I've seen the 92nd East

[Chuo Kotaro] May 31, 2016 16:00

On May 21st (Saturday), I saw the east at Shimbashi Enbujo.

Higashidori is a traditional performance that Shimbashi Hanayanagikai performs once a year, celebrating its 92nd anniversary this year.
At first glance, you can get a glimpse of the Hanayanagi world, which usually refuses.
I was really looking forward to it.

In a nutshell, it was "glamorous, beautiful, and cool."
I'd like to go again.

This year's schedule is for four days from May 19 (Thu) to 21 (Sun).
There were two performances on weekdays and three on Saturdays and Sundays, and what I saw was the first Saturday.
It was almost full and I felt how high my interest in traditional culture was.
ck1509_20160530 (1). jpg

The performance starts at 11:30 and you can enter from 11:00. In the lobby from the basement to the second floor
You can buy related souvenirs, and on the second floor there are Don Perinion Bouths and Docha seats.
You can enjoy the atmosphere of the Hanayanagi world. I have a matcha tea in front of a geisha at a tea ceremony.
I had some sweets made from Toraya.
ck1509_20160530 (2). jpg

In addition, advance reservations are required, but Rokuryotei (Tokyo Yoshicho, Shinkiraku, Kanada Naka, Matsuyama, Yonemura, etc.)
You can enjoy the taste of Yamane, wanofu at once, "Shokado Bento" (Tokyo Yoshicho, menu)
You can also get it at the underground dining room "East" (decoration of Shinkiraku).
(Next time, I would like to try this too.)

These events in the lobby can be enjoyed 30 minutes before the stage and 30 minutes before the intermission.

By the way, as for the stage, this year, under the theme of "Shimbashi Farmtajia"
Mr. Jusuke Hanayagi was in charge of the overall production.

The first half is "Plum Spring" and "Umbrella exhaustion", and the second half is "Kumikyoku Kasazukushi" with the intermission.
Following "Koi no Tsujizori", it becomes the finale after mouth.

The stage where the decoration of the back harmonizes between the cube (Tatakata / Dance) and the region (Jikata / Song / Shamisen) is the stage where the decoration of the back is in harmony.
It has a magical power that makes you want to see again when you actually see and feel it.

The first half of the performance had the impression of "glamorous" with emphasis on color, and the second half was black and calm.
The impression of "tradition" based on color, and I think both were wonderful.

I saw the east for the first time this time, but I feel that I was able to touch something really good.
It was a fulfilling day.

Then, in order to enjoy the east more, those who have had preliminary knowledge about Shimbashi Hanayanagi world.
I think it's good. For example,
・It seems that Shimbashi Hanayagikai started as a gold spring geisha at the end of the Edo period.
・From the end of the Tokugawa period to the Meiji period, it developed greatly as Shimbashi Hanamachi due to the favor of key figures.
In particular, it was a first-class flower district called "Gei no Shimbashi" with an emphasis on improving arts.
・The name of the bridge over the Shiodome River (old) was "Shimbashi", so it was "Shimbashi Hanayanagikai".
The place is the whole area from Ginza to Tsukiji.
・The restaurants that make up the Hanayagi world are scattered around theater to Tsukiji.
The number of the geisha is on the street at Ginza 8-chome.
・Shimbashi Geisha was a fashion leader in Ginza from the Taisho era to the Showa era.
They actively used long-established products that remain in the neighborhood of Shiseido and Ginza 8-chome.
  It was well known

There are a lot of interesting history and episodes.

