Kobikido Bookstore

[Apricot peony] August 24, 2012 08:30

I've heard rumors since the opening of the store, but I didn't go all the time because I was afraid of getting stuck in the dotbo.
But after all, I went there.

The shop is a used bookstore specializing in Kabuki, movies, and theater, "Kindo Bookstore".

Enter the road between Kabukiza and Bunmeido, climb the stairs next to the door of Akaneya Coffee Shop, and you will find a treasure mountain!
For those who love Kabuki, theater, and old Japanese movies, it's a place you won't get tired of hours.

Mr. Kobayashi, the owner, came to Okumura Shoten, which was behind Matsuya.
Okumura Shoten, which started with a night shop in Ginza after the war and was famous for having a rich assortment of Kabuki, classical performing arts, and theater related products, appeared in celebrities' essays, etc., but stopped by on the way back from Kabukiza I think some people may come.

Okumura Shoten mainly focused on used books, but this also has a wide selection of posters, flyers, bromides, colored paper, etc.
It takes a little courage to look for a pile of piles from the floor without being able to fit in the shelf, but just looking at the surface! If you have such a thing, you'll just forget the time.
However, I heard that there was not much smell of paper unique to old books, and if Kobayashi-san, the owner, wanted to do two things if he was independent and became free, one was incense. By burning, the other is playing music.
That's why the scent of incense drifted slightly, and the BGM flowing was Ryuichi Sakamoto.

When I told the shopkeeper Kobayashi, "I knew that it was opened here, but I had a lot of things I wanted and I was sorry for my eyes, so I didn't come until now." I often hear that story.
But you can feel free to come," he said, "and went along with a play with no other love.
Because he is relatively young, he feels a little different from the traditional image of "a used bookstore shopkeeper who is silent and difficult to handle".
When asked for a regular holiday, he said, "When I'm doing a Kabuki performance, I'm free in principle.
That's why it was hard at the time of Sarunosuke's attack (laughs), "but the details are posted on the website, so I would like you to look there.

Photo of "just after the end of the war" around Tsukiji

[Apricot peony] August 16, 2012 08:30

The other day, I had the opportunity to have a person who lived in Tsukiji before the war show an old photo.

One of the most interesting things was "just after the end of the war" from the roof of "Navy Military Medical School (now Cancer Center)".
At that time, this building was requisitioned by the army and ordinary Japanese could not enter, so the photos at this angle seem to be very rare, but a soldier who happened to meet him said, `` I took a picture near your house. "

camera The first one is a picture of Ginza on the left side of the rooftop.
The statue on the left end is a bronze statue of Arisugawa Shrine, which seems to be quite large.
The Tsukiji River has not yet been reclaimed, and at the bottom right is the Kitamon Bridge, which has now disappeared, and the bridge in the middle is the Saijo Bridge.
At present, there are many buildings ahead of it, including Jiji Tsushinsha, but in this photo, there are few tall buildings and there are places that are vacant, and instead of Showa-dori ahead, Ginza 4-chome You can look up to the "Wako Clock Tower" at the intersection!
It seems that there were quite a few buildings demolished in advance because this was "compulsory evacuation" in order to prevent the spread of fire, rather than burning in an air raid.

camera The second one is the angle looking at Harumi-dori St. from the entrance of the current Tsukiji Social Education Center, and straight to the left to Ginza.
The river in the foreground was reclaimed afterwards, and the Tsukiji Social Education Center was built in that place.

It is said that "Tsukiji was spared from air raids because of St. Luke Hospital," but incendiary bombs aimed at Ginza seemed to fall considerably due to their aim and being washed away by the wind. "I can't forget that Schulsul and fire ran on this street," said the person who showed the photo.

It's been 67 years since the war ended.
Those who can talk about such things have become older, but I thought that we had to inherit the history of the city where we live.

"Kibun Tsukiji" is currently under renovation.

[Apricot peony] August 12, 2012 08:30

ck1203_12080131.jpgDid you know that Tsukiji originated from kneaded products such as hampan and Satsumaage, which are indispensable for ingredients for oden, and "Kibun", which is familiar with various foods?

Even now, the shops in the out-of-market market are always crowded with customers, but they are now closed for renovation work.
Until now, we have been selling freshly-made hot Satsuma fried chicken, etc., but after the renewal, it seems to evolve further, and I am looking forward to it now!
On the day of the reopening on September 19 (Wednesday), I have to go! !

Opened "Platto Tsukiji" in Tsukiji Outer Market

[Apricot peony] August 1, 2012 08:30

  ck1203_1208012.jpg
On the 28th (Saturday), "Platto Tsukiji" opened as a general information center for Tsukiji Outer Marketnew.

The place is in a building lined with Sensha bills on the right from Shin-ohashi-dori St. toward Namiki Shrine.

"I came to the Tsukiji market I saw on TV and magazines, but there are too many shops and I don't know where it is," or "What is a souvenir of Tsukiji?" I sometimes hear voices such as, but it is a place that I can't hope for for these people.

The name "Platto" has two meanings: the basis (platform) for disseminating information on the Tsukiji Outer Market, and the fact that you want Tsukiji to come casually. He seems to have been selected from many applications.

   ck1203_1208014.jpg

When you enter, there is a large map on the wall, and at the information desk next to it, you can make inquiries and get a map, but there are also pamphlets for foreigners.
We also sell goods, so you can use this as a souvenirgood.

ck1203_1208011.jpg

In addition, there is a smoking area (relaxing lounge) in the toilets and rest areas for full smoking, so you can rest slowly after you are tired of shopping.

By the way, in principle, the “in-house market” is a Sunday holiday and a few Wednesdays a month, but some “out-of-office market” is always open, so this “Platto Tsukiji” It seems that it is open from 8:00 to 14:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 14:00 on holidays. (We plan to close during the year-end and New Year holidays)

ck1203_1208015.jpg

At the grand opening ceremony, 500 people will receive a cold storage bag by lottery.

I was able to win and receive it.

It's quite big and I'm looking forward to going to Tsukiji from now on.
