Visiting Japanese miscellaneous goods shops in Ginza①

[Map★] 16:00 on July 10, 2009

Here are some Japanese miscellaneous goods shops in Ginza.

1.Hatoi-do Hall

It is a shop of incense and Japanese accessories that have been around since the Edo period.
There is also a head office in Kyoto.

I like small items in Kyoto Yuzen dyeing Chiyogami here.
I especially like this kobo box and mirror.

It's good for a small gift.

There are also various seasonal cards and goods.
There were a lot of cute fans that are perfect for the coming season.
Christmas, Hinamatsuri is looking forward to the product lineup.

2.Ginza Koju

It is said that he had the best technique as a fragrance master
It is a shop with the secret scent of Takai Juuemon.
It’s amazing that 430 years have been founded.

The store in Ginza Core is the main store.
I like the branch on this gaslight street with the atmosphere.

I bought a smell bag and a fragrance grain to put inside.
There were about 8 kinds, but this was the best smell.
The name was "Miyabi", so it was decided immediately after the name (*^^*)
The small one on the right is Ayaka.

Kodo classes are also held, and there are hands-on classes.

3.Kunoya

It is the first long-established store in Ginza as a thread wholesaler for over 170 years.

I bought a kitchen towel for gauze.
It's a good idea to hang it on the handle of the kitchen.
It's gauze, so it's kind to your hands.

A cool evening gift with a gauze handkerchief and a hand towel.
The windy patterns of bellflower, morning glory and fireflies are typical of summer.

Omokage of Soseki

[Kaishu] 16:00 on July 10, 2009

Meiji writer who loved rakugo and loved Nihonbashi, a downtown area rich in Edo atmosphere.
Three stone monuments of Soseki Natsume have been erected in the last five or six years.

One is "Echigo-ya in Soseki" which was installed here in Nihonbashi Sankoshimoto store.

The feature-length novel "Gobijingusa" serialized in the Asahi Shimbun received a great response due to its advertising effect.
Mitsukoshi released 'Gubijingusa Yukata' (Yukata Yukata) after that name. This is a great reputation. Demand is
It seems that a lot of production did not catch up and sold a lot.

In addition, Cored Nihonbashi (this is the site of the rival Shirakiya of Mitsukoshi) Annex Square
A monument to "The Stage of Soseki Masterpieces"
In his youth novel "Sanshiro," he went to yose to listen to Kosan the third generation, and in his excellent work "Kokoro."
It depicts a scene where the masters eat at the former gourmet town Kihara store.

Then, in Nakasu at the base of Kiyosu Bridge, "The site of Masago-za Theater, where Soseki 'Neko' was performed"
It is placed. "Cat" is, of course, a representative work, "I am a cat."

Both inscriptions were written by Professor Takayasu Okushima, the 14th President of Waseda University.
It will be written. Soseki was a young man at Tokyo Vocational School (currently Waseda University)
I've been a teacher for about three years.

The mind of Edo and modern thinking of the Meiji era, the fusion of Chinese studies and English literature.
Soseki is color-coded into the genre of Takato school, but its unique taste is
Angai, an Edo kid's temperament, and the stylishness of the common people.
You may be there.

◆Chuo-ku has a history here <5>-The town area of Edo is the size of Chuo-ku! ? ~

[Akira Makibuchi / Sai Sharaku] 17:00 on July 8, 2009

The area of Edo was divided into two categories: Shubikinai, which was called Gofunai, and Sumibiki, which was ruled by town magistrates. Bukechi, town, temple and shrine were located in this area.

How large was this size? According to the data, "According to the land use survey in 1869 (1869), samurai land (approximately 11.7 million tsubo) is about 70% of the total, town land (approximately 2.7 million tsubo) and temples and shrines (approximately 2.7 million tsubo) are about 15% ..." ("Edo Hakuran Kanki" Shogakukan, 2007/6). The survey period is the Meiji period, but I would like to proceed with the discussion that it has not changed much from the late Tokugawa shogunate period.

There Compared to the area of Chuo-ku, the entire Chuo-ku area is about 10.1 km2, about 3 million tsubo, and about 8.25 km2 for land area is about 2.5 million tsubo. In fact, the area of the town ground area and Chuo-ku in the Edo period are almost the same. Chuo-ku is the second narrowest area in the 23 wards. I am amazed that the size of Chuo-ku was the size of the town of Edo.

Furthermore, looking at the population, the population of Edo varies from time to time, and there are various theories, but if it is generally said to be about 1 million, of which about 500,000,000 townspeople are said to be.

500,000 people lived in a town area of about 2.7 million tsubo, which is about 15% of Edo. In other words, the present It means that 500,000 townspeople in Edo lived in Chuo-ku. The population of Chuo-ku is about 110,000 (as of July 2009), so if you calculate simply, the Edomachi area is actually present. It was a place where the population was about 4.5 times that of Chuo-ku, but what about?

0913_5_090620_nagaya01.JPGThis is surprising, but it is not hard to imagine how overcrowded it was because most common people in Edo lived in Nagaya. However, on the other hand, although it is narrow, it gives wisdom, energetic work hard, and I feel the strong figure of living. (Photo: Nagaya landscape of the Fukagawa Edo Museum = The museum is closed for about one year from July 2009 for renovation work.)

Today's Chuo-ku has the highest residential household rate in Japan, high-rise apartments are lined up, and the three-dimensional use of the site is planned, so the living space is incomparable to the Edo period. However, living in the town area during the Edo period was present. If you superimpose it with Chuo-ku, it may be a book for truly enjoying the changes of the times and the improvement of life.

Chuo-ku is a castle town in Edo (Oshiroshita-machi), and the towns of Nihonbashi and Kyobashi, which are "headwater of prosperity in Edo," are crowded with many occupations as commercial and residential areas. And it formed a body of "where people live and people gather, lively." Today I would like to connect this spirit to Chuo-ku.
