1. August 16, 2018 12:00

This year, 50 years after Tsuguji Fujita's death, special exhibitions have been held in several places, and we will guide you to two things related to Chuo-ku.

One is the "50 Years After Death Tsuguji Fujita Exhibition" being held at Gallery Tanaga in Ginza 7-chome.

Gallery Tanaga opened in 1969 as the only art gallery in Japan that handles Western painting masters. It was also the founder Kiyoji Tamenaga who deepened friendship with buffet, Fujita, Ogis, etc., and introduced ecole de Paris painters such as Modilia-ni, Chagall, and Utriro, which were rarely known in Japan at the time. "This time, more than 40 exhibitions of masterpieces such as oil paintings and drawings that stand out of line drawing" (from HP)

The other is the "50 Years After Death Tsuguji Fujita Ceiling Exhibition" being held at the Guest House Akasaka Rikyu. The reason why it is "Chuo-ku related" is that this ceiling painting was displayed on the ceiling on the second floor of a Columban confectionery store in Ginza 6-chome. I went right away and saw it.

The guesthouse is the only Neo Baroque-style Western-style palace in Japan built in 1909 by architect Tokuma Katayama in the place where the Nakayashiki of the Kishu Tokugawa family was located, and it is the first building since the Meiji era.

Columbang was founded in Omori in 1924. In 1929, a store was opened at the site of Ginza 6-chome Triangle Hall. (It seems that you do not know the location of this "triangle hall" according to Koichi Noguchi's "Ginza Cafe History") After that, the Ginza Colombang Main Store will be opened on the west side of Ginza Street, on the corner of Ginza 6-chome Kojunsha Street. According to Columban's website, "The first floor will be a modern style, the second floor will be an ancient French style salon, and the second floor salon will have a ceiling mural by Tsuguji Fujita in 1935." In 1975, this ceiling painting was donated to the Guest House. "The founder, Kuniki Kadokura, was a Daizen dormitory worker in Imperial Household Agency who was involved in making sweets." There was an explanation of the guest house guide from the edge.

Columbang made the first shortcake in Japan, and it was Columbang that held Japan's first "Paris Festival" in Ginza in 1931. The six donated ceiling paintings are open to the public.

It seems that it is usually displayed in the entrance hall and the director's office, but it is a luxurious time to be able to see Fujita's work while visiting luxurious rooms that have only been seen on TV, such as press conferences after the summit meeting. is. Since it is a reservation system, there is no congestion, and there is a guide on each floor to explain carefully. The works are the following six points.

"Women in the vineyard", "Mother and daughter", "Women and musicians in a row of poplar trees", "Women and musicians holding dogs", "Women and servants", and "Women and angels" are oil paintings and canvas. Since it was a ceiling painting, it was explained that "it is drawn assuming that it looks up from below", but it is choppy to look at the drifting stones at that angle.
