The charm of Chuo-ku-ku-"Sumida River and Seine" ... Part 3 {Island≫

[Shitamachi Tom] September 30, 2011 08:30

This is the third in a series that rediscovers the charm of Chuo-ku while comparing along the edge of the friendship river between the Sumida River and the Seine. (Please refer to the “Introduction” section for “Prologue”. "Sumida River and Seine" ≪Introduction≫

  St. Louise Island 2.JPG

It may be {island} that accents the flow of the river and spreads the landscape. You can look at the island from the riverbank, or cross the island to enjoy a kind of "other world".shoe

There are two famous islands floating in the Seine. One is the island of St. Louise. It is a small island that retains a calm old town. It's a great place to enjoy the atmosphere of Paris while strolling.

Seeing the island of Shite _R.JPG
The other is said to be the birthplace of Paris (Shite Island). A lot of people always gather as a lively tourist spot, centering on the famous [Notle Dam Temple]. It's the charm of the city that it's bustling.gemini

Well, there are several islands in Chuo Ward. What floats on the Sumida River are [Ishikawajima] and [Tsukuda Island]. In the first place, it was an island like a shallow water floating in the sea of Edo. It is now far away from the sea, but it is familiar as a landscape downstream of the Sumida River.

Ishikawajima Lighthouse _R.JPGThe monument of the old Ishikawajima Lighthouse has been restored in the section of Tsukuda Park, creating a taste. [Ishikawajima] is also famous for the establishment of a "Hitoshishoro" (rehabilitation facility for unjuku people) by the proposal of Heizo Hasegawa, a "Kinhei" in the late Edo period. The name of [Ishikawajima] is said to be derived from the name of Mr. Ishikawa, who once had a mansion in this area. In addition, near the Meiji era, a shipyard of the Shogunate was set up, leading to the current IHI.ship

Ukiyo-e Tsukuda Island _R.JPG
[Tsukuda Island] It has been known as a scenic spot since the Edo period, as depicted in Hiroshige's Ukiyo-e. At that time, I could feel a little suburban feeling.

Regarding the history of this island, many people have stated, such as the connection between Ieyasu Tokugawa and fishing villages in Settsu and Tsukuda, so I will omit it, but I still value it as a town that still retains the atmosphere and humanity of old Machiya I think.house

Viewing Tsukuda Island _R.JPG

Both cities shared the taste depth of the islands that preserve history and culture today.

Please choose your favorite place and enjoy exploring the Sumida River. I'm sure you'll get more and more attractive.heart

Morning in Kachidoki (Light, Sea and Ship)

[Yurikamome] September 21, 2011 08:30

In the clear early morning of autumn, sunlight illuminates the scenery from the side.

The western ridgeline of the chimney (cross-section triangle ▲) at Harumi Incineration Plant is shaded by the sun.

It was shining brightly as shown in the picture.

Compare the sides of the surrounding buildings. It's strange. Why is it?

2011_0918 Harumi Incineration Plant Chimney 003.JPG, which reflects the morning sun twice and shines.

I looked around and looked for him.

Considering the direction of the sun, a super high-rise apartment is located about 350 meters north-northwest of the chimney.

The light reflected on the southeast glass wall hit the ridgeline behind the chimney.

It's considered to be something. It takes a limited number of minutes to take this picture because the sun moves.

It is a skit of continuous reflection of light 150 to 200 meters above the ground.

In the same way, the glass windows of buildings that stand in various angles from the southwest to the northwest of Chuo-ku and Minato-ku.

This is also wonderful because the morning sunlight is reflected from here and there one after another.

For example, the MORI Tower at Green Hills in Atago, about 2600 meters west-northwest strongly reflects the morning sun.

I did it. It is a dazzling, shining building in the center on the other side of the Hamarikyu Garden in the photo below. The light is in the garden

It was reflected on the sea surface in the foreground.

2011_0918 Atago G Hills MORI Tower 004.JPG reflecting the morning sun

This time, we could see a straight line reflected light on the opposite bank in the southwest direction. Park Shibaura Building.

If the wall of the building is flat, the entire surface will glow, but it shines straight like this wall is like a tea tube.

