What is the reason why Kyobashi, the middle point between Ginza and Nihonbashi, is hot recently?

[Shiba Inu] April 28, 2016 14:00

Kyobashi, Chuo-ku.

Kyobashi Station on the Ginza Line and Takaracho Station on the Asakusa Line. Did you know that there is an increasing number of fashionable and exciting clothing and miscellaneous goods shops in this area, which is between Ginza and Nihonbashi? A unique air that is somewhat relaxed even though it is highly sensitive. How do wonderful shops start gathering in this area? In order to find out why, I've been visiting two particularly exciting stores!

At first glance, it's a very ordinary building. On the roof of this building, there is a shop like a treasure chest quietly. Go up the old-fashioned manual elevator to the top floor, and then go to the rooftop by stairs. And what!

DSC_4971.jpg

A hut like a hideaway appears. A mysterious space like an outdoor like an indoor. The identity of this store that floats in the sky is an antique vintage shop in Europe! We talked to the owner, Mr. Yokomi.

DSC_4982.jpg

―It's a nice location perfect for an antique shop....!

"This shop has been running as a couple since around 2007. Originally, I was doing this kind of work at U.K. and wanted to open a store in Japan, so I was looking for a place where I could return to Japan and become a store."

―This kind of highly sensitive shop seems to be around Daikanyama, but why is it in Chuo-ku and Kyobashi?...

"At first, I was looking for it in the West. But I couldn't find a striking property, and it gradually flowed east....It's like that. I've heard from my friends that Bakurocho and Kodemmacho are getting more interesting."

―Yes, in the Bakurocho-Kodemmacho-Ningyocho area, there are more and more fashionable cafes and general stores now.

"Because it's a shop dealing with old things, I thought an old building would be good. So, I found this building. Manual elevators are interesting, isn't it? This hut was just built on the roof, but it was originally a gallery. "Renovate what had been vacant since the owner changed."

―What! Was this fashionable space self-renovation?

―A comfortable space created by Yokomi's calm atmosphere. What's the nice clothes placed there?

"Products are mainly French antiques, from the 19th century to the 1950s. At that time, craftsmen made it by hand. If you make something similar now...It's going to be very expensive (laughs) There are men and women in clothes. We don't have much in the shop, but we also have children's clothes!"

―It's really nice clothes. Are you going to buy something?

"I go to buy about two or five times a year. My husband is going right now. Travel all over France by car. Sometimes I buy it at the shop, or go to a local professional."

―Is that right? These attractive clothes are gathered by great effort and physical strength....。 The location of the shop is a bit secret and it's hard to understand, but what is the customer base like?

"Yes, with those who like European antiques...And there's a designer. I made new clothes by referring to the vintage clothes, fabrics, laces, etc. found here."

 ―I see!

DSC_4978.jpg

Mr. Yokomi responded gently with a smile from beginning to end. The reason why Chuo-ku is becoming more interesting may be that it is in the part of "I love old things". Please visit Mind Vendors and Classics, a secret rooftop!

Well, many of you may know the following shops.

More than 15 years at Nishiogikubo on the Chuo Line. From young people to Madam, Gallenon continues to be loved by those with good taste. It was about five years ago that I opened a shop here in Kyobashi. Divide Japanese shop curtain from Nishiogi? I thought it was a company originally located in Chuo-ku! When I visited Mr. Shiroshima of Kyobashi store, I was able to hear a very interesting story about Kyobashi!

DSC_4987.jpg

―Was it the original shop here?

"No, there was an office, not a shop. The fact that we set up an office in this area is easy to access."

―What was the reason why the office changed to a store?

"There are many shops I know about here, but one of them told me that there was an empty building near the office at that time. So move. I opened a shop on the first floor. The top is the office."

―The products are original clothes and selected miscellaneous goods.

"Well, there are both select and original miscellaneous goods. "Selects include overseas music, Lithuanian tableware, African teaspoons, and other interesting things that you can't find anywhere else."

DSC_4992.jpg

―It looks good as a gift! What's the original?

"There are Hasami ware and Echizen-painted dish sets, etc., but we order original saucers that match them and have craftsmen make them. You can put a cup or use it alone. It's the perfect size and doesn't rattle, and it's hard to get."