Enjoy Edo Rakugo in Chuo-ku

[Dharma] May 30, 2016 09:00

Edo Rakugo ... According to the theory, at the end of Kansei (1798-1800), Sanyutei Karaku held the first vaudeville performance at Edo Asakusa Yanagi Inari Shrine, the beginning of a professional rakugo artist in Edo vaudeville. The first generation Ensei, the first Masei, the first generation Shozo, and the first generation Sobashi are the leading figures. At the end of Bunsei (1829), there were 125 vaudeville seats, and Edo rakugo was established during this period, and nearly 400 seats were reached during the Ansei period (1854-60). The number of vaudevilles in the Meiji Taisho era exceeded 100, and the number of vaudevilles after the war decreased, but "Radio broadcast", "TV broadcast", "Hall rakugo", "CD conversion" ... In the Showa era, the listening style changed and rakugo improved. (Susumu Yamamoto, Rakugo Handbook, from the Golden Age of Rakugo)

Currently, there are only four rakugo fixed seats in Tokyo, but the rakugo boom of "someone's rakugo society tomorrow" continues, such as halls, ward halls, company rental seats, restaurants, etc. Rakugo flows today from Ningyocho Shopping Street "Karakuri Ogura" [3].

In Chuo-ku, there are many places, mainly in hall rakugo, and "Edo no Kaze" (Shiraku Rakugo Evolution theory), which Mr. Danshi calls, is blowing.

This is an introduction of the Rakugo venue I went to listen to.

  • Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Main Store [1] Mitsukoshi Theater "Mitsukoshi Rakugokai and other special planning rakugokai" ... Started in April 1953, it will celebrate 591 times without breaking the style at that time. On May 26th, the second floor seat, in the luxurious and heavy interior, the stage was "Santaka" and "Dad god" of birds.
  • Honmachi "Edo Nihonbashi-tei-Nagatani" (Rakugo Arts Council regular seat, Tachikawa-ryu Nihonbashi-tei, Young Rakugokai) [2]
  • Nihonbashi Public Hall (Nihonbashi Theater) in oyster shell town ●Nihonbashi Social Education Hall, Ningyocho
  • Ginza "Hakujinkan Theater" ●Ginza "Ginza Blossom Central Hall"
  • Tsukiji Honganji [4] Buddyst Hall (Honganji Rakugokai, Children's Yoseki) ... 41 times Raku Morning solo performance on May 17 [5] (Minist of Medicine but last year hit) Health Rakugo and Sugimori Shrine It was the oral performance of "Yakuya no Tomi".

In the rain of the sideways, there is also a performance in Kagura Hall.

And! This year's Reitaisai festival, tomorrow, Miya portable shrine will run around the town for the first time in 10 years!

A mikoshi waiting for tomorrow's turn.

Originally, imperial procession was once every five years, but five years ago it was not done because of the Great East Japan Earthquake. That's why it's a 10-year-old look. We pray for a good imperial procession to offer safe prayers to those affected by the disaster.

Koami Shrine will celebrate its 550th anniversary this year. It was built at the end of the North and South Dynasty! Michio Ota, the founder of Edo, has a strong religion, and is now counted as the Seven Lucky Gods of Nihonbashi (Fukurokuju, Benzaiten), and is gaining popularity among young people as a power spot for improving fortune and eliminating bad luck.

It was during the war that Koami Shrine became widely known in protection against misfortune. The people who went out with the talisman of this shrine were able to return safely. And he escaped the war in the Great Air Raid. From these, it came to be worshiped as a god of good luck evil. Also, even in the Great Kanto Earthquake before that, when Miyashi evacuated to Shinohashi with his body, many people who were in the same place were saved, so it was said that it was the virtue of Koami Shrine.

In the precincts, Chozubachi, which was burned down by the Great Kanto Earthquake, is still active.

By the way, Koami Shrine is famous for its unique and wonderful products, but it is also famous for its award.

This is "Mayutama Mikuji". ↓

Omikuji is in the real eyebrows. It is lucky items, which suffered from the vitality of silkworms, and it is cool because many are connected to the precincts. It seems that you can take it home and use it as a talisman.

On the precincts, there is also a "Senrai no Ii", which is familiar under the name of Tokyo Senarai Benten. Please purify your coins and bills. It seems that if you put it in your wallet as it is, you will be able to get fortune!

Koami Shrine is filled with a lot of culture and history in a small precinct. If you want to get rid of luck, go to Reitaisai festival tomorrow! Please take a look at Miya carrying of miniature shrines for the first time in 10 years. Of course, don't forget shrine hall's "rise dragon" and "drain dragon"! It is a dragon that controls "good luck."

