The annual "Genji Firefly Watching Party" begins at the special venue on the 2nd floor of "Souke Genkichichoan" Ginza Main Store (Ginza 7).
The festival started in 2004 and celebrates its 12th anniversary this year.
It is said that in the past Ginza, there were many "fireflies" flying around willows in early summer, and it is held every year because of the desire to think about Ginza in the past and enjoy the summer tradition of Japan.
Date: June 8-14 18:00-21:00
Approximately 600 Genji fireflies, born in Ginza, raised in Okayama, where the store's headquarters is located, have been brought back to Okayama, and raised in nature, have been released.
This year, in addition to the wall, firefly cages are also installed on the ceiling.
The lighting of the venue has been turned off, and visitors will be guided by staff penlights.
It is about one year for fireflies to become adults, and the lifespan of adults is 10 to 2 weeks.
It is a fantastic world that shines through ephemeral life.
In conjunction with the viewing party, firefly-related projects are being developed on each floor of the store.
In the Japanese sweets section on the first floor, the sweet and sour Hyuga Natsu nozeri “Ginza Fireflies” with the fantastic light that dances on the early summer night, and on the third floor “Shoto Iki” with black beans and honey-boiled yellow tomatoes on the 4th to 6th floor, Shoto Kaiseki cuisine is served as a creative dessert on the 4th to 6th floor.
At the exit of the viewing venue on the 2nd floor, plum wine "Ume Firefly" is being served.
It's a week of fireflies throughout the building.
Japanese firefly is very popular as a feature of early summer, and it seems that efforts are being made in various parts of the world. However, in order to support its survival, the waterside environment such as water quality, flow velocity, phytoplankton, sunshine, bottom sediment, etc., and larvae have landed in the soil.
