On December 3rd (Sun), Oedo wholesaler festival! A treasure hunt in Bakurocho, a hot spot

[Shiba Inu] Nov. 28, 2017 14:00

From 9:00 am on Sunday, December 3rd, the annual "Oedo wholesaler festival" will be held!

12.jpg

This festival is held twice a year, and this is the 26th time. Bakurocho, the eastern end of the Nihonbashi district, is a wholesale district that continues from Edo. Normally, the general public does not enter the store, but anyone can shop only on the day of the wholesaler festival! You can enjoy shopping at a surprising wholesale price.

Every time, there are fun events such as brass band and samba, and of course there are also delicious food and drink stores (some places where you can sit and rest), and it will be very busy from the morning. In particular, the winter wholesaler festival is very recommended. Because leather goods and cashmere relationships are very cheap! Gloves, stoles, bags, coats, etc. that seem to be "Oh, good" at a glance are sold at a truly surprising price. There are also women's men's items, things that can be worn easily by grandmothers, and stylish ones for young girls. There are also nice miscellaneous goods! Even if you feel like you have become a wholesaler, it is very fun to ladder this shop and shop, and people from all over the country gather.

Bakurocho, the stage, is actually an area that is currently attracting attention. It has Nihonbashi in the west and Sumida River in the east, and many historical sites remain. In recent years, there has been an increasing number of high-sense cafes, restaurants, galleries, interior and fashion shops. It can be often visited on TV programs around the city (unfortunately, there are many shops closed on Sunday, so if you are looking for it, please check the opening time!) 。

The venue for the wholesaler festival is not just on the website. Detailed maps will be distributed locally, but shops are waiting in a wide range of places. There is also a wonderful shop for people outside the street, so please consult with your physical strength and visit your favorite "Wholesale Street". The mannequins of each store also have their own personality, so be sure to check them out!

The nearest stations are Toei Shinjuku Line "Bakuro-Yokoyama Station", Toei Asakusa Line "Higashibashi Station", JR Sobu Line Rapid "Bakurocho Station", Tokyo Bus East 42 "Asakusabashi" (Be careful because it is a bus stop next to "Asakusabashi Station"!) 。 It is about a 5-minute walk from Asakusabashi Station on the JR Sobu Line and Kodemmacho Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line.

For more information, please visit our website. → Oedo wholesaler festival

It's easy to think sober, but I think it's a very interesting and fun event for Chuo-ku finger folding, so please come and visit us. I'm waiting for you!

Walking through the streets that appear in rakugo (2)

[Dharma] Nov. 26, 2017 09:00

Bakurocho is said to have been booming as the best inn town in Edo.

At the time of Kokumachi. jpg

Starting from Nihonbashi, stroll through the streets of Muromachi, go out to Edo-dori St., where the Sobu Line runs, and head to the bell tower of "Kokumachi Time Bell".

Heading to Asakusabashi while thinking about the fox of Rakugo [Rokuro neck] bell tower.

A 30-minute walk from Nihonbashi, it's like a fashion town in Bakurocho.

Here is the Baba of Hatsune, and at the foot of Asakusabashi, "Gyodai Yashiki Ruins" and "Hatsune Mori Shrine". From Asakusabashi, pass through Kuramae to Asakusa, and "Ryogoku Hirokoji" and "Ryogokubashi" are also nearby.

To this Bakurocho, go to the county government office or go to the box office! Worship! Playground! Shopping! It seems that it was a convenient place to stay. In the story of rakugo, many characters come and go in Bakurocho. Below is an overview of the three famous rakugo seats.

In Rakugo "Dream of Edo". He did not say the lower son of Shoya in Shizuoka Maruko-juku, rattan seven, but he was dignified and became the son-in-law of his daughter. My parents plan to visit Edo. [Bakurocho no Yado] I got into it. My son-in-law says, "I want you to stop by Naraya in a row of trees in Asakusa to assess the quality of the tea you have grown." I met Naraya Munemi, "I was a good man, but I had bad liquor habits and put my hands on others and went far away." Please tell your son-in-law. "..."That person was Fujishichi's parent," "Mr. Uji cannot compete." ・... It is a story that Kabuki writer Nobuo Uno made rakugo for the sixth generation Ensho.

