GINZA ILLUMINATION 2014 <Michi Hikari>

[Sam] 09:00 on December 4, 2014

R0031561ELS.JPGR0031577RSG.JPG On December 3, the illuminations of "Hikari Michi 2014" are lit in the city of Ginza.

Lighting period: Until January 18, 2015

Lighting time: 15:00~24:00

This year's theme is "Light that illuminates the future."

As in last year, around 74 glowing triangular pillars, along Ginza-dori (Chuo-dori) 1-chome to 8-chome, Harumi-dori St. from Sukiyabashi to Ginza 4-chome intersection, about 180,000 specially developed "special champagne gold" colored LEDs wrap gorgeously.

On Ginza Street, a ring that means "hope" shines on the upper part of the glowing triangular pillar, and on Harumi-dori St., guardrails and streetlights are decorated, creating a fantastic Hikari Michi.

A design inspired by such a situation where the thoughts of the people coming and going are connected and spread to a shining ring.

This is the fourth year of the “GINZA ILLUMINATION” project, which was started with the wish of the reconstruction of Tohoku.

This year, a new symbolic art work that embodys that thought has been newly installed and posted.

One is the 2m high spherical object "MOON" installed along the road near the 4-chome intersection.

The other is the art work exhibited at the Rumbini Art Museum in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, which supports and displays art activities for people with disabilities, posted on the temporary wall at the construction site at the corner of the 4-chome intersection.

In addition, during the illumination period this year, a charity donation box for Tohoku reconstruction support is provided in the supporting stores and stores that agree with the purpose.
