Land Use Plan for Tsukiji Market

 Today (January 9) in the Nikkei Shimbun morning edition regional economic aspect, an article about the use of the former site of Tsukiji Market was published, saying, "Tsukiji, large ships are also berthing / Toyosu, and promenade is being developed." The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will develop a hydrophilic base that can be used by tourists on the waterside of rivers and the sea. The company plans to install docks and terraces along the Sumida River in Tsukiji by 2024. A new dock for small ships will be established in both countries, which will lead to the promotion of the use of boat transportation. The aim is to spread the appeal of foreign tourists visiting Japan as a "city of water."
 The capital will dismantle the unloading pier along the Sumida River in Tsukiji Market, which will be relocated in November, and establish a new dock. A terminal where large sightseeing boats can be used. The company plans to set up a terrace where cafes can be opened.
 The Tokyo Metropolitan Government regards the Tsukiji area as the gateway to the Sumida River. The plan is to develop a boat route that connects tourist spots such as the Tokyo Sky Tree (Sumida, Tokyo) with the coastal area, which is being developed for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