―Please tell us about your main original clothes. Non-san's blouse has enthusiastic fans, and it's not uncommon for those who come to buy from a distance.

"The clothes are natural materials and have a design that doesn't get bored by fashion. I'm very particular about tailoring. No matter how good the material and design are, if you feel uncomfortable, you will not be able to wear it for a long time."

DSC_4994.jpgDSC_4995.jpg

―It's a very fine pintuck....!I'm crazy. It would be nice if an elderly woman wore such a blouse mannishly!

―Kyobashi is also long, isn't it? How is it?

"The customers you come here are completely different from Nishiogi. There are many office workers in this area, so how about a store like our house?...I thought, but unexpected people will be able to see you."

 ―What do you like?

"I'm a foreigner. China and Western Europe. This area is an antique street in the first place, and there are many foreigners who stay at nearby hotels to enjoy it, really. They are looking into our house, don't they?"

―I see! Kyobashi is also the stage of the Tokyo Art Antique (*).

"And there are also creators and advertising agencies who work for large companies in the neighborhood. You can come in easily."

―There are many galleries in this neighborhood, isn't it?

"Speaking of the gallery, there was something fun. We also exhibit and sell the works of artists, but the artist came by chance. I didn't know that I'm dealing with it, and I don't know the artist's face as well. A total coincidence...。 "I have my work!" I'm very pleased. I hear you were having a solo exhibition right there. There's also an interesting coincidence."

 ―Wow, it's a very nice story!

"We are doing clothing, food, housing, and art. Please come and visit the shop. I think there's something to do (laughs)."

―Thank you very much for your busy schedule.

There are a number of other nice shops in Kyobashi. If you walk a little, you will find the famous Okuno Building! Those who like antiques, those who are looking for something with originality that doesn't hang out with people, those who want to shop in a secret house with a huge shopping building....Please come to Kyobashi for a walk. Exciting and touching a world that I didn't know before...Such an encounter may be waiting for you!

By the way, it is a 30-minute walk from COREDO Muromachi in Nihonbashi to Ginza Sukiyabashi via Kyobashi. It does not pass dangerous places, and it is a reasonable recommended walking route.

Shinkawa's hideaway cafe & bar KayGee's

[HK] April 26, 2016 09:00

I went to Cafe Bar KayGee's, a shop I've been interested in for a long time.

The location is between Minami Takahashi and Chuo-ohashi Bridge at Shinkawa 2-chome, and the arched entrance is a landmark on the first floor of an apartment on a narrow road slightly from the main street.

Just looking at the record jacket displayed on the show window, you can see that it is a shop that is particular about music.

Cafe Bar KayGee's, was one of the places I've been wanted to visit.

It is located between Minami-Takabashi (bridge) and Chuo-Ohashi (bridge), along the narrow street. It's arch shaped facade could be recognized as a mark.

By only looking at the records displayed at the window, you can easily tell that the place is for the music lovers.

When you enter, you will hear a pleasant sound as expected, and you will be greeted with a friendly smile. (Owner Mr. Hotta)

As expected, smooth music and a warm smile welcomes you at the entrance. (Mr. Hotta, owner of the cafe)

CIMG1129 (2). JPG

The visit date was Saturday, but the lunch set had the same price as weekdays, 950 yen (including tax) sora beans and Shirasu pasta lunch.

The texture of raw noodles is delicious! It also comes with soup and salad. There is also a rice plate, and the menu seems to change every day, and it seems that there are ginger grilled and omelet.

The lunch set menu costs JPY950- through Mon. to Sat. which includes main dish, salad, and soup.

I tried Pasta for main dish, which the noodle is not dry but raw before boiled and it was delicious. Other choices change daily. (Pork ginger, Omlet, etc.)

CIMG1131 (3). JPGWhen I asked the owner, he told me that he was performing acoustic live such as Bosanoba and flute performances on an irregular basis.

The music charge is set for each performer, but the previous Bosanoba live was sold out immediately for 2,500 yen.

In the first place, the shop started by the owner's music lovers, and he wanted to create a healing space with high-quality music of various genres and delicious food.

Lunchtime on weekdays is crowded with people who work nearby, so if you want to spend a relaxing time, we recommend shifting lunch time or Saturday.

