I want to remember "March 10th, Tokyo Peace Day"

[Edamame] 09:00 on March 12, 2018

This is Edamame, a correspondent with children.

Today, March 10.

It was a normal Saturday, so I took my daughter Azuki and went for a walk to the Sumida River Terrace.

On the way.

Many people in front of Hamacho Kuminkan (the children's house is also included, so they are well taken care of).

And, unlike usual, flowers are also offered, and everyone is joining hands together.

Oh, that's right.

Today is the day of the Great Tokyo Air Raid.

Today in 1945, at 0:08 a.m., the U.S. Air Force B-29 bomber.

Flying over Tokyo, a large air raid was carried out, causing the greatest damage.

At present, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has designated this day as "Tokyo Peace Day" and seems to be holding various events.

And why do so many people gather in Hamacho Kuminkan?

The reason is this relief.

At that time, there was "Hamacho Elementary School".

And on the night of the Tokyo Air Raid, two teachers and janitors were killed here.

The elementary school was also brought back to dust.

In addition, many schools were rebuilt to withstand fire after the Great Kanto Earthquake.

It seems that many people have been evacuated to elementary school.

The power of U.S. air strikes is far beyond expectations.

It seems that many people who were evacuated were also killed.

The relief was created by alumni at Hamacho Elementary School in 1990.

“Speak to your children from heaven and protect them.

To all the gentle people engraved in our minds

I pray that you will be blessed with peace and peace."

There was something in my heart.

The memories of Great East Japan Earthquake on the next day, March 11, are new.

And it’s easier to remember what you’ve experienced.

(Actually, I became a refugee that day, and after all, I spent the night at work.)

It seems that there is a situation where it is difficult to remember about the Great Tokyo Air Raid.

Nonetheless.

I don't think we should never forget the day when we think about the value of peace.

The second half of the relief text

“I swear that this is the case again.”

I'd like to hide this word.
