"Kanda festival" isn't an Edo kid, but Teyan Day!

[Marsha Horiuchi of Edo] April 28, 2015 09:00

More than 1300 years ago, Kanda Myojin was founded around Otemachi.
It has been 400 years since I was transferred to Sotokanda in 1616 as the guardian of Omote unlucky direction.
Kanda festival in Tokyo has become an indispensable part of the downtown community as an annual event.
This year marks the 400th anniversary of Ieyasu's death, and together with NHK Taiga drama series, you can feel familiar with Edo.

Because we are celebrating three gods (Daikoku-sama, Ebisu-sama, and Masakado-sama).
I think it's an All Mighty Japanese shrine, I came to visit last Saturday.

By the way, the Kanda Festival will be held from 5/7 to 5/15 after Golden Week.

On May 9th of the festival, one of the main events, the Shinko Festival.
Led by Ren Otori and portable shrine, there are about 500 floats in line with shrine parishioner's town, 108 from 8:00 am to 19:00 pm
(A distance of about 30 km from Kanda, Jimbocho, Otemachi, Nihonbashi, Akihabara, Ningyocho and Kanda).
*It's exciting to hear that it's a festival, but if you're busy, you might want to broadcast the Internet on May 10.

This year, it seems that Tsunetaka Tokugawa, the 18th head of the Tokugawa sect, and Hiroshi Aramata, a famous Edokko naturalist, will also participate.

"Flower Festival" at Ningyocho Great Kannon-ji Temple

[Kra-san] April 22, 2015 09:00

April 8 is the day when the Buddha was born, the founder of Buddhism.

Buddhist events to celebrate the birth are called Kanbutsue or Bushoe, and are also called folk statues and birthday parties.

It is a spring event that is now commonly called under the name of "Flower Festival".

Every year, the “Flower Festival” event is held at Ningyocho Great Kannon-ji Temple.

This year, it was held on April 4th (Sat).

In addition, to celebrate the Holy Day, the door of Mr. main deity, designated Tangible Cultural Property, was opened specially.

On the day of the event, there were many worshipers who made Hanamido on the precincts and poured sweet tea on the birth Buddha on the basin to celebrate.

After visiting, the Ningyocho Shopping Street Cooperative set up a bench with a red rug in front of the gate, serving sweet tea and sweets.

In addition, there was a fun lottery where you could win the masterpieces of Ningyocho if you were lucky by lottery (speed lottery).

Why don't you enjoy the "Flower Festival" at Ningyocho Great Kannon-ji next spring?

Sumida River Waseda-Keio Regatta

[Tachibana] April 21, 2015 14:00

Although it did not go to the Sumida River in Urara in spring, the annual Waseda-Keio Regatta was held as the cloudy sky and the rain was falling.

regatta1.jpgThe front is Waseda's boat, and the back is Keio's boat.

Cheers from both schools are also cheering by singing school songs and cheering songs.

As I thought last year, the person who holds the boat before the start is hard work. The back is Shinohashi.

The starting point is from the side of Hamacho Park.

It's finally the start of the second eight.

Sugimori Shrine's first festival in three years

[Wind in all directions] April 17, 2015 09:00

A new year has begun, and annual events held in Chuo-ku are being held one after another.

I recently visited the Nihonbashi Festival, one of them, the 22nd Spring Festival. Despite the unfortunate rain, the cherry blossoms have calmed me even though the full bloom has passed. In particular, the splendid appearance of 35 famous old cars from the front yard of the main building of the Bank of Japan to Nihonbashi Bridge and Edo Sakura-dori St., combined with the old and new landscapes, was wonderful.

20150416-1.jpg

I think the people who come and go over Nihonbashi also felt more gorgeous than usual.

20150416-2.jpg

Nevertheless, the highway above the bridge, even though the umbrella is replaced to protect famous cars from rain only on this day, the sky looks good on the bridge. I signed the Nihonbashi Scenic Reconstruction Movement under the bridge, saying, "Blue in Nihonbashi and Light in Nihonbashi River." When I answered the person in charge, "I live in another prefecture now, but my permanent residence is Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku," I was impressed that I had a smile more than thank you for signing.

