Koami Shrine Doburoku Festival

[North Yujin] Nov. 30, 2010 09:30

On the 29th, the Doburoku Festival was held at Koami Shrine on the banks of the former Higashiboriru River.

The so-called festival was named after serving worshipers on November 28 (a muddy sake made from fresh rice harvested in the Shinryo field) served in Niiname-no-Matsuri.

Kyoden Santo "Ginza-like character", opened in Ginza 1-chome

[Yotaro] Nov. 29, 2010 08:36

IMG_0369.JPG "Edo Kyobashi Ginza 1-chome. If you go up, you'll be on the left. If you go down, you'll be right. The front is Kyoden Santo, who planted bamboo on a wooden fence and turned hermit. If you put it inside, you will find a store. In Kyoya Denzokata ... (Kyozan Santo "Tobacco Nisho")

Kyoden Santo, a leading figure in Edo drama, was a resident of Ginza 1-chome from the age of 13 to 56 years old, but in the fall of 1793 (1793), at the age of 33, Kyobashi Ginza 1-chome We rent a house near Kido on the east side bridge and open a 9-shaku Oku Nima store. Ukiyo-e artist Masanobu Kitao has a new design of Kyoden's own design, which is highly regarded as a ukiyo-e artist. In 1795, the same Ginza 1-chome and the father Denzaemon bought a house of a doctor who served as the landlord and relocated, making it a large store with a frontage Mima. Was.

Kyoden advertises the store in the drama, Utamaro draws the storefront of the Kyoden store in a large format Nishiki-e, and Makoto, which was drawn to Kyoden, is also in the work, `` At this time, there are no people who do not have smoke pipes and tobacco containers at the Kyoden store There are no women who hate Satsuma potatoes and arasu eggplants. " His own tag (flyer) also gained a reputation, and some were tailor-made. (The story is a picture of a child carried by a fox, "Kokin", and an old monk turns upside down and reads "Soro". In the Meiji era, Rohan Kouda wrote a decipherment sentence "Advertisement of Kyoden". ) At the time of opening, the products handled as the prosperity were only paper tobacco containers at the time of opening, but the number of toothpicks, smoke tubes, nose paper bags, medicine such as reading circles and kiomaru, cosmetics such as white peony, etc. According to the number of "Guide to One", cosmetics, booths, and medicine "Kyohashi Kyodenso" is listed in front of cosmetics.

IMG_0373.JPG He has already established himself as a great writer with yellow covers and stylish books, and in the reform of Kansei, he suffered a brushstroke (50 days of the hand chain), but he created a solid and solid family business, based on it. I will play my skills in the field of reading books, comic books and evidence. When it comes to multi-artists, it is often easy to imagine a strange person type, but Kyoden seems to have been a perfect person and a tsujin in terms of personality.

Utaro Noda, a pioneer of literary walks, described Kyoden as a "Ginza-like person" and wrote this.

"I think Kyoden Santo, who was a smart person of the Edo era, drew dramas and ukiyo-e, and had a Direttant-like culture, and was also a business talent, I think that I am a Ginza-like person."

◆Chuo-ku There is a history here <26> ~ Peace pagoda of the catastrophe of the collapse of Eitai Bridge~

[Akira Makibuchi / Sharakusai] Nov. 25, 2010 08:30

The Eitai Bridge is now designated as a national important cultural property. It is well known that it collapsed about 200 years ago. On August 19, 1807, the festival of Fukagawa Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine was held for the first time in 11 years. It collapsed when people crowded with the festival were crossing the Eitai Bridge. It is said that at that time, he had a lot of pain in Kibashi. It is said that the number of victims reached about 500 and 1,500, and the exact number of victims is unknown. Shusanjin (Nanpo Ota) wrote this catastrophe in Kyoka, saying, "The bridge over the eternal era will fall down, and today the festival tomorrow will be a funeral." It was also performed in the rakugo "Eitai Bridge".

The temple isFukagawa, Koutou-kuIt was relocated to its current location in 1910 (1910). The Peace pagoda and the stone monument were designated as Tangible Cultural Property in Tokyo in 1991, and an explanation board is installed (left photo).

