porcelainian statue itself is the same as that of Chika Yae, but
Looking at the total, including around the water and the pedestal, it seems to be closer to the authentic Florence pornographic statue. It seems to have been produced in July 1975.
So, maybe there is more in Japan, and when I look at it online, the person who looked at the location of the PolyCherino statue (the pursuer?) Yes, it was.
http://sukao.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/2008/03/2007a_porcellin_e5cd.html
According to that person, there are at least 7 places, and all 7 bodies have a shiny nose. What are the seven locations:
1. Hotel the Manhattan in Makuhari, Mihama-ku, Chiba City
2. Porterino Cafe in Sannomiya, Hyogo Prefecture
3. The Uroko House and Urako Museum in Kitano-cho, Chuo-ku, Kobe
4. "Hotel Okura" in Kyoto
5. Pigeon Company in Himatsucho, Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo
6. Center Spot in Yaesu Underground Shopping Center, Chuo-ku, Tokyo Station
7. Hospital in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture
By the way, I thought that this is the only thing in Japan in the world ... and when I checked it online, I found that there are pornographic statues in Itariya and countries other than Japan.
For example, Henri X Square in Paris, Philip X Square in Madrid, in front of Sydney Hospital, and the Buchart Garden in Victoria, Canada. (See [Reference 3])
As mentioned above, I decided to investigate for some reason, but Porcelaino (?), who is loved by people in Japan and the world so much. There are also two bodies in Chuo Ward. I want to share it with you!
If you haven't been to the shiny renewed Yaesu Underground Shopping Center (Chika Yae), please try it. And, along with shopping and gourmet, try to meet the lucky pig (sama) "Porcelino"!
Then in Chika Yae, another statue that must not be forgotten,
・・・ Originally located at the end of the center spot, it was moved to South Spot for renewal work, and finally settled in Chika Yae (Where is it? Go and check it. ) I found it ...
Please see "Jan Jooss Ten Statue", too.
Finally, a word! When you buy a lottery or before taking the exam, it seems confusing, but don't forget to meet "Porturino" and stroke your nose. I'm sure a good thing will happen! That's an O umbrella I want to believe.
[Reference 1] Changed the names of four "spots" and "street" in Chika Yae
From November 5 (Fri), when the central zone of Yae Chika was reopened and opened, the names of the five "streets" have been changed according to "Yaesu Street" and "Sotobori-dori St." on the ground. Please note that.
[Old name] [New name]
Rose Road → Yaesu B1 Street
Lemon Road → Yaesu Underground 2nd Street
Olive Road → outer moat B1 Street
Orange Road → outer moat B2nd Street
Freesia Road → outer moat Underground 3rd Street
(I felt that the old name was difficult to remember, but the new name is easy to understand.)
Please see the photos for the location and streets of the spot.
The shop on the station side (west side) of "Kirapika-dori" in the photo belongs to Tokyo Station in Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, and is not a member of the Yaesu Underground Shopping Center.
For more information about shops and restaurants, please refer to the Yae Chika website.

[Reference 2] Uffizi Gallery
The Uffizi Museum of Art (Galleria degli Uffizi) is located in Florence, Italy, and is said to be the largest museum in Italy in terms of quality and quantity.
It was recognized in 1982 as part of the World Heritage Florence Historical District. (In addition, it seems that Uffizi is the etymology of the English word office.)
The Uffizi Museum is also a collection of art collections from the Medici family, from sculptures from ancient Greece and ancient Roman eras to paintings by Bottichelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Lafaello, and other Italian Renaissance masters, and the previous Gothic era and thereafter are systematically exhibited.
Many of the collections have been seen in history and art textbooks in the past.
"Birth of Venus" (pictured), "Prayer of Dr. Toho" (Sandro Botticelli), "Conception" (Leonardo da Vinci), "Portrait of Mrs. Urbino's wife" (Piero della Francesca), etc.
In addition, recently (2008), Tomoaki Hamada's work, "First Year Hyoi Rhyka Series," is also on display.
By all means, I would like to go there once.