After this, I saw a long line of Anjin-dori = Tendon's 'Kaneko Hannosuke', which is now a famous shop, and crossed Showa-dori and walked back to Koami Shrine and Ningyocho.

On the way, I found a notice of Ningyocho "Hojinchokai Festival"!

It was written that there was a festival at Sugimori Shrine.

As you all know, Sugimori Shrine was a place where the Edo period lottery was held. There is also a "Tomizuka Monument" on the grounds to commemorate it.

20150416-8.jpg

It seems to be the first festival in three years, so please go out.

I'm sorry, but the newcomer from this month is the wind on all sides. I would like to tell you about Chuo-ku, which is deeply thoughtful.

Thank you very much.

A mysterious building in Hakozaki-cho

[pont] April 14, 2015 09:00

Get off at Suitengumae Station and walk back street from Hakozaki T-CAT to Hakozaki Park.

At first glance, there is a mysterious building that you don't know what to use.

During the imperial procession Union of portable shrine in Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine

The Hakoshimachikai, which is used

It's a warehouse for mikoshi.

Most of Chuo-ku are Kanda Myojin and Hiyoshi Shrine.

In the town of shrine parishioner, the Hakozaki and the Shinkawa area are located.

Located in Koto Ward on the opposite bank of the Sumida River
It's shrine parishioner town in Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine.

The Hakozaki and Shinkawa districts and the Eidaijima district on the opposite bank are located.

The shallows that were located on the Sumida River during the Edo period.

Land made by reclaiming land
There is something in common.

As a result, the Hakozaki and Shinkawa districts are now in place.
In the same landfill, not Kanda Myojin

One of the children of Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine

In the sense of humanity of the people of the Edo period

It seems to be the result of being considered natural.

The portable shrine Union imperial procession, which consists of the town of shrine parishioner in Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine.

As a water festival held once every three years

It's famous, but it's soaked mikoshi.

It is said that it will take a year to dry completely.

The last time the portable shrine Union imperial procession was in August 2014.
The water has not yet dried completely

It is kept in a safe place in the warehouse.

Unfortunately, the shutters are usually closed.

You can't see the mikoshi itself, but you can't see it.

If you see this building when you go to T-CAT or Hakozaki Park, you can see it.

You can remember it as a storage place for important mikoshi in Hakozaki.

I'm glad.

A stylish day-Ningyomachi / Nihonbashi touring by a rickshaw

[Pampon] April 13, 2015 14:00

It's the end of walking.

A while ago, my parents came to Tokyo to play, so four adults, including my husband, took a rickshaw to sightseeing around Ningyocho and Nihonbashi.

Until then, I only knew Asakusa where I could ride a rickshaw in Tokyo, but I happened to discover a rickshaw sightseeing at "Discovery Edo Shitamachi" on the website of the Royal Park Hotel where my parents stayed!

The course we were guided by was

[Start] Royal Park Hotel → Matsushima Shrine → The statue of Benkei in the Kanjin Book → Meijiza → Suitengu (Kamiya) → amazake Yokocho → Koami Shrine → Nihonbashi

→Main Building of the Bank of Japan → Mitsui Main Building → Cored Muromachi [Goal]

That's right.

We had a total of 10 locations, including two Nihonbashi Seven Lucky Gods, in about 60 minutes.

<Koami Shrine>

A vigorous carman at each spot will guide you carefully with interesting episodes.

It was a day when amazake could fully enjoy the streets full of Edo atmosphere!

According to what I heard, the birthplace of the rickshaw is Nihonbashi.

It was a "smart" to go around this area related to rickshaws by rickshaws.

If you are planning to stay at the Royal Park Hotel this spring, as well as wanting to go sightseeing with a rickshaw!☆
