Ozu Historical Museum

[Shiraji] July 31, 2015 18:00

In Nihonbashi Honmachi, there is a long-established Japanese paper store "Ozu Washi" that has been in business for over 360 years.
It is said that this was the first time that Ozu Seizaemon Nagahiro founded a paper wholesaler "Ozu Seizaemon Store" in Temmacho, a commercial area in Edo (current location) in 1653 in the Shoo era.

The new store, completed in 2015, is surrounded by fences like a store from the Edo period, with Japanese shop curtain at the entrance.

On the first floor, there is a corner called "Washi Experience Studio" where you can experience paper making in front, and on the left hand side is a store where products using Japanese paper and Japanese paper from all over Japan are lined up.

The second floor is the Ozu Cultural Class and the Ozu Gallery, and the third floor is the Ozu Historical Museum and the Mini Museum, which displays the history, raw materials, manufacturing methods and production areas of Japanese paper.

Of course, the "Ozu Historical Museum" is a collection of exhibits that introduce the history of "Ozu Washi", but it seems to be a long-established store that has been in business for more than 360 years, and the exhibits include customs of the Edo period and the lifestyle of merchants.

On the third floor, in addition to the Ozu Historical Museum, there is also a gallery of works made of Japanese paper and a mini-museum where you can gain knowledge about Japanese paper, which is also recommended for elementary school studentsIntangible Cultural Property during summer vacation!

Mr. Banzu gave me a lot of explanations and also showed me a video recording of the process of actually making Japanese paper at the gallery.

Also, on the first floor of the store, you can experience the original handmade Japanese paper experience even by family members, friends or one person (reservation priority).

Japanese calligraphy, Chigiri-e, pressed flowers, seal engraving, Monochrome ink painting, colored pencil drawings, picture letters, calligraphy, incense, dynasty paper, and more. (There is also a 2-hour hands-on workshop.)

Wouldn't it be fun to visit such a mini-museum with your children during summer vacation?

Nihonbashi redevelopment plans, etc.

[CAM] July 15, 2015 14:00

It seems that the promotion plan of Nihonbashi is also progressing in various ways. In recent newspaper information, the following has been noticed.

On May 29, 2015, the Nikkei Sangyo Shimbun featured an article titled "Tokyo Otemachi / Nihonbashi, Office District, and Transformation Chain." According to this article.

>Nihonbashi's attention is the redevelopment of Nihonbashi 2-chome area. The Takashimaya Nihonbashi store, an important cultural property, will be preserved, and the surplus volume will be used to build ultra-high-rise offices in Block A on the east side and Block C on the north side.
The plan is to develop a green migration space centered on the roof of the Takashimaya Nihonbashi store so that the low-rise area continues, and is scheduled to be completed in 18 years.
On the north side, the Nihonbashi 2-chome district north district plan is underway. The Tokyo Nihonbashi Tower, a 180-meter-high skyscraper building with offices and stores, was completed in the spring of 2015. The overall completion is expected to be 17 years.
In the Kyobashi area on the southwest side of Nihonbashi, the redevelopment of the Kyobashi 2-chome west area is underway. The building is planned to be completed in the fall of 2016, while preserving and regenerating the historic building of the designated Tangible Cultural Property in Chuo-ku.

In addition, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun on June 25, 2015 reported in an article entitled "Haneda-City Center, Shortening Routes, Revitalizing Capital and Boat Transportation" as follows.

>By the end of 2015, Tokyo will establish a "shortcut" of the water route connecting Haneda Airport and the city center. Dive into the Ebitori River on the west side of the airport so that many ships can pass. The time to Nihonbashi is expected to be reduced by up to 30 minutes to about 40 minutes compared to the conventional route that bypasses the airport that protrudes to Tokyo Bay. In addition to aiming for regular routes such as sightseeing for the 2020 Olympics, it will also lead to speed up transportation of goods and rescue operations in the event of a disaster.

>If you use the Tokyo Monorail, it takes about 30 minutes from Tokyo Station to Haneda Airport, including the transfer time. For taxis operated by International Motors (Tokyo and Minato), the travel time between Nihonbashi and Haneda takes about 40 to 50 minutes by high speed. If the shortcut of the canal works, it will be possible to travel in about the same time as the land.