Classical rakugo is good! "Sest, culture, humanity, living" of the Edo period, etc. ... imagination spreads.

In Rakugo "Bunshichi Genyu". Go to Azuma-bashi Bridge in Okawa, with 50 cars made by her plasterer Chobei and daughter Oku, who lived in Honjo Daruma Yokocho, sinking into Yoshiwara. "Get your hands off the balustrade!" I'm a hand for [Tortoiseshell wholesaler in Yokoyamacho]. "Wait! Wait! Don't jump in!...Fifty cars are here, so take them!" ... Hisa was contracted by the wholesaler's owner and married with Bunshichi. It is said that the original ending that Bunshichi appeared to have been played until later. ・・ ・ ・ It is a masterpiece of a human story with the creative rakugo of Encho.

In the rakugo story "Gojin Shutokuri", Zenroku, the head of work at [Bagocho 1-chome large store, Hatago] succeeded in fortune-telling Soloban. In the first time, Zenroku decided to find the sacred sake Tokuri, a heirloom that he had forgotten, and paid his key money. ・・ ・ ・ In the third time, when it was difficult, he continued to remove water with the help of God. He cured the illness of Osaka Konoike's daughter, and had him give money and built a wonderful Hatagoya in Bakurocho. With Soloban fortune-telling, my life has improved by order! That's right. (Laughing) ... It's a story from Osaka.

It's over!

Ningyocho Night Walk

[Shitamachi Tom] Nov. 24, 2017 12:00

This time, I would like to introduce the charm of Ningyocho.

As you know, this neighborhood has prospered as one of the best downtown areas in Edo Prefecture since the early Edo period. puppet ballad drama and kabuki huts and vaudeville were lined up to make the hustle and bustle.

Ningyocho_20171117(1)_R.jpg

In addition, it was a lively town as Hanayanagi Street, and it was a town where string research was never stopped. With modernization, its features have been almost lost, but you can still feel the remaining incense in some places.

The night walk is exceptional to taste the atmosphere of Ningyocho.

Starting from [Suitengu] where the figures were extinct, I walked with a close acquaintance.
I walk around while being interested in the lights of a small restaurant in the alley and the fragrance drifting from somewhere.

[Kashima Shoten], where you can enjoy rare sake (Kakuuchi) now, is a valuable thing. It's crowded with many regular customers tonight.

This area is dotted with the shrines of Nihonbashi Seven Lucky Gods, but the atmosphere that illuminates small lamps at night is also quite good. As you go around [Matsushima Shrine] with the third rooster ahead and [Suehiro Shrine] of Motoyoshihara Sogo, your feelings gradually increase.

After getting acquainted with the tasteful Japanese food culture in the alley where the atmosphere of Kayamachi remains, it is a time to spare the remnants in a stylish bar.

Please enjoy an adult walk in the neighborhood of Ningyocho.

Cedar balls with a blush

[Asunaro] Nov. 22, 2017 09:00

During this season, hanging cedar balls were hung at the eaves of the sake brewery.

I see it being replaced with a new one.

 Cedar ball. jpg

It's a tradition that tells young sake's beginning of squeezing.

Sugitama 2.jpg

Its origin is at a shrine in Nara, which celebrates the god of sake during the Edo period.

We gathered at "Sakaei-ko", a sake festival held every winter.

Mrs. Toji and others brought back the cedar of the shrine as a talisman.

It's easy to start hanging on the eaves.

◆Chuo-ku There is a history here (67) Fire hydrants on Bank of Japan Street

[Akira Makibuchi / Sharakusai] Nov. 21, 2017 09:00

Two fire hydrants remain on Bank of Japan Street, sandwiched between the head office of the Bank of Japan and Mitsui Main Building. It is a "eramono" that is rarely seen now, and you can feel nostalgia along with the quaint building of the Bank of Japan.

The fire hydrant on the left says "fire prevention water supply", and is the badge of the police?

On the right, it says "cannot be used."

At the same time, as a fire extinguishing equipment, there was such a fire extinguishing tank in different locations.

Located at the site of Hakozaki Bridge near the entrance to Hakozaki on the Mukojima Line No. 6, there is a display of "Fire extinguishing tank Chuo-ku". Recently, there is a mania called Manholer who collects manhole photos. @ Akira Makibuchi
