Sake wholesaler and Shinkawa

During the Edo period, there were three sake wholesalers: Shinkawa, Kayabacho, and Niihori. A person named Seibee Kajima, who had a big house in Nihonbashi, had the largest store in Shinkawa. When sake comes from the offshore, we drop by in a small boat and pick it up, take it to the store and roll the barrel. The sake comes from above, so when young sake is ready, it will be loaded on a small boat and sailed. The first ship I boarded is called "young sake". Is it Bojorenoubo? While the ship brings it to the land and dances in a red undergarment, the boat carried in becomes empty. The best sake here is named Beaujolais No.1 even if you go up later, so it will be piled up first.

As shown in the gu ticket map, there were two wholesalers called "Inoue" near Eitai Bridge. It was Beaujolais' best to anchor in either or both houses. The closest to Eitai Bridge was the Shigejiro Inoue family, and the other was Jintaro Inoue, at Minami-Shinbori 1-chome, but I don't know which is the most target liquor wholesaler in Beaujolais. Both are close to Eitai Bridge. It is a gorgeous trick that you can get on a long and narrow horse riding boat and hit a drum from off Shinagawa off the coast of Shinagawa, but I wanted to see it with my eyes.

When you drop the sake, the people in the town thank Sumiyoshi of Tsukuda. After all, I wear a red undergarment and go to visit with Denma. A young man standing above this time swings a paddle. The newly added sake is not warmed, but is drunk cold to determine the price. Once the price is fixed, we will warm it and treat it to the guests. At first, you can only use a bowl and see the salt plum.

When the ship arrives, a banner is tied to a large stake, and only the boatman goes up to the wholesaler. The young people have a lodging accommodation, so we will wait there. Offshore is a large ship, and the girder is thick because it is a sail of 36 pieces. In addition to the pillars, there are four nets. It is a houseboat, and two nets cross on both sides. Put an oak stick in the pot inside, grab it, say "Enya Enya" and wrap the sail. Such a boat loads 100 to 200 bottles of sake barrels and comes in several cups. Each ship has its own name, and there are various signs such as "Kakufuku" or "Yamagami". The roof is covered with moss on the top, and both sides are like fences so that they do not get wet even if rain comes.

Note: In the case of a kimono fabric, one tan is a length that can be tailored to a kimono of about 11m, 40cm to 12m. Will it be about 400 meters if it is 36 against it? It is unknown whether the "width" of the kimono is applied.

To get to Shinkawa from Nihonbashi, go on the right side, and also on the Kanda River, go on the right side. Any Yokokawa walks on the right side, so it is always left that the boatman puts the pole on his shoulder. That's why the shoulders of the people who operated the ship in Shinkawa were stiff on the left side. Otherwise, the person walking and the pole of the boatman will hit you.

In Nihonbashi, there is a house called "Shinjiro Nakai", who built Nakai Bank (now Mizuho Bank), but also operated a sake wholesaler in Shinkawa. I was doing a big business, but there was no warehouse, so I rented six or seven warehouses to do business. The security level of many warehouses was low, and many were called "Kowakura". There are many people who go to steal this sake, and they form a cabal, enter a thief, and one takes a tub and steals it out. When I repeated this and tried to ship sake, it seemed that it was "empty".

The attached picture shows a ship gathered around Inari Bridge. Carry your luggage on a large ship, refill the sake on a small ship, and carry it to the sake brewery via Kayaba River.