Nishi Ginza, which spreads green with gold edges

[Silver] July 13, 2015 14:00

Nishi Ginza Chance Center is said to win lots of lotteries.

Every day, many people make hundreds of meters long queues and buy lotteries at the counter.

Such a familiar sight is also changing a little.

Is it because of the "golden tree"?

Or is it due to the decrease in the number of smokers?

It is unknown when it was named, but as a result of the abolition of smoking areas, it is not clear when it was named.

Trees have regained vitality, and green leaves have grown and grown.

It seems that the first prize winning is increasing at the window in front of the tree named "Golden Tree". (The staff in charge of the guide ...)

I was skeptical of such words, but I bought a lottery.

Do the goddess of luck smile on silver? Or will you carry it again next time? Let's also visit Hachikan Shrine.

Mayfair (Mayfair)

[CAM] July 11, 2015 19:00

If you look at Mayfair with Wikipedia, you can see the following explanation.

>Mayfair is now developing as a commercial district. There are many properties that have been converted into offices by renovating buildings that used to be houses before. There are many companies with headquarters, and it is also known as a district where hedge funds are concentrated in London. The rent is high, but many still live in Mayfair. In addition, there are restaurants and luxury stores, as well as embassies in the United States of America, Grosvenor Square, Royal Academy of Arts, Grosvenor House Hotel, and Craridges.

The title of the musical movie "My Fair Lady" (My Fair Lady) is a cockney accent of this "Mayfair lady".

If you look at the English site, there are also the following explanations.

Mayfair is renowned for its designer shops, like label hunters' paradise Browns, but there are also many specialist shops that offer unique objects that you can't find anywhere else. Grays Antique Market stocks anything from antique and out-of-print books to art. If you'd rather pamper yourself, Mayfair's spas and hair salons are second to none. Guinot Spa provides virtually painless waxing, and Gentlemen's Tonic does modern men's haircuts and shaves with a touch of old-school flair.

Bicycle Ginza Street pushes walk

[Silver] July 11, 2015 19:00

A cool and nice foreigner was walking on Ginza Street by pushing a bicycle.

Parents and children also got along well and were walking by pushing a bicycle.

1436592904356.jpg

Suddenly, when I looked up at the pillars of the sidewalk, I was informed of a yellow banner.

1436610334480.jpg

Yes, Ginza is a city where you can enjoy shopping on foot and window shopping.

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, the number of people using bicycles has increased, but the number of cyclists who drive bad manners, such as those who drive in endless pedestrian crossings, has increased. I want you to try to drive that is friendly to pedestrians.

Before entering the center of Ginza, we recommend that you use a bicycle parking lot at the Ginza Mitsukoshi store.

Please refer to this blog. /archive/2013/11/post-1808.html

The publicity of Chuo-ku on March 21 showed the location of the bicycle parking lot from Yaesu to around Ginza, so please use it.

1436610609020.jpg Let's enjoy the silver bra today as well.

Postscript: I was disappointed that the grandfather turned right from Ginza 8-chome while riding a bicycle, even though foreigners and parents were following the rules.

Triton Square Garden Flower Walk in the rainy season

[kimitaku] July 2, 2015 18:00

I walked around Triton Square in the morning when it rained.

20150626-2.jpgDSC_0395-2.jpgDSC_0410-1.jpg

I usually walk on something fast,

I can't see the flowers at my feet.

DSC_0404-1.jpgDSC_0405-1.jpgDSC_0399-1.jpg

But this morning, perhaps because I had a hard time yesterday.

I wanted to see the flowers of Triton Square for a little bit.

The colorful flowers that are slightly wet in the rain

    I'm looking toward the sky.

Purple, lavender? Red and white ... Petunia ... The bright red canna ...

 Looking far away

A boat enters the Asashio Canal from the Tsukishima River, heads to the Tsukuda Suimon and opens the engine fully ...

The rainy season may continue a little longer. But my heart is hale.

Why don't you walk Triton Square after a little rain when it rains?

The colorful flowers are waiting for you.
