I thought that there was a declaration of the end of the rainy season once, and in Japan, the children who were looking forward to preparing a shading plate in the sky covered with rain clouds on the day of the total solar eclipse for the first time in 46 years were disappointed!
By the way, this time, let's unravel the history of Tsukishima No. 4 landfill (now Harumi, Chuo-ku), where the Rainbow Bridge spreads out in front of Tokyo Bay!
Reclaimed land in Nihonbashi, Ginza, and Shimbashi 350 years ago, completed the landfill to Tsukiji 350 years ago by Ieyasu Tokugawa in the Edo period. In the latter half of the Meiji era, based on Tsukuda Island and Ishikawajima, Tsukishima No. 1 (currently Tsukishima 1-4-chome), No. 2 (currently Kachidoki 1-4-chome), No. 3 (currently Kachidoki 5-6-chome) followed by the first landfill work of the Tsukishima No. 4 in 1931 was completed in Asia 1.
In preparation for this project, there were competitions for architecture and bridge design, and all the promising architects of the time participated, but in the process of moving toward World War II, it became a "phantom Japan World Exposition".
The main gate, Kachidokibashi, was completed in 1940 and has been designated as a National Important Cultural Property and remains in its shape. (However, the original Futaba jumping bridge was closed in 1970!)
*At Time Dome Akashi, Chuo-ku, there are occasional screenings of the "Phantom World Exposition" historical video videos, but there are exhibitions of admission tickets and newsletters at the time in the permanent gallery space.
*At the attached special gallery space, summer vacation special project "Look at! Touch it! You can learn it! Dinosaur Exhibition is being held! In the planetarium, giga powerful 3D!
Like the World Exposition, the 12th Olim Pick, which was scheduled to be held in Tokyo in 1940, said, "When young people from all over the world gather in a corner of Asia, the world will enter a new era of peace! In the opposite direction to the declaration of IOC (International Olympic Committee) member Jigoro Kano, it eventually became the "phantom Tokyo Olympics".
In 1964, Asia's first 18th Olympic Games was finally held in Tokyo as a symbol of postwar Japan's revival, and 45 years later, Tokyo ran for the candidate site for the 31st Olympic Games scheduled for 2016. The planned Olympic main stadium will be located next to Harumi Wharf to determine the venue in October.
The illusion of history is resurrected as a dream and is about to appear in front of you, but if everyone's thoughts match,
Our Dreams may come true!
While trying to build the era of the new Showa era by inheriting the DNA of the water front development originating in Edo Minato, Tsukishima No. 4 landfill was named "Harumi" in 1937! While keeping in mind the illusion of history, start the Harumi Bridge at the eastern end, let's run through the Harumi Island!
By the way, the rusted iron bridge that spans in parallel with this Harumi Bridge is immediately noticeable!
This is the Harumi Railway Bridge (currently Harumi Railway Bridge), a harbor freight railway that opened in 1957, and the Harumi Line, a dedicated line for carrying cargo landed at Harumi Wharf. Until it was abolished, it was an iron bridge where locomotives ran.
Go straight on Harumi-dori St. westward, and on the north side, "Harumi Island Triton Square", which was listed in Chuo-ku "Night Night Views Eight" on the north side, and if you go straight further, this will be Chuo-ku "Ohako 18 Views", hit "Harumi Wharf in Tokyo Port" selected as "Ohako 18 Views".
*This fall, October 12 (Sports Day), the 21st “Citizens' Sports Day” marathon will be held on the roads around Tsukishima and Harumi, so it is ideal for straight practice courses!
Tokyo Port Harumi Wharf opened in 1955, and in 1959, Asia's first international trade fair venue, and then the Tokyo Motor Show were held, attracting many people as the gateway to Tokyo's sea and as an international event venue.
In 1990, the cruise project, which celebrated the luxury cruise ship Queen Elizabeth II (QE2), was completed, and in 1991, it was reborn as the current Harumi Passenger Terminal to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the opening of Tokyo Port.
In the front of Tokyo Bay, you can enjoy 360° Tokyo Bay view of Sky Blue and Marine Blue, including Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba, and Tokyo Tower, and further zoom up with the installation telescope from observation deck on the 7th floor of the terminal!
In addition, there are 16 red pillar objects in the front square on the first floor of the terminal, and if you look closely, the position and number of wind hole are slightly different, and the concrete pedestal is engraved on the plate in both Japanese and English.
First of all, there is "word WORDS"!
In the waterfront square facing the Rainbow Bridge, stainless steel cubic square objects are swayed by the sea breeze, but when the sea breeze stops at night, the Rainbow Bridge and surrounding illuminations are reflected on this surface to create a fantastic aurora color.
At that moment, a professional photographer is aiming for a photo opportunity!
For families, luxury cruise ships and sailing ships berthed from overseas enter the port, there are music band performances at the welcome ceremony and water discharge shows from marine boats, and children are delighted!
At night, the night view of the superb view is also used for shooting dramas and movies, and it is also very popular as a date course! (Of course, one of the Eight Night Views in Chuo-ku!)
Every year on the second Saturday of August, the Tokyo Bay Fireworks Festival hosted by Chuo-ku (this is also Chuo-ku's "8 Night Views!") At the venue, 12,000 launch fireworks feasts were launched with about 120,000 visitors to the Harumi venue alone, and more than 100 sightseeing boats such as houseboats were delivered, and this Harumi Island is super crowded, so please give me Safety First!
On weekends, facilities such as barbecue areas, fishing areas, and tennis practice areas are also available at the adjacent Harumi Wharf Park.
In commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the international sister port of Tokyo Port and New Jersey Port in New York, the 30th anniversary of Tokyo's New Jersey Garden in 1995, and Tokyo's Port was designated as a designated important port by Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The sculptor Koyomoto, the sculptor who was donated to the Haiku in 1981.
Beside it, at the time of the 100th anniversary of Osamu Nichichi with the Republic of Chile (9/1997), Japanese descent from Santiago, the capital of Chile, presented in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Santiago municipal administration in 1941, a Japanese descendant of the Chilean Navy practice sailing ship "Esmeralda" displayed on the main flag of the Chilean ceremony!
Why don't you make and see memories of one summer on Harumi Island?
