[Yo-chan] January 13, 2019 14:00

Admiring the window and display of the New Year 2019, coloring Chuo-dori, which connects Ginza, which is the busiest downtown in Japan and constantly transmits the latest trends, and Nihonbashi, which is lined with long-established and famous department stores from the Edo period. Road nickname of Ginza

[Yo-chan] December 31, 2018 14:00

1 First

In Chuo-ku, a total of 98 routes, including 43 routes in the Kyobashi area, 45 routes in the Nihonbashi area, and 10 routes in the Tsukishima area, are nicknamed for roads that play an important role as living spaces for residents of the city. The route is set, but this time we focused on the north side of Showa-dori in the Ginza area. By the way, in Chuo-ku, it seems that it was in 1988 that officially named the road. At that time, the names that have been commonly used since ancient times were used as much as possible, and a new "Chuo-ku Road Nickname Setting Guidelines" was newly formulated and guidelines were established. The current outline was formulated in 2002. When we are going to give nickname, we submit to the mayor with documents and are discussed in selection committee, and the mayor will approve. As a criterion for selection, "We will respect widely and commonly used names." "The names of cultural properties, famous areas, slopes, bridges, public facilities, etc., which are generally easy to understand and familiar, use names related to them as much as possible." "In principle, names such as corporate names are not used. "

2 Ginza district road nickname map

The map is handwritten and I think it's unsightly, but please forgive me.

p-DSCN1701.jpg

The origin of the 3 Names

(1) Ginza Corridor Street: It was taken from Ginza Corridor Street under the expressway completed by reclaiming the outer moat in 1956. "Corido" means a French corridor, because it looks like a corridor on the west side of Ginza.

(2) Yasuaki Street: It was derived from Yasuaki Elementary School along the roadside, and a request for naming "Yasuaki Koji" or "Yasuaki-dori" was issued by the local community and became "Yasuaki-dori".

(3) Sukiya Street: It is based on the old town name "Sukiyabashi-cho".

(4) Hanatsubaki Street: Shiseido invested in maintenance funds, etc., and named Shiseido's symbol "Hanatsubaki" as the street name.

(5) Kojunsha Street: There is a Kojunsha building along the road.

(6) Sony Street: There is a Sony Building along the road.

(7) Namiki-dori St. : We planted a row of Western-style trees (Platanus) in Sojuro-cho, where village headman Sojuro Uchiyama lived in the early Edo period.

(8) Street: As an office of a union consisting of restaurants, geisha, and Okiya in Shimbashi Hanayagikai in the Meiji, Taisho and Showa eras, "Miban" was on this street, and at that time played a central role in this area.

(9) West Fifth Avenue Street: We added West Ginza's "West" to "Gobangai", which was popular in New York.

(10) Ginza Brick Street: The familiarity of Ginza Brick Street, which was the source of Ginza's prosperity in 1877, and the memory of the warm brick street will be preserved for future generations.

(11) Gomon Street: In 1710, there was the Shibakuchi Gomon, which was built in Shimbashi Kitazume as the gate of the Tokaido.

(12) Kinharu Street: In the Edo period, there was a mansion of Noh's Kinharu style.

(13) Ginza Suzuran Street: It was named after the appearance of many shops lined up in bells like a lily of the valley.

(14) Ginza Gaslight Street: In 1874, the first gas lamp was turned on in Tokyo. The nickname of "Ginza Gaslight Street" was set in 1993.

(15) Shinraku (Shiga Raki) Street: Facing the entrance at Shibakuchi Gomon in the Edo period, there was a resting place "Shinraku Chaya", and it was called "Shinraku Shinmichi".

(16) Azuma Street: According to the name of the town association, "4-chome Higashi-cho". It is because of the private land of Mitsukoshi that there is no indication on the way.

(17) Ginza Mihara-dori: In the past, the Sanjuken River flowed, and there was a bridge called Mihara Bridge.

(18) Miyuki Street: Emperor Meiji went to Tsukiji's Naval School, Suikosha, and Naval Medical School.

(19) Ginza Matsuya Street: Matsuya Department Store invested in the maintenance funds and named it.

(20) Ginza Marronnier Street: There are many shops and buildings in the Ginza area that resemble Paris on the street, and Paris's representative Marronnier was named in the street name. Marronnier is still planted today.

(21) Ginza Yanagi-dori St. : Willow trees are planted on the street trees.

(22) Ginza Sakura-dori St. : Cherry blossoms are planted on the street trees.

4.

Many of the streets with the nickname include the Ginza Hanatsubaki-dori Shopping Promotion Association, the Ginza Miyuki-dori Beautification Association, the Ginza Suzuran-dori Shopping Association, etc. We are making efforts to revitalize the region, such as holding events. I would like to enjoy the silver bra in one corner of my heart that the steady activities of these people are the source of the bustle of Ginza as a whole. 。

Sluice gates that protect the Tsukuda, Tsukishima, Kachidoki and Harumi areas

[Yo-chan] Nov. 14, 2018 14:00

In the Tsukuda, Tsukishima, Kachidoki and Harumi areas, there are five sluice gates to protect the town from floods. The sluice gate is set at the border between the outer waters separated by the external dike and the inner waters. If the water level in the outer waters rises due to storm surges, the sluice will be closed to prevent the water level from rising in the inner waters. The area is protected by 5 gates: 1 Sumiyoshi Suimon, 2 Tsukuda Suimon, 3 Asashio Suimon, 4 Hamamae Suimon, and 5 Tsukishima River Suimon. Each of the five sluice gates was different in shape and interesting, so I will introduce them.

p-Tsukishima sluice gate image. jpg

①Sumiyoshi Sluice Gate

It is a sluice gate that protects the Tsukuda area from floods such as storm surges. It is a single-leaf roller gate format, with a diameter of 4m x 1 series. It was completed in 1965.