According to Mr. Hotta, the owner of the cafe, an acoustic live performances are scheduled non-regularly.  The music charge for the latest bosa nova performance was JPY2,500- which sold out at once, though the charge changes depending on the performer.

The place is Mr. Hotta's dream come true project where people can spend relaxing time listening to nice music and enjoy good food.

If you wish to touch the essence of the comfortable atmosphere, visiting weekday lunch might not be the right choice because a lot of business people come in on that time.  Recommends visiting in the late afternoon during week days, or on Saturdays.

CIMG1123 (2). JPGCIMG1126 (3). JPG

Other than that, world-class judoists, including Olympic medalists, come to the store from time to time.

For more information, why don't you ask the owner directly at the store?

Believe it or not, a worldwide famous Judo athletes sometimes walk in.

For further information, please go visit and have a chat with Mr. Hotta.

[Inform the feeling of reconstruction support! ] Kumamoto Antenna Shop (Ginza 5-chome)

[Dye] April 25, 2016 09:00

I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the recent Kumamoto earthquake.

I think you are still having a hard time mentally and physically as seismic activity continues.

I sincerely hope that we will go to a good situation as soon as possible.

...That said, it's frustrating just to wish, and I can do it even in Tokyo.

First of all, I would like to introduce the antenna shop "Ginza Kumamotokan".

I'll go to Oita next time!

"Ginza Kumamotokan" is at the Sukiyabashi intersection (there is a sign of Fujiya).

It's just a short walk towards Shimbashi, lined with SONY buildings.

It's a little retro appearance, and Kumamon welcomes you.

s26_01.jpg s26_13.jpg

It's already talked about and it's quite crowded.

On Saturday, the 23rd, the line was closed around 14:00, and around 18:00, the line was resolved, but there were many people in the store.

The first floor is Kumamoto Plaza (product sales). I recommend it.☆

Watermelon, Decopon, basashi and Sake...

s26_05.jpg s26_06.jpg s26_03.jpg

s26_07.jpg s26_04.jpg

Speaking of watermelon, Kumamoto! It's especially delicious at the beginning of the show.

In addition, there are many attractive horse oils and crafts.

After the business resumed on the 16th, the items ordered on the 19th began to arrive on the 22nd.

It seems to have been in short supply last weekend. It is expected to recover in the future.

Personally my favorite "Ikinari Dango" was out of stock on Saturday, but I'm looking forward to receiving it.

On the second floor, there is a corner for selling Kumamon goods, a sightseeing corner, and ASOBI Bar where you can enjoy snacks and alcohol.

s26_08.jpg s26_10.jpgs26_09.jpg

Kumamon is so cute....This is also attractive.

s26_11.jpg s26_15.jpg

There is tourist information. The ASOBI Bar also has a homey atmosphere.

There is also a donation box, so you can donate money without going to the bank!

It is said that it will be used to support the affected areas through Kumamoto Prefecture.

(Kumamoto → "Kumamoto Earthquake" contribution distribution committee (tentative name) → It seems like the flow of affected municipalities in the prefecture → victims (households).)

Even if there is a line, if you only donate money, you can call out to the shop and enter immediately!

s26_12.jpg

Until 20 o'clock at night. It is also possible to return home from the company (`・ω ・ ')!

When I talked to the "Ginza Kumamotokan", all the merchandise corners on the first floor are from Kumamoto Prefecture, and about 1,000 items are always available, and all sales are returned to businesses in Kumamoto Prefecture. is. It seems that about 300 businesses are delivering it.

When I actually went, shopping and raising funds here also led to the revitalization of Kumamoto.

The person in charge who heard the story also said that he was very grateful to everyone.

It's a small support, but I hope everyone can continue for a long time.

Please drop in when you come to Ginza.◎

92nd East

[Marsha Horiuchi of Edo] April 13, 2016 18:00

Shimbashi Enbujo, located in Ginza 6-chome, has become the most gorgeous season.

ck1515_20160413 (1). JPG

In contrast to Gion's "Kyo-dori" (starting from the Edo period), a flower town in the ancient capital of Kyoto.
It was just started in the Taisho era as a place for Shimbashi geisha to present their performances.

I think there are also geishas in Ningyocho, which was a flower district in the past.
I think this Shimbashi is the most common in Tokyo.

This year's event will be held on May 19-22.

