From December 4th (Tuesday) to December 22nd (Saturday), Kengo Nakamura's "Modern Lovers" exhibition and "JAPANS" exhibition are being held at the same time at the gallery, Megumi Ogita Gallery, on the first basement floor of the Ginza Otsuka Building, Ginza 2-chome, since April 2015.

When Nakamura's work was exhibited in this gallery before, I saw it, and the work with motifs such as the balloon of manga, the silhouette of the character, and the floor plan of the one-room apartment, I had a very fresh and unique impression and remained strong in my memory.

This exhibition, as shown on the gallery's website, says, "In the last year of Heisei, 150 years from the Meiji era, Nakamura said that he dared to think about 'modern' through 'art' of this archipelago, Through this attempt, he tried to culminate the themes he had been working on so far, and it is certainly an exhibition with a different atmosphere than before.

Nakamura said that he studied Japanese painting at university and graduate school, and at the "Modern Lovers" exhibition, works depicted in the process of reconstructing modern paintings from impressionist, mainly in Western Europe, printing them on Japanese paper, and then filling them with rock paint, the pigment of Japanese painting.

A mysterious work that is not Western painting like Western painting, not Japanese painting like Japanese painting, in a word, is it the "modern" that the author says?

Anyway, there are a number of attractive works that I want to see all the time.

It's a busy time for Shiwasu, but it's a good idea to spend a relaxing time in a quiet gallery on the first basement floor.

We recommend that you stop by and take a look.
