During the Edo period, this area seemed to have been the site of the Echizen Kuni Fukui feudal lord Matsudaira Echizen Mamoru.

The mansion was surrounded by moats on three sides.
It seems that this was called "Echizenbori".

It seems that the revetment of Echizen moat was masonry.

In the Meiji era, moats were gradually buried.

After the Great Kanto Earthquake, most of them were completely buried after the war.

The name of the town is Shinkawa and continues to this day.
