About 300 years ago, in 1719 (1719), during the era of the 8th shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate, Yoshimune, the town magistrate of Ooka Echizen Mamoru Tadasou formed a town fire extinguisher of "Iroha 48 groups". It is said to be the beginning of the organization. Entering the Meiji era, it was taken over as a "firefighting team", and then integrated into the wartime guard, and the "firefighting team" was abolished.

The Edo Fire Memorial Association was formed in 1939 as a descendant of the town fire extinguisher and fire brigade, became a public interest corporation in 1954, with the aim of preserving and inheriting the tradition of Edo fire extinguishing and the fire extinguishing culture, and continues today. .

The first ward is in charge of all Chuo-ku and a part of Chiyoda-ku.

The second group (Gumi) to the tenth group (Thousand groups) belong to Chuo-ku.

"Kikkori" was originally sung as a shout or signal to unite the power when extinguishing a fire with multiple personnel. In modern times, it has been transformed into a ritual away from work songs, and it has been transformed into something that can be heard, such as singing some songs. It is certified as a Tokyo designated Intangible Cultural Property.

It is a kind of slaughter. Various designs are elaborated by the group.

It is said that the clerk climbed up the roof under the fireplace and shook the coat to serve as a mark for firefighting activities, and inspired the morale of friends.

In "ladder riding", ladders sometimes serve as turrets for checking fire sites and equipment for rescuing human lives. It is said that it was adopted for training.

It is a scene that is reminiscent of the style of Edo.
