At "Gallery Yaesu Tokyo" in the Yaesu Underground Shopping Center, "Blowing by the Wind of Setouchi-Reiko Shiota Botanical Art Exhibition-" is being held.
Works that precisely depict plants are displayed throughout the venue.
Botanical art is said to be "botanical painting", and it seems that the picture in the botanical picture book is that.
It seems that there are some promises in botanical art, and it is a rule to draw full-scale, not draw background, and not draw artificial objects (flower pots, vases, etc.)
The works on display are carefully depicting the plants, keeping those promises.
Moreover, it is beautiful and powerful.
I was even more surprised to hear that these works were painted with transparent watercolor paints.
I think it's a lot of patience and concentration.
Mr. Shioda was fascinated by the world of botanical art at the age of 40 and started drawing. He has won many times at the plant painting contest, including the highest award.
The title "Blowing in the Wind of Setouchi" is because he has been producing works while traveling back and forth between Tokyo where he lives and the seaside log houses in Kagawa Prefecture.
You can see the delicateness and beauty of the work by actually seeing it in the gallery.
The event period is from Monday, February 27 to March 5 (Sun).
Opening hours are from 10 am to 7 pm, and the last day is until 3:30 pm.
Mr. Shioda's consent was given to the photography in the gallery, and a friendly and polite explanation of botanical art was given.
Thank you very much
