Yagenbori Current Higashi Nihonbashi 2-chome neighborhood
Part 1 The origin of Yagenbori
Yagenbori was a digging near Ryogokubashi west stuff, and was named because the shape of the moat resembles Yakken.
Yakken is a boat-shaped device that crushes medicinal species finely (from the Shinmei Dictionary).
2 Yagenbori and chili pepper
It was the beginning that the first Karashiya Tokuemon created Shichimi pepper here, and it has continued since the taste of Edokko at that time came true.
There is an explanation version on the right after going up the stairs of Yagenbori Fudoin. At present, there seems to be one "Oki Togarashi" facing Hamacho Riverside Street. If there is another, gomennasai!
When I asked Ogi Togarashi, it was said that the chili shop in the area of Asakusa sold it under the product name `` Yagenbori '' became very famous. From there, it was transported by boat and unloaded to Yagenbori.
I don't have anything to do now.
No. 3 Yagenbori Fudoin
Yagenbori Fudoin is said to have been built for 420 years this year, and Yagenbori Fudoin is stored in Kuzuro by the large Indian monk capital of Negoro-ji Temple, who met the fire of Hideyoshi Toyotomi in 1585 (1585), guarding the statue and storing it in Kuzuro. Beginning to the eastern country, the temple built on the side of the Sumida River.
Later, Fudoin head priest, who became the Tokyo branch of Hirama-ji in Kawasakidaishi in 1892 (1892), taught me interestingly. During the Edo period, it was very busy because it was adjacent to Ryogoku Hirokoji and also close to the Hanayanagi world of Yanagibashi. The transition from Negoro-ji to Mirokuji and Hirama-ji can't be written on this occasion, so it's not surprising.
By the way, Mr. head priest of Fudoin is actually Kawasakidaishi Hirama-ji head priest, and Mr. head priest Fudoin is said to be the manager of the Tokyo branch in an easy-to-understand manner.
In addition, there are monuments on the grounds of Fudoin Temple, such as the monument commemorating the birth of the monument of the birthplace of Juntendo University, and dedicated talks are held at Fudo-sama fair on the 28th of every month. Free of charge (from the Fudoin brochure)
4 Others
The opposite side of Yagenbori Fudoin used to be Yonezawacho, where many geisha who went to a restaurant street in the vicinity of Yanagibashi lived in the past, and it seems that it was a town with a fairly white powder smell.
It seems that it was such a city roughly like this now, buildings are lined up and you can't sneak the old Edo, but when you enter a narrow alley in the middle, there are shops in some places, and I personally like it to take a walk .
This time, about this
