Practice for the 33rd Chuo-ku Oedo Festival Bon Odori Tournament!
Dance practice session that is easy for beginners

Hello. It's Hanes.
At the beginning of July, a dance practice session was held at the multipurpose hall of Kyobashi Plaza for the 33rd Chuo-ku Oedo Festival Bon Odori Tournament (venue: Hamacho Park) hosted by Chuo-ku. .
This practice session is planned and operated by Chuo-ku for "to raise the oldness and awareness of inhabitants of a ward and revitalize the area."
This year, I participated in the practice session at the end of work because I can participate without prior application!
However, I did not participate by chance.
Six years have passed since I moved to Chuo-ku. I have visited several Bon Odori held in the city so far, but I was impressed by the fact that the participants were very familiar and enjoyed many songs.
So, last year, I asked where and how I learned the dance at the Bon Dance venue.
The most common answer was the dance practice meeting held in the city.
About 100 people and many people gathered at the actual dance practice session.
I was the first to participate in the dance practice session, so I was worried about what to do if only one person could keep up, but similarly about 10 to 20% of those who participated for the first time, so I was relieved.
The dance method of Chuo-ku Ondo "This is Edo Bon Dance" (written by Toyohisa Araki, composed by Shosuke Ichikawa, arranged by Masahito Maruyama) can be lectured in a separate room, so even beginners can enjoy the dance I can do it.
Also, about 20 minutes later, you can join other participants and practice other dances, so don't worry.

Kiyomasa Koji Temple in Hamacho Park, the venue for the 33rd Oedo Festival Bon Odori Festival in Chuo-ku.
This time, we practiced with the members of the folk dance Federation of Chuo-ku as a model, making double and triple rings.
There are a total of 12 practice songs. At the end of the four songs, we took a break, and as shown below, I had the opportunity to practice only "This is Edo Bon Dance" twice at the beginning and last.
[12 songs practiced at the Bon Dance Practice Session at Kyobashi Plaza]
This is Edo Bon Dance, Tokyo Ondo, Chanchiki Okesa, Dotabachi Samba, Bahamas Mama, Dancing Hero, 2000 Ondo, Kiyoshi's Zundkobushi, Great Tokyo Ondo, Bayside Bogi, Ginza Kankan Musume, Kiyoshi's Counting song, this is Edo Bon Dance.
Dances range from those that even beginners who repeat easy-to-remember choreography can quickly dance, to those that have complicated hands and feet movements and require some practice.
Many of the general participants were supple and were good at dancing, and I used it as an example.
I heard that I practiced 12 songs at first, and said, "12 songs too...."And the image with a large number of songs preceded, but if you actually start dancing, it will be more fun than expected, the time will pass quickly, and the dance will not be enough!
Until now, Bon Odori has always been a specialty of watching, but once I was courageous and danced, I was able to realize the real pleasure.
Many people come to Chuo-ku for sightseeing, and some people participate in Bon Odori by jumping and enjoy the dance by imitating the appearance.
Therefore, I think there is an atmosphere that makes it easy for beginners to participate.
This year's "33rd Chuo-ku Oedo Festival Bon Odori Tournament" will be held at Hamacho Park from 16:00 to 21:00 on Friday, August 25 and 26 (Sat).
If you are a beginner in Bon Odori, it may be good to learn the dance little by little, such as participating in the Neighborhood Association Bon Odori Tournament, which will be held gradually from the latter half of July.
This year's Bon Odori practice session hosted by Chuo-ku has ended, but if you want to join in a circle and practice Bon Odori, if you are a beginner in Bon Odori, please pay attention to the next year's information!
