Time slip in the Edo period at Nihonbashi Ningyocho Sako Luo (Sakura)

[kimitaku] December 30, 2012 09:00

Get off at Ningyocho Station on the Hibiya Line in the direction of Kodemmacho, proceed at the intersection toward Kanda, and turn left at the second intersection.

If you go shortly, you will find Nihonbashi Elementary School and Nihonbashi Library on your right.

This place was Saigo Takamori's residence in the Meiji era, and Ginza of the Shogunate was located around the Edo era.

Behind the elementary school, there is a kimono shop "Sako Luo" on the first floor of the left building.

sakurajyosei.jpg The elegant shop was run by a couple, and both of them were dressed in kimono.

It has been several decades since it opened here in Ningyocho. The atmosphere is as it is, a time slip in the Edo period.

In the shop, many cloths are displayed neatly and you want to pick them up.

・・・ I asked my husband in detail about kimono.

kiji.jpgWhat is a tailoring?

First, measure the dimensions of the customer's body. I measure it with a measure called whale shaku.

Dimensions are as large as men. Increase the dimensions by 3 minutes and add 5 parts to measure the dimensions.

In the past, many people were used as everyday clothes and shortened to make it easier to move. It is said that this is the main thing.

There is also a customer's preference, but the kimono varies greatly depending on each dress.

It seems that the length is different depending on how you take it.

Even under the coherence or when it comes to collapse, if the collar comes out and pulls it, it's easy to fix it.

I hear you have some promises to go to a kimono. If you keep it, you will be able to wear it beautifully and comfortably.

: : : Also, the wonderful thing about kimono is that if you unravel all the kimono threads, it will completely return to the original cloth.

It seems that it can be said to be the essence of ecology today. : : :

<Notes> Antimonos: : It is a fabric that tailors one kimono, its unit. Whale Shaku: : A unit for measuring objects, one shaku is a 5-minute (about 38 cm) of a curved shaku, originally a measure made of whale beards. Covenant: : The lower part of the collar

For more information, please see the homepage of "Sako Luo" (basic knowledge until tailoring).

It's really kind enough to explain. Beginner, a must-see for researchers.

sakurasyujinn.jpg When I asked my husband about the kimono situation, it is said that the number of kimono creators has now decreased.

Now, I can't eat it in kimono making, and in Kyoto where I recently visited, some people are taxi drivers.

He was a skillful traditional craftsman of Nishijin.

The master said that there were almost no spelling craftsmen or old traditional heirs, and that it was deplorable.

There is also a traditional craft that makes a cut on each finger's claw, passes it through it, and weaves it. It seems that the tradition from Nara period is now gone like a light of fire.

At the kimono shop "Sako Luo"

It is said that a "Kimono Training Class" is being held.
It is also said that "Introductory Course for Kimono Study" is also being held.

It seems that kimonos offer special products that are a bit different from other stores.

My husband said that he would like to visit us at any time, and that he would like to share this wonderful kimono culture to as many customers as possible.
