The origin of the company name of Ginza 5-chome madras

[Silver] April 26, 2017 14:00

"madras", a luxury shoe store in Ginza 5-chome

The other day, when I passed in front of the store, I got a leaflet called "The Origin of the madras name".

It's not clear whether this shop or Washington shoe store was the first time I bought shoes in Ginza.

For more than 30 years, the name of this store has been questioning "Why is it the same as the name of the region in India?"

According to the explanation of the leaflet we received,

"The origin of the madras name:

The history of Madras' name goes back to 1946, when Italian Valentino Picolott founded the company alone.

His company has grown to be rewarded for many years of effort and to be recognized as one of the prominent shoe companies in the home of Italy.

The shoes that were produced in the early days were hand-sewn mochasin using high-quality kids. This high-quality material is tanned in Italy, but the raw material was available in the Madras region of India. It is said that the company name was given with respect and appreciation to Madras, the place where this high-quality leather is produced."

My long-standing question was resolved and I was refreshed. I wish you all the best for Mr. Madras.

Concept shop that conveys the scent of wood-GINZA HAKKO tree incense ~

[rosemary sea] April 26, 2017 09:00

It's rosemary sea, which links "gifts and I enjoy myself."

DSC02235a.jpgDSC02231b.jpgGINZA HAKKO Kinoka saw the advertisement published in the April issue of Ginza's information magazine "Ginza Hundred Points" and asked.

We spoke with Mr. Kato and Mr. Motsuka, a designer.

Kinoka sells various wood crafts and miscellaneous goods, such as tools and Shiraki materials necessary for wood burning (described later), and Matryoshka from Russia.

※What is Wood Burning?...

A technique that uses an electric pen to burn trees and draw pictures, patterns, and letters.

The first floor is an event space for exhibiting and selling wooden crafts, and the first basement floor is an event space for special exhibitions and classrooms.

In fact, it is a part of Hakuko Co., Ltd., whose headquarters is located in Naniwa-ku, Osaka, a soldering iron manufacturer, is located.

It seems that this shop was opened about 10 years ago to spread wood burning techniques as a company.

Initially, it was opened in a corner of Chiba Sogo, and then moved to Ginza for the fourth year.

At first, wood burning machines and works were sold, but it seems that Matryoshka was sold because of some concept and interesting things.

Then I'll explain the product.

DSC02238a.jpg

Matryoshka

It is said that the product lineup of matryoshka is the largest in Japan.

For weddings and birthdays, lucky items. This staff is designed and manufactured in Russia.

This item is not a single item, but is always on sale. Paintings are handwritten, so the face is slightly different.

The handmade feeling seems to suit the taste of the person being collected.

I wonder if it's perfect for a gift.

DSC02216a.jpg

Matryoshka

A slightly different species of matryoshka. The folk costumes of each country are depicted.

It is the second from the left of the four lower, the front is a Japanese doll.

Do you feel a little uncomfortable with the Russian people? That's also one of the things.

Walnut doll

It's a German corner.

Wooden toy (Kikkoro)

This is the work of a Japanese artist.

There is also a free service for anniversaries and names for celebrations. It's handwritten with an electric pen.

For details, please check with the store.

Kokeshi doll

It is mainly from Fukushima and Yamagata.

Usaburo Kokeshi doll

Since it is from Gunma, it seems that there is also a work at the nearby Gunma antenna shop "Gunma-chan family (Chi)".

In addition to Ultraman, the character kokeshi is also cute. It was also listed in the April issue of "Ginza Hundred Points".

DSC02229a.jpg

Accessories

It was made in Russia.

The cat in the center of the top is painted with paint, and the lame painted on it is painted on it.

It will also be a gift of Russian taste.

The classroom and event space on the first basement floor will be introduced in a later draft.

Holiday walk in Ginza From 8-chome to 1-chome "Let's love at 4-chome"

[Silver] April 24, 2017 18:00

On April 20th, "GINZA SIX" in Ginza 6-chome opened.

On April 23 (Sun), I took a walk from Ginza 8-chome and entered Ginza Six. The order in which you ride the escalator was not as crowded as the day of opening.

However, when I arrived on the 6th floor and wanted to change to the elevator, I said, "The elevator coming down from the rooftop is waiting for 30 minutes," so I abandoned going to the rooftop.

I went around the art book & cafe/restaurant on the 6th floor. Yayoi Kusama's red and white balloon decorated on the atrium between the 3rd and 4th floors.

DSC05219.JPG

It is said that the logo of "LOVE FOREVER" is drawn on the bottom. It was very nice. I also looked around the store on the first floor. I would like to revisit on weekdays after the major holidays in May.

A catch phrase posted on the wall of Mitsukoshi in Ginza 4-chome. "Let's love at 4-chome" is fashionable.

DSC05229.JPG

In the window around the building, lions are also drawn, ...

DSC05234.JPG

It is a sophisticated catch phrase and window decoration. The young daughters also took pictures of "kawaii".

When I came to Ginza 3-chome, the girls said, "Take a picture of walking in Ginza." From behind it. When I hear the words of my hometown in Ginza, I sometimes feel relieved. It's cute.

DSC05248.JPG

If you want to enjoy the pedestrian paradise slowly, it's Ginza 2 and 1-chome for a while.

In the future, "Let's love in Ginza"

Did you have a word for the game tie?

[Shubo's Ten Hands] April 23, 2017 18:00

Speaking of ties, Taya

Introducing Mr. Taya, which has been operating at Ginza 4-chome since 1905 (1905). He seems to be involved in everything from design to manufacturing and sales to make original ties. The design of the design is very nice, and it is finely woven with ultrafine silk thread. Makes your necktie soft when you tighten it. As expected, Japanese textiles. It seems that Arnold Schwarzenegger also purchased it. The clerk will respond very kindly and politely.

Perfect as a gift for your boyfriend. If you come to Ginza, why don't you stop by?

(I photographed with the permission of the store manager.)

Minatoya Esoshi Paper Store Nihonbashihamacho Store

[Silver] April 21, 2017 09:00

I got off at Hamacho Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line, and I'm looking for it today.

I visited "Yumeji Takehisa Special Gallery Minatoya Ekusa Paper Store".

DSC04975.JPG

When you open the glass door, you will hear a quiet voice and say "Welcome." It's a calm and elegant voice of Kyoto language. Mr. Takako Ohira, my wife, responded.

Does the shop have a connection with Yumeji Takehisa? I asked, but my husband was a big fan of Yumeji Takehisa and started this shop.

Here in Hamacho, it has been more than 20 years since the store opened.

With permission, I photographed Yumeji's work in the store. The original color printing work is very nice. Indeed, it's a Taisho Roman.

DSC04976.JPG

Small items such as postcards are also sold, and it is also friendly to your wallet.

DSC04977.JPG

It is said that a calendar of Yumeji works is released every year.

This time, it's not Yumeji's work, but I bought "Gauze Muffler".

It is similar to the pattern of a kimono that looks like a woman in the picture is wearing. How about "Gauze Muffler" that is gentle to your skin?

DSC05011.JPG

The introduction of the shop can also be found in the monthly Nihonbashi, January 2017 issue, and the Free Paper Nihonbashi Goyomi April issue.

The address of the shop is 2-18-5, Nihonbashi-Hamacho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo (Meijiza-mae), telephone 03-5640-5978.