According to this, "The catastrophe has occurred since the beginning of Edo" "It was erected on the grounds of Kaifukuji Temple at the time of the centennial, 50th, 77th, and 91th anniversary of the drowning." It is the only document in Tokyo that can clarify how Edo citizens perceived the unprecedented catastrophe, which was said to be 4440 people, and passed on to future generations. "

Peace pagoda's pedestal is quite old, and the engravings on it are quite polished and difficult to read, but the names of the victims can be read slightly by engraving Kyobashi and Hatchobori. The Fukagawa Hachiman Festival, which is held every three years, is still held today.Chuo-kuShinkawa and Hakozaki towns on the side are shrine parishioner, boasting a wide range of corporate areas across the Sumida River. It is a valuable historical site that shows that the bearers and spectators gathered from the west side of the Sumida River at that time.

Doll floats in Nihonbashi-Tochigi Autumn Festival

[O umbrella] Nov. 22, 2010 12:49

A gorgeous cruise of more than a dozen doll floats, including the floats of the Shizuka Gozen, which had attended the Sanno Festival during the Edo period.Tochigi-shiIt was held at the center of "Kura no Machi Odori". It's Tochigi Autumn Festival.

IMG_7267comp.JPGThe festival is said to be held every other year, but this year (2010) is the year of the event, and it was held for two days on Saturday, November 13 and 14 (Sun).

As a supporter of the guide, I will also participate in the event of "Good Tochigi float festival watching".

On the first day (November 13), I saw a tour of doll floats [Reference 1] such as "Shizuka Gozen" owned by the town of Nihonbashi.

Take the limited express at 10:30 at Tobu Asakusa Station and arrive at Tochigi Station in about 1 hour and 10 minutes.

The festival started at 14:30, so we had a walk around the city until then.

[Introduction of the city]

IMG_7217comp.JPG IMG_7200comp.JPGIn the city, there are old warehouses (Tozo) everywhere, and you can see many dashigeta-style houses. It seems to have returned in the days of the Meiji and Taisho eras.

Many of these are designated as cultural properties of Tangible Cultural Property and prefecture registered by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.

IMG_7171comp.JPGAt the center of the city is the Uzuma River, a clear stream with a calm flow.

The guests who came to the festival were placed on a river boat, and the boatman was manipulating the pole while showing stories about the land folk song and warehouses.

Algae fluttering on the riverbed, and many carps are swimming. When you look at it, you can feel the flow of relaxing time.

Tochigi-shiPlease refer to [Reference 2] for the history of the city.

[Tochigi Autumn Festival]

IMG_7262tcolcomp.JPG At the opening ceremony (departure ceremony)Tochigi-shiThere was a greeting from Mayor Toshimi Suzuki.

"This autumn festival was a new life that merged three neighboring towns in March to nearly double the population of 140,000.Tochigi-shiIt was very significant at the first Tochigi Autumn Festival.

It is also called Koedo.Kawagoe-shiOldSawara-shiYeahChuo-kuSumida-kuI have a wide range of relationships.

There were greetings like this.

Mr. Katori City as a guestKasukabe-shiAnd so on.

Deputy mayor from Chuo-kuChuo-kuHiroshi Suzuki, Director of Culture and Lifelong Learning Division, was introduced.

As a large number of spectators sing along the sidewalks on both sides, a gorgeous doll float cruise began.

IMG_7221coltcomp.JPG On the floats of the "Shizuka Gozen" I wanted, there was a tag of "Moto Edo Sanno Festival 9th float" [Reference 3] next to the drum seats.

Looking at the appearance of a large number of floats cruising, I feel like I saw the Sanno Festival in the Edo period.

There is a picture of "Kojimachi 1-chome Sanno Festival Nerigome" in Hiroshige Utagawa's "Hundred Famous Views of Edo", with floats.

It depicts how Hanzomon to Edo Castle through the Sakurada moat.

Looking at this Tochigi Autumn Festival, I couldn't help but wonder how gorgeous and magnificent the procession of 45 7m-high doll floats used at the Tenka Festival at that time was.

And I was happy and deeply moved to see the floats of "Shizuka Gozen" owned by Nihonbashi.

