Tokyo Station Red Brick Station Building

I went to Tokyo Station.

I go to see a nearby station used for commuting, going to school, and traveling.

You may think so, but I went to see it all the way.

 

The purpose is the red brick station building on the inside of the circle.

This is one of the redevelopment projects called Tokyo Station City.

It is intended to bring back the red brick station building to its original appearance in 1914.

Until now, the entire station building had been covered with a white construction cover, but it was removed and replaced.

It's the whole story.

It has been almost five years since the start of construction.

The bright colors of the bricks and the border of white granite jumps into the eyes vividly.

The slate on the roof is from Ogatsu in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture.

He said that he uses miraculously remaining materials while responding to the damage of the 3.11 Great East Japan Earthquake.

 

That said, the surrounding area is still surrounded by construction fences, so it is a form of peeking through the gaps of the fence.

The interior and the construction of the area are ongoing.

The station building we saw before the start of construction was rebuilt into a two-story building in 1945, when the 3rd floor and the north-south dome were destroyed by the war caused by the air raid.

At a large terminal where about 3,000 trains arrive and depart each day, construction will proceed while maintaining its transportation function.

A seismic isolation device will be installed underground in a building with a history of nearly 100 years, making it resistant to earthquakes.

The construction fence contains materials related to the history of Tokyo Station and the design of the building, so you can get a lot of mini-information that you want to talk to.

 

The ticket gate inside the dome also started to be used early this month, allowing you to see some of the decorated ceilings.

On July 1st, the central gate ticket gate will be used.

On October 1st, the Tokyo Station Gallery opened.

On October 3, the Tokyo Station Hotel, which had been closed, will open with a new outfit.

The grand opening of the red brick station building is said to be in October.

I'm looking forward to seeing the buildings change one after another.

That's right. The design of the red brick station building was designed by Dr. Kingo Tatsuno, a heavyweight in the Meiji Architecture world.

The main building of the Bank of Japan head office in Nihonbashi-Honishi-cho, Chuo-ku was designed by Dr. Tatsuno.
