Currently, the exhibition of "Kanda Myojin Festival Rei Higashi Nihonbashi 3-chome Tachibana Town Association" is being held at the Bakuro-Yokoyama Station Gallery Corner on the Toei Shinjuku Line. The history of Tachibana Town Association and Kanda festival is introduced.
The current Higashi-Nihonbashi Sanchome was originally named Tachibana-cho. This exhibition is planned and held by the Tachibana Town Association. The location is an underground passage (outside the ticket gate) from Bakuro-Yokoyama Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line to JR Bakurocho. It is on display until May 15th. The portable shrine patrol road and detailed time are also posted, and it is a very fulfilling and interesting content, so even if you are commuting to school, by all means!
Well, here, "Kanda festival is Chiyoda-ku? Isn't it related to Chuo-ku? "Maybe you think. It is true that Kanda Myojin is located in Chiyoda Ward, but Nihonbashi in Chuo-ku corresponds to shrine parishioner locally.
The three major festivals in Edo are the Kanda festival, Sanno and Fukagawa festivals. The Kanda festival and Sanno Festivals take place every year, but since the Edo period, "The Sanno Festival cruise route is south of Edo Castle and the Kanda festival cruise route north of Edo Castle." Now, the area south of Tokyo Station is Sanno Festival and the north is Kanda festival. In other words, Nihonbashi is in the middle of Kanda festival.
That's why the city has been in this state for another month.
Since Chuo-ku was established in 1947, it has organized street names and house indications in the city. . While most of the town names from Edo, Tachibana-cho was changed to "Higashibashi 3-chome" in 1971, and the old town names disappeared from the display. The local people who regret this continued to work on "Let's leave the place name of Tachibana-cho" and led to the above-mentioned exhibition at Bakuro-Yokoyama Station (Bakuro-Yokoyama Station is located in Yokoyamacho, a neighboring town of Tachibana-cho). The mikoshi of the Tachibana Town Association is wonderful for both adult portable shrine and child portable shrine.
On the street, both the current house indication and the display of "Tachibana-cho" appear in this way.
During the Edo period, there was a separate temple at Nishi Honganji Temple, and many houses sold Tachibana as temple town. This Nishi Honganji Temple Besin Temple was later Tsukiji Honganji Temple. In the great fire of the Meiryaku era, it moved from Nihonbashi to Tsukiji (1679).
The current parcels and house indications have changed significantly from the Edo period after the earthquake and war, but the relationship and pride of the "festival" that has continued for hundreds of years and the name of the town can be felt just as you walk around the city . From now on until autumn, not only Chuo-ku but also Tokyo as a whole will be the festival season!
