2013 "Town Walking" Tour Long-established course②

[Sam] 11:00 on September 4, 2013

DSC00034LS.JPGR0021293RSG.JPG Today (September 2) is the second of the 2013 "Town Walking" tour <Industrial Course> Long-established Course 2, which tours long-established and historic sites.

Although it was not a hot day, the sun shining tightly with a maximum temperature of 33 ° C is dazzling on this day.

At 10:00 am on the scheduled time, the participants selected by lottery gathered in front of "Ninben" on the 1st floor of Coredo Muromachi.

A small tour of three long-established stores "Ninben", "Eitarou Sohonpo" and "Yamamotoyama" that were established in the Edo period, and started a small tour of about 2 hours to ask about the history of the shop and the back story of the products.

The first shop: Mr. Ninben

Ihei Takatsu, the first founder of Ise, took the name of the store as "Iseya Italybei" and took Iseya and Italybei's i (Ninben) on the Japanese shop curtain seal and added the money (key shape) to make business solid, but Edo townspeople came to call it "Ninben". Previously, there was a store in the company building behind the back, but when "Choledo Muromachi" was opened, it opened. It is said that the headquarters building is currently being rebuilt, but a restaurant is being planned there. It is said that Japan's first gift certificate (silver plate dressed as bonito) was issued, and its replica is displayed in the store.

The second shop: "Eitarou Sohonpo"

It is said that Yasubee Hosoda, the third generation, folded a confectionery stall called Izutsuya until his father's generation and opened an independent store. Later, the name was changed to Eitaro based on his childhood name, and created "Arihira Sugar", "Umeboshi candy", "Amanano Sugar" and "Tamadaru" and so on, and it was handed down from generation to generation. Next, in addition to the explanations of "Noren", "Red boulder", "Mikage paving stones", "Brass joints", and "Japanese confectionery shop Eitaro Main Store Manufacturing Plant" that are left behind in the store, introduction of representative products. In addition, "Takadono" and "Tamada" (but only Tuesday Thursday) and "Amana sugar" are said to be handled only at the head office.

The third shop: Mr. Yamamoto

It is said that the first generation Kahei Yamamoto opened Edo and began trading tea and paper. The name Yamamotoyama is derived from the product name of Uji Sencha, which was sold in the Edo period and was popular, and when it was reorganized into a corporate organization in 1941, it was officially adopted as the company name.

Began selling seaweed in 1947. In addition, I hear that the famous phrase "I read from the top and Yamamotoyama from the bottom" has been decided by the current chairman to copy.

Inside the store, there is a signboard of Taro Okamoto's grandfather and calligrapher Katei Okamoto's calligraphy.

The small tour ended safely before noon.

Thank you very much for your participation.

Thank you to everyone in charge of each store, while you were busy.
