Shiran (silane) planted on the Sumida River Terrace of Tsukuda Park, southwestern part of Chuo-ohashi Bridge, is at its best.
The appearance of clusters creates a stunning landscape.
Shiran is an indian grass of the family Orchidaceae. In the orchid family, it is considered to be one of the strong and easy-to-growing varieties. Every year, around the end of the flower stem, a splendid red-purple flower is closed downward and several flowers bloom. Of the six petals (3 outer flower coats, 3 inner flower coats), one of the inner flower coats is a characteristic shape called lip petals.
Because it is easy to increase from seeds, new breed breeding is also thriving, cool white flower "Shirahana Shiran" (also known as white column), "lipstick purple orchids" with lipstick applied to the tip of the lip valve, and spotted "Urish purple orchids" are produced.