It's because it's a cylindrical plane.

That's good, the strange thing is that the light reflected on the sea surface is not a straight line.

Of course, the sea surface is a horizontal plane. Even if there are small waves, the reflected light will be blurred.

And please take a look. The shape reflected on the sea surface is "reverse hatena mark".

But what is not always this mark ...? ・What's it?

2011_0918 The reflection of the morning sun is reverse hatena mark 001.JPG (It is considered to be a subtle, slight mad of glass windows, and mischief such as ripples.)

The southwestern quay of Harumi Wharf is for government ships.

In the daytime, the sun from the south illuminates the other side of the ship, and this side is shaded.

However, as early as in the morning, sunlight illuminates this side of the ship, so it looks beautiful.

By the way, on the left is the Fisheries Agency's fishery research vessel "Teryo Maru" (2,214 tons, 87,6 m, completed in May 1998).

On the right is the large training boat "Seiun Maru" (5,890 tons, 116m, completed in September 1997) at the Voyage Training Center.

If you look at it, you have a dream!   In the foreground is the fire boat of the seaside fire department.

2011_0918 Harumi Government Ship Wharf 005.JPG

This is the building of the total glass of the passenger ship terminal at Harumi Wharf. I'm shining in the morning sun.

We welcome those who go on a boat trip or from overseas who have visited Tokyo.

Various Ceremonies and meetings will also be held.

When you pass through the Rainbow Bridge, you can see this and feel, "Oh, I'm back to Tokyo."

The charm of Chuo-ku-ku-"Sumida River and Seine" ... Part 2 ≪Ships≫

[Shitamachi Tom] September 21, 2011 08:30

This is the second series of a series that rediscovers the charm of Chuo-ku while comparing along the edge of the friendship river between Sumida River and Seine. (For the prologue, see the “Introduction” section.) “Sumida River and Seine” “Introduction”≫

This time, we will pay attention to the "Ship".ship

Seine and Ship (1)_R.JPGIt is a ship that supports people's exchange and logistics along the flow of the river along Aya. It is also a stage used by many people as a highlight of sightseeing.

In Paris, tourist boats are constantly sailing to the Seine, bringing cheers from tourists all over the world. Everyone is drunk with the tasteful buildings and historical bridge scenery seen from the boat. The river breeze seems to be playing the rhythm of the trip comfortably.note

201107 Kachidokibashi and Boat (2)_R.JPGThere are many cruises on the Sumida River. There are many courses that connect the neighboring Taito Ward and Koto-ku, but above all, the scenery of the river in Chuo-ku is diverse and you will not get tired. You can enjoy the scenery of the unique bridges that appear one after another and the towns that change the atmosphere.

The [Tokyo Waterside Line] operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Park Association has two docks in the ward: [Hamarikyu] and [Akashicho / St. Luke Garden]. Occasionally, why don't you take a boat and enjoy the scenery of the Sumida River at an angle different from everyday life?eye

From this month, we have set up a course called “Nihonbashi River and Kanda River Tour” on the cruise. You can get on from the temporary Nihonbashi departure and arrival point and enjoy the atmosphere of Nihonbashi River, so please refer to it. Tokyo Waterfront Line “Nihonbashi River and Kanda River Tour”

Seine and Ship (2)_R.JPGIn both Paris and Tokyo, people gather on the waterside, and conversations give momentum to memories. Both the Sumida River and the Seine have a unique charm.

Please enjoy a relaxing time on board as a place for a lively gathering of urban culture.notes

"Three Colors" red spider lily <Tsukuda Park>

[Sam] September 21, 2011 08:30

R0014865S.JPG R0014860RSG.JPG Today is "the entrance of the equinoctial week."

As there is a saying saying, "The heat and cold to the equinoctial week," the event of the Higankai Buddhist memorial service, which celebrates the blessings of nature and honors its ancestors, has been established since ancient times.

The flower that symbolizes this season is "red spider lily". (Many of them have triple chromosomes.) Flowers bloom but don't actually tie. It is said that the bulbs are divided and nutritious, so it blooms all at once in autumn on the equinoctial week.

It is also unique that the flower season and the leaf season are different.

