Toto norenkai (100 years from Edo to Tokyo's 3rd generation) Shigeru Kami

[Yurikamome] December 8, 2009 09:30

Do you all know the Toto Goodwill Association?

Founded in the early Meiji era from Edo to Tokyo, 53 stores are members of a long-established gathering that has been held by the family for more than 100 years.

Soba, eel, dumpling, Tsukudani, amazake, kimono, tabi, glasses, toothpicks, etc. ...

Most of the 53 stores of the Toto Goodwill Association were said to be a downtown area during the Edo period, and were born in the busiest place under the castle. Of these, 27 stores are located in Chuo-ku.

There are many famous places and historic sites near the head office of these stores, and there are many stores that will make you want to stop by if you go around with a map of "Chuo-ku Cultural Properties Tour".

I visited Shigeru Kami of Nihonbashi Muromachi and talked to Taku Inoue, Representative Director.

Shigeru Kami also belongs to the Toto Goodwill Association.

I listened to the story while showing old documents and past books.

In 1596, Ieyasu Tokugawa opened a fish market in Nihonbashi, and the Muromachi area flourished as a fish shore.

It seems that fish to be delivered to the Shogunate were collected in three places.

Nihonbashi was an important place to keep the kitchens of samurai and townspeople, but it was bustling for more than 300 years before it was relocated to Tsukiji due to the damage of the Great Kanto Earthquake.

When Mr. Taku Inoue was a child, one of the "Juken stores" listed in the "Kanei era Edo map" in Nihonbashi Muromachi was left.

There is a observation deck on the roof of the Mitsukoshi Main Store, which seems to be good far away.

At that time, there were many two-story houses, and there were greengrocers fish shop and bathhouses.

The area around Nihonbashi Muromachi today was home to many masonry people to create Edo Castle as "Honodawara Town".

"Yes" ... to offer "Daifuku Book" ... Money Book

"Shiodome" ... A place where the canal is intricate "Oiwake" ... A place where the road is divided into two

"Tsukiji" ... Reclaimed land (which also remained as the name of the town)

The expressway on Showa-dori was on the banks of the U.S.

While learning the above, I received a map of Nihonbashi Fish Market Map (around 1921) and asked various things.

In addition, we heard about the valuables of some famous shops belonging to the Toto Goodwill Association when it was founded.

 Origin of "Kami Shigeru"

The founder is Chojiro Kamizakiya and is from Kishu Kanzaki.

When Edo shogunate opened, he went to Edo and engaged in fishing, and founded in 1688 in his current location.

320 years of company history.

Later, he became Saburo Shigeru again, and his owner named Shigeru Daidai Saburo.

From the Meiji era, he took Kanzakiya's "God" and Shigeru Saburo Shigeru's "Shigeru" and called himself "Kami Shigeru".

 Why was "Halfpen" born?

The fin of the shark, which is a half-pen material, is called "Tawara Three Goods", and was one of the export seafood of Nagasaki Trade during the Edo period and was an important export source of Edo shogunate.

Offshore Shinagawa and Urayasu, there is a fishery under the direct control of the Shogunate called `` Sameba '', and after taking the `` fin '', many sharks were traded at the fish market in Nihonbashi, and Kamabokoya made it using the manufacturing method of shinjo. It is the beginning.

I'm currently ordering it from Kesennuma.