"Koedo" with interaction with Chuo-kuTochigi-shiWhy don't you visit us once?

[Reference 1] Floats in Tochigi

IMG_7230colcomp.JPG The floats of "Shizuka Gozen" (Note), which went to the "Tochigi Autumn Festival" during the Edo period Tenka Festival "Sanno Festival", were owned by the town of Nihonbashi, and were purchased by Yamato-cho 3-chome in Tochigi in the early Meiji era.

(Note) Shizuka Gozen: Minamoto no Yoshitsune's darling is the white beat of Kyoto (a prostitute who performs singing and dancing from the Heian period to the Kamakura period). Captured by Yoritomo, on the stage of Kamakura's Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, he dropped a sword to Tachi Eboshi, and said, "Shizuyashizu, Shizu, repeated, and once again, I'm going to do it now. "

Shizuka Gozen dolls are said to have been created by Shounsai Tokuyama in the first year of Kaei (1848), and are the oldest floats in Tochigi.

In addition, there are floats of "Liu Pei", "Kanba", and "Zhanghi" (Chohi) of Mikunishi, which are for the celebration of the prefecture in 1893 (Meiji 26) It seems to have been produced by requesting the puppeteer "Third Generation Gesshu Hara" in Nihonbashi Motoishi-cho.

IMG_7285colcomp.JPG And "Amaterasu Omikami" (Amaterasu Omikami), "Yamato Takeru" (the only thing to beat Yamato)

There are also floats of Susano Naruson, Emperor Jimmu, Taiko Hideyoshi, and Momotaro. It is a tangible folk cultural property designated by the prefecture, along with Shizuka Gozen and Mikuni Shi.

The photo on the left shows the floats of Amaterasu Omikami.

In addition, there are floats such as "Isakodori", "Benkei", and "Emperor Nintoku", which are registered in the city designated Tangible Cultural Property.

These floats are not owned by prefectures and cities, but are owned and maintained by each town council.

Tochigi floats are called "Edo-shaped doll floats", and the curtains covering the floats are gold and silver threads, and each float has a gorgeous and gorgeous embroidery unique to each float. And a float with a height of about 7m has a double structure that can be raised and lowered to pass through the gate of Edo Castle.

You can always see real floats and images of the Tochigi Autumn Festival at the Tochigi Float Hall on the main street.

Tochigi City is in Saitama PrefectureKawagoe-shiAnd former Chiba PrefectureSawara-shi(currently Katori City) is called "Koedo".

Shimonokuni during the Edo period was divided into Tochigi Prefecture and Utsunomiya Prefecture in the abolished feudal prefecture of Meiji 4 (1871), but in 1873, two prefectures merged to Tochigi Prefecture, This isTochigi-shiIt is said that the prefectural office was set up and flourished as a political, economic and cultural center.

Then, in 1884, the prefectural office was established.Utsunomiya-shiThe name of the prefecture remained as Tochigi Prefecture.

The name of the prefectural office is left in "Prefectural Office Hori".

IMG_7159tcomp.JPG In the Edo period, Nikko Toshogu Shrine, which enshrines Ieyasu, and in the Edo period, the Imperial Court visited the Imperial Court every year, and Tochigi developed as a post town on the Reiheishi Kaido (Tochigi-juku: 13th).

It is said that Tochigi merchants flourished during the late Tokugawa shogunate period by transporting goods between Edo using the Uzuma River.

Tochigi's "Kura" still has many storehouses, but there are also Ishikura and Itakura. In addition to the warehouse, there is a store called "Misezo" (Misegura, store storehouse). It seems that there is Japan's oldest misezo in Tochigi.

IMG_7305coltcomp.JPG Tochigi interacted with the ukiyo-e artist Utamaro Kitagawa during the Edo period, and recently discovered three pieces of "Shoki", "Sanpuku God's Sumo", and "Onna Daruma". I have a hand-painted drawing.

[Reference 3] The line of floats for the Sanno Festival in the Edo period

The Sanno Festival was called the Tenka Festival because the Shogun was allowed to see the Shogun together with Kanda festival and was able to enter Edo Castle, and the two festivals were held alternately every other year.