The origin of the large lantern of Kobunamachi in Senso-ji Temple

[Silver] May 18, 2016 09:00

The other day, I visited a foreign tourist and went to the Sansha Festival.
By the way, there is a large lantern in Senso-ji Temple with Kofune-cho.
ck0924_20160518.jpg

I found a panel explaining the origin of the large Japanese lantern in Kobunacho, which is hung on the gate of Senso-ji Temple.Lantern IMG_1670 (400x300) Lantern in Kobunacho, Senso-ji Temple jpg
It was written as follows. (As per the original text)

Passing through one of Tokyo's tourist attractions, Senso-ji Temple, Kaminarimon, and passing through Nakamise, you'll find a quaint and magnificent large Japanese lantern with the word "Kobunacho".
Until the Great Kanto Earthquake, Nihonbashi was a fish riverbank in Edo, and the neighborhood was thriving as "Edo Minato".
Merchants handling products set up stores in Kofune-cho, a landing site, and a continuation of the land, where products from various countries gathered, and made money. These merchants began about 340 years ago when they showed the prosperity of Kobuna-cho and the spirit of the believers, and dedicated O Japanese lantern to Senso-ji Temple, who wrote the name of Kobuna-cho.
What is currently being made is a new dedication on October 5, 2003, the 400th anniversary of the opening of Edo, for the first time in about 15 years.

A poster to inform you of it was posted on the shrine.

As you all know,
Koami Shrine is one of Nihonbashi Seven Lucky Gods.
We are celebrating Benzaiten Fukurokuju.
It is a shrine that attracts visitors all year round, including New Year's Day.
Even if it is not New Year, it may be a long queue waiting for worship.

Mr. vermilion seal stamp, too.
Even those who have received the name of the ink in the red seal book and the seal.
I think there are many things.

Miya carrying of miniature shrines is 5/28 (Sat). Prior to Koami Shrine, the festival of Shitaya Shrine in Taito Ward, which is said to be "the earliest summer festival in downtown," and the Kanda-jinja Shrine, which has shrine parishionercarrying of miniature shrines in Chuo-ku, is held at the end of the month.

Nihonbashi Juken Store and Star Wars

[Dimini ☆ Cricket] May 5, 2016 18:00

The other day, in the introduction of May dolls, "Darth Bayder warrior dolls produced by "Daiko Yoshinori" (Headquarters: 1-9-14 Asakusabashi, Taito-ku) collaborated with "Star Wars" were too popular and sold out. There was a TV report.

yositok07.jpg

Speaking of "Yoshinori Daiko", it is the oldest long-established doll in Edo, famous for "Dolls have a face."

When I opened Yoshinori's website unintentionally due to the magnitude of the impact, it was explained that Yoshinori had a regular store at Nihonbashi Juken in the late Edo period, and I was happy and reported here It is up to you.

The following description is an excerpt from Yoshinori's website.

yositok02.jpg

This illustration is a diagram of "Jikkenda Hinaichi" from "Edo Famous Zoukai" Makinoichi during the Tenpo era.

Painter Yukidan Hasegawa depicts the bustle of Hina City at the famous Nihonbashi Jukenten. At the top, there is a phrase of Basho's "Emperor of Uchiura Hina Doll Emperor Gou". The Yoshinori (Yamada family) family crest and Sankumatsu (Sangamatsu) are hidden in the curtain stretching over the eaves, so this figure is here from the late Edo period to the Meiji era, You can see that it was the storefront of Yoshinori.

The vermilion seal stamp of "Hina doll Handy Wholesaler Yoshinoya Tokubei" has been handed down to Yoshinori for several generations. In the Edo period, toys were called hand play.

(Yoshinori Archives)

But not only Sir Bader, but also the helmet decoration of Stom Truper, is wonderful

yositok01.jpg

By the way, I feel like I saw an article in the past that Darth Bader's helmet was based on Masamune Date's helmet, so if that is the fact, suddenly there will be no discomfort, and this warrior doll will become more and more attractive.
