The "Katsuya Kikuchi Beauty Painting Exhibition Gion no Mai" is currently being held at the "Noevia Ginza Gallery", a gallery on the first floor of the Noevia Ginza Building facing Ginza 7-chome, Namiki-dori St.
The event period is from Monday, September 3 to November 2 (Fri).
The event is held from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays it is until 5:00 pm.
Katsuya Kikuchi is a painter living in Kyoto, who has been drawing beauty paintings based on the real Maiko for 15 years.
All the works on display at the venue depict a pose of a Japanese dance actually danced in Gion.
Each work has an explanation of the costume and dance, and if you read and appreciate it, you can understand the contents of the work more deeply.
In the first place, Mr. Kikuchi has been engaged in music, dance, and stage-related work all the time, and after retiring at the age of 58, he started drawing on his own.
In order to express the charm of stage expression, it is said that beauty paintings are drawn on the theme of dance by Maiko geisha.
I felt that the meticulous expressiveness backed by the creator's skill of dance made the beauty of the work stand out.
In fact, if you look at the work at the venue, you will be able to feel the artist's detailed and delicate expression method.
This is the first exhibition of works by a unique Japanese painter Kikuchi in Tokyo.
In addition, this time, we received special consent for photography in the gallery, and Mr. Kikuchi, who was at the venue on the day, explained directly how to create the work and the background of the artist.
Thank you very much