In satoyama, it shines well in the yellow of rice ears, blue of the sky, white of clouds, and green of vegetation, and bright red flowers have a presence in the city.

Here at Tsukuda Park, in addition to the red red spider lily / Manjushage (Cluster Amaryllis), the yellow shoki sensen (Shoki daffodil) and the light pink and white shirabana manjushage (Shirohana Cluster Amaryllis) (which is said to be a hybrid of red spider lily and Shokissen).

The charm of Chuo-ku-ku-"Sumida River and Seine" ... Part 1 ≪Bridge≫

[Shitamachi Tom] September 17, 2011 08:30

This is the first in a series that visits the charm of each town through the real faces of these two rivers, which are affiliated with the Sumida River, Seine and Friendship Rivers. Of course, as a result, you will feel the wonderfulness of Chuo-ku. I would like to introduce it from my own perspective.

First of all, it's a bridge. Speaking of "river", it's a "bridge", but after all, a unique bridge becomes a picture and becomes more familiar.ship

201107 Kiyosubashi _R.JPG

In Chuo-ku, "Sumida River Yatsuhashi" is selected among "Ohako 18 Views".

All the bridges in the city are unique and friendly, but the coolest design is [Kiyosu Bridge]. It is a good shooting spot due to the bendness of the Sumida River.

Of course, all the other bridges are very cool. I guess each person has a favorite bridge.

P1030178_R.JPG

In Paris, [Pon Nuff] is famous.
It means "new bridge", but it seems that it was the oldest bridge. Tourists are always taking commemorative photos. camera

Alexander III Bridge. jpg

Another thing I would like to introduce is [Alexander III Bridge] that decorates the Seine as the most luxurious bridge.
It is in front of the tourist attraction [Great Palace], and you will be fascinated by the wonderful sculptures.

201107 Seeking Kachidokibashi from downstream _R.JPG

Kachidokibashi, famous as the most downstream bridge of the Sumida River, is also a unique bridge.
It doesn't open or close anymore, but it's a famous bridge that you can think of along with its history.

Chuo-ku has been a “city of water” since ancient times, with water transportation and people coming and going. Just as the current [Sukiyabashi] became the stage of "Your Name", many famous bridges have produced many dramas.

P1030156_R.JPG

The bridge is a place where people come and go. Where something meets. A place where culture interacts. ・・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ Remains in memories in various situations.heart

It's a good idea to sit on the railing of the bridge and look at the scenery of the town at a moment.

Attraction of Chuo-ku-ku-"Sumida River and Seine" ... ≪Introduction≫

[Shitamachi Tom] September 15, 2011 11:30

So far, I've introduced some of my favorite spots in Chuo-ku, but in order to further promote international appeal, I would like to explore the depth while comparing it with the scenery of Paris, France. .

For a long time, I have always thought that Chuo-ku should be confident and proud as a base of Japanese urban culture that should be comparable to international cities around the world. I think there is actually much content and ability. In other words, I want to be a good rival with central towns such as London, Paris and New York.

The flag of Japan jpg French flag. jpg

Above all, Paris City has a sister city tie-up with Tokyo in 1982 (Showa 57), and the country celebrated the 150th anniversary of Japan-France exchange three years ago. The ultimate goal is the connection between the Sumida River-Seine Friendship River, which was partnered in 1989 (Heisei).

201109 Seine Friendship Memorial_R.JPG

In a corner of Tsukuda Park, there is a wooden sign indicating the "Sumida River / Seine Friendship River Memorial Tree Planting".

In addition, there is [Paris Square] in Ishikawajima Park, which is a spot where you can feel international goodwill.

At this time, the French president Jack Sirak at that time was donated to the [Messenger Statue] standing in the central part of Chuo-ohashi Bridge.
I was impressed by the appearance of watching the flow of the Sumida River

201109 Tsukuda Park_R.JPG

P1030179_R.JPG

Seine is also a "signboard actor" who supports Paris, the world's best international tourist city.

Through the center of Paris and Tokyo, I would like to touch on the charm while comparing the views of these two friendly rivers, which are familiar to both residents and tourists. I hope you can get along with me.
