2019 Wako "New Year's Bell"

[Sam] January 4, 2019 14:00

DSC08201ELS'.jpgDSC08205RS'G.jpg In response to the voice of "I want to welcome the beginning of the new year with the bell of Ginza 4-chome," Wako's "New Year Bell" has been implemented since 1983.

On the evening of December 31, when the number of neons decreased and calmed down, 45 seconds before the New Year, the Westminster chime of the Wako clock tower began playing a prologue in 2019.

When the chime finishes ringing, the moment when the first hit of the 12 o'clock bell rings after the lingering sound is exactly the beginning of the New Year, 2019.

Along with the countdown chorus, the Wako clock tower and the entire main building are lit up, and its appearance emerges in the night sky of Ginza. Lighting time: 0:00~0:20

The bell tells the New Year, and the shutter of the Wako show window facing the intersection opens, and the message "Happy new year" is attached to celebrate the beginning of the last year of Heisei.
