The sidewalk in Chuo-ku is interesting! 2 [Flowering Town Corner]

[Minato kid] May 10, 2018 12:00

Hello, this is Minato kid. "The sidewalk in Chuo-ku is interesting!" In the second installment, we will feature "Flowering Town Corner".

♪ Town planning with flowers

On the sidewalk of Chuo-ku, there are about 190 flower beds and planters named "Flowering Town Corner" throughout the ward, and are managed by volunteers living or working in the ward. Seasonal flowers are scheduled to be replanted four times a year, each of which is prepared for two types.

This is a planter installed on St. Luke Street on Akatsuki Bridge. As we talked to the staff of "Chuo-ku Environmental Civil Engineering Department Water and Green Section", we will introduce the flow of volunteer activities. .

You can check the location of the flowerbed on the Chuo-ku homepage "Flower blooming town corner flower bed guide map".

It seems that you can hope for your favorite flowerbed, such as near your home (if you already have volunteers, choose another place). If you have a flowerbed that you want to try, you should contact the Water and Green Division.

Once the flower bed (or planter) in charge is decided, submit a form such as a participation application form and take care of daily care such as replanting flowers, watering, fertilization and weeding. The type of flowers to be planted is determined throughout the year, and the flower shop contracted with the ward will prepare it.

Replanting time is scheduled for May, September, November, and February. The flower shop delivers flowers directly to the flower bed. At that time, I'll get in touch with you when you're going. In addition, it is possible to have it delivered to your home, but it is difficult to move to the flower bed with the flower, so everyone seems to have it delivered to the flower bed.

Regarding watering, if there is a park nearby, it seems that you can draw water from the faucet or public toilet at the drinking fountain. If there is no such facility, many people will draw water from their homes to plastic bottles and carry them to flower beds.

It is said that a volunteer briefing is held once a year to exchange opinions between volunteers and check the one-year schedule. .

Shovels, gloves, fertilizers, etc. are provided by the ward.
 I'll take out volunteer insurance.

♪ Green Adapt System

In March 2010, Chuo-ku created the "Green Adapt System". This is intended to create a system that can work with inhabitants of a ward and workers in the ward for the realization of the "Hana no Chuo-ku Declaration" (established in April 1989). Aiming for a beautiful city surrounded by flowers and greenery and a clean city, volunteers are working every day to clean and beautify parks, green spaces, roads, etc., as well as "flowering town corners".

This is the flower bed of Akashicho, the settlement of Chuo-dori. The planting in May is coming soon! It seems that Blue common sage and Impatiens are scheduled this year. I'm looking forward to it! Volunteer applications are being accepted at any time at the ward office 7th floor "Water and Green Section" window.