At that time, the procession of the Sanno Festival was led by Osakaki, followed by floats (45 units) and portable shrine (3 units) in each town. It seems that a dance stand (mobile stage) with songs such as Nagauta and Jobanzubushi also participated.

IMG_7300coltcomp.JPG The floats of the Sanno Festival range from the No. 1 Isakodori to the No. 45 Scarlet (1862), but the majority of the floats are present.Chuo-kuIt was created by the towns of Nihonbashi, Ginza, and Shinkawa districts.

The Sanno Festival is also gradually decreasing since it was subject to the thrug of the reform of the Tenpo, but the festival of Bunkyu 2 (1862) is said to be the last Tenka Festival of Shogun's Shoran.

And at the end of Meiji 22 (1889), floats were no longer brought out to the Sanno Festival.

It is said that this is due to the lack of cruising tall floats due to the laying of the overhead line of the city train, and the cost of maintenance and cruising.

And the doll floats seem to have gradually spread throughout the Kanto region.

Tsukudatendaiko Ikuchizoson and Daiginko

[Yurikamome] Nov. 21, 2010 10:17

A 3-minute walk from Tsukishima Station on the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line and Toei Oedo Line, a large ginkgo tree extends from the roof to the heavens. It's very close to Tsukuda Nami-Inari.

It is reported that Ueno Kanei-ji Temple and Sutokuin Shrine, who lived in the middle of the Edo period, worshiped the Jizo Bodhisattva deeply and drew the statue of Jizo himself and encouraged the construction of Jizo at temples in Edo Prefecture.

It's the appearance of guardian of children and travelers indoors.

2010_1118 Photo 0001 Tsukudatendaiko Ikuchizozozoson. JPG

I brought my hand to the main god and took a picture.

It's Jizo Bodhisattva.

2010_1118 Photo 0097 Tsukudatendaiko Ikuchizozozoson. JPG

There is a ginkgo tree trunk in the back, and in front of it, there is such a big two.

This ginkgo tree goes out over the roof and grows greatly.

It seems that there was a story about the inhabitants' tangible cultural property ..., but he declined to grow up with everyone in the local nature.

So there is no detailed information about "Ginkgo".

I looked up from the gap and took a picture.

200 years ago in Chuo-ku, the streets of Edo were spreading.

[Koedo Itabashi] Nov. 19, 2010 18:00

"What is this?"

I breathe in front of the work that connects with zuzui in front of me.

About 200 years ago. A picture scroll that shows the streets of Edo in 1805 (2nd year of culture).

It is "Heedai Shoran".

The main street from Kanda Imagawa Bridge, the center of Edo in Hana, to Nihonbashi, overlooking Fuji in the distance.

The hustle and bustle of the streets are overlapping Machiya, the noise of people coming and going.

It seems to be transmitted to the smell of life.

The detailed description of the main street spreads in a long space unique to emakimono.

This picture scroll is housed at the National Museum of Asian Art in Berlin, and displays reproductions that are 1.4 times larger than the real one.

The place is the Nihonbashi Sanzen Echizen Concourse. Right next to the ticket gate of "Mitsukoshimae Station" on the subway Ginza Line and Hanzomon Line. In terms of the ground entrance number, it is between A3 and A5.

"What is this power?"

In 1805, the general of the time was Ienari Tokugawa.

A shining scene of culture and Bunsei, which can be said to be the mature period of Edo culture.

An overwhelming flow of people. A number of long-established stores that remain today.

You are drawn into the expressions and gestures of the people who are drawn.

I feel like I'm walking in the gorgeousness of the town of Edo.

Animals include dogs, cats, horses, cows, one monkey and two hawks.

Why don't you look for a monkey and a hawk as a clue to see the picture scroll?

We will return to the ground and look at the streets 200 years from now.

From Nihonbashi, walk along Chuo-dori toward JR Kanda Station.

Imagawa Bridge does not exist at present because the former Ryukan River has been reclaimed.

Instead, "Imagawa Bridge Origin" is set up in front of HONMA GOLF.

From here, let's look back on the Nihonbashi area.

What kind of impression does the scenery of the town appear in the eyes walking in the picture scroll?
