Remembrance of Nihonbashi Hanamachi

[Chuo Kotaro] March 2, 2016 16:00

Tokyo Chuo Net's "The 2nd Flower Town of Chuo-ku: Its History and Present"
(http://www.tokyochuo.net/issue/city/4_geisya/geisya.html) (in Japanese).
It seems that there were six flower districts in Chuo Ward: Shimbashi, Yanagibashi, Kayamachi, Shintomicho, Nihonbashi, Reigishijima.
(Hanayanagi famous book of 1926).

Currently, there are two flower districts that remain in Shimbashi and Kayamachi.
※I don't know if Yanagibashi's flower district is classified as Taito Ward, but according to a book, the union office was at that time.
It seems to have been in Nihonbashi-ku.

This time, we strolled through Nihonbashi Hanamachi, which is also the stage of Kyoka Izumi's novel "Nihonbashi".

The novel "Nihonbashi" is one of Kyoka Izumi's masterpieces published by Senshokan in 1914.
I borrowed a book at the library, but I couldn't understand the text in the old style at all.
I gave up and decided to watch a movie (1956 / Director Kon Ichikawa).
However, the cover and illustrations of the borrowed book were drawn by Komura Saitai, and are very tasteful.
I think it was worth borrowing a book just by seeing this picture.
I don't mention the contents of the novel, but the story focuses on the main character Takashi, Kiyoha, Osensei, Shinzo Katsuragi, and
A story woven by unique characters such as Akakuma develops.
Each scene of the movie is very similar to the illustrations of the novel, and the story, as well as the atmosphere, is the best.
It was a very interesting movie to watch. If you have a chance, I would like to take a look.

It is located in Nihonbashi Hanamachi, but the area around Motodaikumachi, Hinokimachi, and Sukiyacho (currently Yaesu 1-chome).
・It seems that it was a part of Nihonbashi 2-chome and 3-chome. In general, it seems to be around the red frame of the map.

If you walk around here, there is no scenery that appears in illustrations of movies or novels, but there is no view that appears in the illustrations of movies or novels.

There are alleys in the neighborhood, and the place where there are many drinking places is reminiscent of the flower town at that time.
The long-established Kappo cuisine Shimamura, the sake bar "Izumiya", the soba restaurant "Yabuku", the Kujumochi "Nagato".
I wonder if the long-established stores such as Oden's "Otayuki" have been around since the peak of Nihonbashi Hanamachi.
I took a walk in memory of those days. (Refer to the photo for alleys and streets.)

In addition, the Nihonbashi geisha Association proceeds from the Tokyo Station side of Nihonbashi Sakura-dori St. to Yaesu Nakadori.
There was. Fire insurance special map attached to the map story "Nihonbashi of that day" (Takeyodo)
You can check the name (commonly known as "Hiho Figure" around 25-30).
※On the map of this blog, it seems that the blue star seal was the place where the union was located.

In the movie "Nihonbashi", scenes of Ichiishibashi and Enmei guardian of children and travelers (Nipponbashinishi Riverside Jizoji Association) often appear.
I'll come. Enmei Jizo-son preserves the "Sensei's figure", which is a new actor Hanayanagi.
It was dedicated when Taro Sho played the role of Sensei. This picture also drew the cover and mouth picture of the novel.
It is due to Komura Yukidai. The picture is decorated in main hall, and you can see it from outside.
(According to the explanation version, it seems that applicants can see the picture if they request.) 。
In addition, it seems that Enmei Jizo-son has a benefit as a marriage.
Ichiishibashi and Enmei guardian of children and travelers were shown on the map with red stars.