②Tsukuda Sluice Gate

It is a sluice gate at the entrance to the Asashio Canal from the Harumi Canal. It is a double-leaf roller gate format with a diameter of 11.4m x 2 series. It was completed in 1963.

③Morning tide gate

It is a sluice gate at the entrance connecting the Asashio Canal and Tokyo Port. The effective width of 11.4m x 2 double Kannon opening has been adopted in a swing gate format with no height restrictions so that large ships can enter. It was completed in 1964. At present, after crossing Tsukiji Ohashi from the Tsukiji River, the dawn Ohashi of Loop Route 2 from the Kachidoki side to the Harumi side has been completed, so high boats cannot pass.

④Hamamae (Hamasaki) Sluice Gate

It is a sluice gate that prevents flood damage from Shinzuki Shimakawa. It is a single-leaf roller gate with a diameter of 8.4m x 1 line, but it is a sluice gate with no operation room at the top of the roller gate. It was completed in 1964.

⑤Tsukishima River Suimon

It is a sluice gate that prevents flood damage from the Tsukishima River, and is a single-leaf roller gate with a diameter of 11m x 1 series. It was completed in 1964.

p-Hamamae sluice gate. jpg p-Tsukishima River Suimon. jpg

④Hamamae Sluice Gate ⑤Tsukishima River Suimon

The Tsukishima River and the Shinzuki Shimakawa River both connect the Sumida River and the Asashio Canal, but the Tsukishima River is a river and the Shinzuki Shimakawa is a canal. Therefore, Tsukuda Suimon, Asashio Suimon and Hamamae Suimon are managed by the Tokyo Port and Harbor Bureau, which is the canal manager, and Sumiyoshi Suimon and Tsukishima River Suimon are managed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Construction, which is the river manager. I am. I felt a little uncomfortable in the situation where the managers of the sluice gates in the same area were different.

Green contact corner (3-10 to 11 Tsukuda)

[Yo-chan] 12:00 on October 7, 2018

On the side wall of dike between Aioi Bridge and Asashio Ohashi along the Harumi Canal at 3-chome Tsukuda, Chuo-ku, there is a "green contact corner" lined with flower pots for about 210m. Beautiful flowers bloom in spring and autumn, delighting the eyes of neighbors. Nearby is a monument (3-11-19 Tsukuda) of the Kaisuikan where Toson Shimazaki and Kaoru Osanai stayed. This is a place managed by the Water and Green Division Park River Section in Chuo-ku. Originally, neighbors who were in trouble with illegal dumping of garbage in vacant lots asked Tokyo to lend it as a place to grow flowers, and now the `` Water and Green Division Park River Section '' lends it to nearby people free of charge I am. There are 53 parcels, about 5m2 in size, flowerpots are placed in all parcels, and there are no vacant parcels at present. When a vacant lot comes out, it seems that a signboard will be issued and recruited each time. Each section has shelves in Chuo-ku, with three water taps and eight street lights. Lending is limited to nearby people who can manage the planting trees, and it seems that it will be canceled if proper management is not possible. Use will be extended for 2 years if updated in 2 years. In addition, there are rules for the use of this parcel, and it is determined that "do not lend the parcel again", "If you put a tree, put it on the shelf installed by the ward", "do not plant vegetables", etc. . According to the ward, this is the only approach here. There is also Tsukuda 3-chome Park (with toilets) nearby, so you can relax, so please visit us. It seems that spring and autumn are recommended for the season.

Burying the pillars of Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine Daibori

[Yo-chan] September 3, 2018 14:00

For four days from August 3 to 6, the Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine Festival was held once every three years, and six large banners greatly excited the Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine Festival. . After the festival, on August 26, 19 days later, the pillars were once again buried in Tsukuda moat, waiting quietly for the turn three years later.

I went to cover such a burial work, so I will tell you about the situation.

The work began around 9 o'clock with a crane truck arriving on the 26th (Sun) at around 8 o'clock.

About 40 people soaked in the water, got wet, and worked together to work. First, a large banner emerged on the Tsukuda River, and the drainage of the moat to store it began.

At the end of the draining, a crane truck waiting on Tsukuda Kobashi lifted a pillar floating on the Tsukuda River and lined it in the moat.

The pillars were stored neatly in the moat, and soil was covered on it, and the burial work was completed around 13:00. During that time, there was no break for about four hours, and everyone was working hard under the control of the leader.

Everyone in Tsukuda-cho really had a hard time. I'm looking forward to seeing you again in three years.
