DSC_0672ELS' (2). jpg On October 1, a new commercial facility "Okura House" (Shin-Okura Main Building) opened at the Ginza 2-chome intersection.

Cartier's flagship store "Cartier Ginza Boutique" opens on the 1st to 3rd floors, Japanese cuisine "Ginza Kicho" on the 4th floor, Allday casual dining "bills" on the 12th floor, beauty salons and other clinics and cosmetic surgeries on the 5th to 7th floors, and office zones on the 8th to 11th floors.

DSC_0669RSG (2). jpgAt the same time, the "Arc Light Memorial Light" has been rebuilt and has been lit again since September 26.

This is a place that is said to have been lit open to the public for demonstrations by Kihachiro Okura, one of the founders of the Tokyo Dento Company in 1882, using a rice generator.

In 1956, as a commemorative light for "Japan's First Electric Street Light Land", the "Arc Light" was reprinted by the hands of the people concerned, and the Nishiki-e "Tokyo Ginza Electric Light Building" depicting the past. A bronze plate "Electric Light Pillar Monument" casting the figure was attached to the side wall.

The light of the arc light, which is said to be 2,000 candlelight, is far brighter than gas lights and oil lamps, and is compared to `` one heavenly road, two moons, and three arc lights in Ginza '' It is reported that many visitors came over every night.

It was rebuilt as the second generation in 1972, and the third generation in 1986, and was once removed in 2012 after Great East Japan Earthquake.

The 4th-generation monument is the same design as when it was installed. I heard that it was about 12m high and that what used to be a mercury lamp was changed to LED, and that the fire shop (hoya) made of glass was changed to resin.