Reservations will begin today on April 13th.

I think it's a good idea to experience a stylish atmosphere once.
Two years ago, I was invited to a sushi during the intermission and watched "East Odori".

Tsukuda River City 21 during the cherry blossom season

[Minori] April 7, 2016 16:00

It's already the cherry blossom season.

Cherry blossoms are blooming from Aioi Bridge to Tsukuda River City 21, Paris Square, and Chuo-ohashi Bridge.

There are many cherry blossom viewing visitors.

As of April 4, it was still a bit cold, so I felt it would be in full bloom.

From Tsukuda River City, you can also see Eitai Bridge and the Tokyo Sky Tree.

Also, there are many cherry blossoms near Chuo-ohashi Bridge, so it is recommended.

The view of the Sumida River terrace in Shinkawa from Paris Square is also nice.

Tsukuda Park also has many cherry blossoms, seasonal flowers and trees, and plants, so you can stroll along the river.

It is also located behind Tsukuda Elementary School and Tsukuda Junior High School on the opposite side of River City 21.

Cherry blossoms are also located in the nearby Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine, so I think it's a good walking course.

I found a shop! Live House in Ginza (Kennedy House) Look What I Found! A Live Music Performance in Ginza

[HK] April 2, 2016 14:00

I went to a live house in Ginza on the weekend.

The location is "Kennedy House Ginza" on the first basement floor along Ginza Corridor Street.♪

The day was the stage of the house band Super Wonderland (SWL).

A Miracle band that plays because of this band, group sound, fork, new music, rock, etc. And I'm very good at singing and playing. I'm intoxicated with Chicago, Bee Gees, and off-course singing with leader Tsukasa Ueda's hasky and high tone voice.

And I was impressed by the song of MIO, a female vocalist with soulful and outstanding singing skills.

Usually, the music charge is ¥2,160 (+ service charge 15% excluding food and drink), but on this day it was ¥4,320 (additional fee for other performers) because of the leader's birthday special live.

If you are craving for good music and nice refreshment in the center of Tokyo, "Kennedy House" in Ginza might be the right spot.

The main performer of this live music club is a band called "Super Wonderland" and this band can really play music.

Tsukasa Ueda, the leader of the band takes the audience away with his husky engrossing voice, singing Chicago, Bee Gees, Japanese pop music, and many more.

Mio, female vocalist of the band, touches everyone's heartstrings with her soulful voice, making breathtaking performance.

Music charge is normally JPY2,160(plus 15% service charge / food & beverage excluded), though it changes depending on the performance.  Ueda's special birthday live stage was JPY4,320.

DSC_0199 (2). jpg

I'd like MIO to sing Whitney Huston someday ...

Mio fascinates everyone with her soulful voice.

IMG_1079.JPG

I was conscious of Julie (?) It fits into the base while singing by Ikuya Chiba.

Bassist Ikuya Chiba stomps and pumps up the crowd. IMG_1052 (2). JPGAnd the young president of the live house, Yuki Kase, is a special appearance! (I'm handsome ♪)

A special performance by Tomotaka Kase, the President of the club house.

IMG_1067.JPG

Mr. Kase is actually a son who inherits the DNA of Kunihiko Kase of Wild Ones. As expected, the aura is amazing! Along with SWL, he sang his father's famous song "Nagisa of Memories" with a 12-string guitar.

After the performance, when I found an elderly woman customer, Mr. Kase, who pulled her hand and guided her to the seat, was very smart and impressive.

There are times when you just say that it's a homely live house.

There were three stages on this day, but the performers and the content seem to change from day to day, so I would like to try again.

Until now, I was interested in the live house, but I haven't visited it all over, but here it seems that I can drop in alone with peace of mind and take my friends and relatives who came to play from rural areas. When I asked Ueda leader, he decided on a song from a lot of repertoires according to the customer on that day.

By the way, on weekdays and nights, the seats are filled with businessmen in suits.

Tomotaka Kase is the son of the late Kunihiko Kase, one of the most famous and successful musician in Japan.   He played one of his father's greatest hits in '60s with his 12 string guitar.

The stage performance is very exciting and the place is so comfortable, you can almost forget your everyday life.

Also, the location is so good and safe, you can casually stop by or bring your friends and family over.
