"Hana Kaido" Chuo-dori

[O umbrella] May 14, 2011 16:17

"Hana Kaido" on Chuo-dori, which is colored with seasonal flowers. I think there are many people who know it.

Hana Street Road Map. jpgFrom Kyobashi to Nihonbashi and Muromachi, flower beds continue casually near the sidewalk.

Thumbnail image of IMG_9883compcol.JPGThis spring, colorful pansies entertain the eyes of those who come and go and relax their hearts.

"Hana Kaido" started in December 2002 as a one-year social experiment commemorating the 400th anniversary of the opening of Edo, and began in December 2002.

After that, with the support of the “Nihonbashi Preservation Society” and “Nihonbashi Regional Renaissance 100-Year Planning Committee”, the “Nihonbashi Regional Renaissance 100-Year Planning Committee”.

Co-hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Tokyo National Highway Office, the NPO "Hana Kaido" is a water magistrate (watering flower beds and cleaning sidewalks by volunteers of town council members along the local road) and a flower magistrate (four times a year, seasonal flowers) It is implemented with the cooperation of people, companies and organizations that provide the cost of blooming, and town associations, shopping associations, and regional revitalization organizations.

Tokiwa Elementary School children also played a role in beautification of Chuo-dori through flower bed planting experience as a local volunteer. Until last year, Chuo-dori was colored with red common sage in summer and French gold flowers in autumn.

IMG_9338compcol.JPG If you look closely at the flowerbed, there are small panels with the names of the companies and organizations that have become flower magistrates and water magistrates, and the town council to which the flowerbed belongs.

On the panel, there is another kanji idiom of "twenty-four season old calendar" such as spring, spring equinox, autumn equinox, summer solstice, and "72 weather" that informs seasonal weather movements and changes in flora and fauna. It is written, and its reading and meaning are written, which is very helpful as a idiom for the season.

I was able to see people from the Edo period living while accepting nature while feeling the season, and stopped and read it unintentionally. If you know this, you may think that it's a good thing.

Let's take a closer look at the "Hana Kaido" on Chuo-dori, while enjoying the flowers. There may be a new discovery.

The Magnolia kobus of "Edo-dori St." is in full bloom!

[O umbrella] April 7, 2011 09:00

This year, the white flowers of the row of Magnolia kobus trees on "Edo-dori St." are in full bloom.

IMG_8967tcomp.JPGThe photo shows the Magnolia kobus of Edo-dori St. near Muromachi 3-chome intersection.

IMG_8963tcomp.JPGMagnolia kobus is written in kanji as "Magnolia kobus" and another name is "Tauchi Sakura".

In early spring, white flowers bloom on the branches ahead of other trees.

This year, it was cold from March to early April, so flowering was delayed, and it is now in full bloom.

Please take a look. It's amazing!

IMG_8968colcomp.JPG

It seems that the flower buds of Magnolia kobus are effective for rhinitis and nasal congestion, and the name of the herbal medicine is "Magnolia kobus". Flowers can also be used as raw material for perfume.

IMG_8969comp.JPG

I remembered the "Spring of the Northern Country" sung by Masao Chi (the spring of the northern country of the northern country where the white birch blue sky south wind fist blooms ...).

Even in Tohoku, which was severely damaged by the earthquake, it will soon be in full bloom.

Do your best in Tohoku! !

IMG_8518tcomp.JPGIn the area of Chuo-dori, festivals are already being prepared for the Japanese lantern and traffic regulations signs.

IMG_8509ccomp.JPGIn Japanese lantern, the characters "Edo Furumachi" and "Holiday / Nihonbashi Bridge 100th Anniversary" are ...

The Edo Furumachi Festival is held at the Edo Furumachi Festival.
・"Edo Furumachi bustling food stalls"
・"Edo's palanquin ride"
・"Edo Furumachi Famous Store Rally"
・"Edo Furumachi Ladder Sake Tournament"
Events such as this are available.

Sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Shopping District Promotion Association / Edo Furumachi Festival Executive Committee, sponsored by Chuo-ku and Chiyoda-ku, and by the tourist associations and shopping districts of each ward.

The Kanda / Nihonbashi / Kyobashi area is an old town in the early Edo period that was built before the Kanei era (1624-1644) in Edo, and this area is collectively referred to as "Edo Furumachi".

When Edo Furumachi became the source of developing Edo into the world's best city, for more than 400 years, the "Edo Furumachi Festival" aims to revitalize shopping streets in the modern Kanda and Nihonbashi areas.

At first glance, what kind of festival is it? Why don't you carry your feet and participate in the event?

Phantom Beer-Kabuto Beer-

[O umbrella] February 25, 2011 17:00

I saw a picture. This is an old photo of Kyobashi.

May 7, 1919 (1919) Two "Hokusaimon gates" installed at the bridge of Kyobashi to celebrate the adult ceremony (Note 1) of Emperor Showa, who was the Imperial Highness of Higashimiya (the Crown Prince), are high. I am.

IMG_8350tcomp.JPGKyobashi-dori, where the streetcar passes, can be seen as a lively street where rickshaws and carts come and go in the past. In the last four years, buildings and houses were destroyed in the Great Kanto Earthquake.

Well, take a closer look at the pictures. There is a sign saying "Kabuto Beer" on top of the building.

I don't see kabuto beer now, but it seems to have been famous at that time. That's why I've studied a little bit about beetle, so I'll introduce you.

The origin of beer
Handa Red Brick Building (formerly Kabuto Beer Factory).jpg"Kabuto Beer" was born in Handa City, Chita Peninsula, Aichi Prefecture.

Even today, about two-thirds of the red brick buildings (Note 2) of the beer factory still remain, making it a tourist spot.

It is a factory that manufactured "Kabuto Beer" from the Meiji era to the end of the Pacific War and sent it out nationwide.

In September of last year (2010), the inside of the red brick building was opened to the public.

Chita Peninsula has been flourishing in the brewing industry since ancient times, and the vinegar Mizkan (Headquarters in Handa City, Aichi Prefecture), fermented sake such as sake, miso, and tamari and other seasonings have been nurtured.

Handa Kabuto Beer Factory t.jpg"Kabuto Beer" was launched by Marusan Beer Co., Ltd. in 1899.

Poster t.jpgWe boldly challenged the four major manufacturers in the cities of Asahi (Osaka), Sapporo (Sapporo), Kirin (Yokohama), and Ebisu (Tokyo) from a local city called Handa.

He was awarded a gold medal at the Paris Expo in 1900 (1900).

Kabuto Beer, which competes with a major manufacturer, has developed elaborate advertising. In the early 20th century, it became the fifth largest market share in Japan.

Later, beer production in the red brick building was discontinued in 1943 and used as a clothing warehouse for Nakajima Aircraft Works during World War II. And even after the end of the war, there was no production of beetle.

Reprint of beer

IMG_8461tcomp.JPGOn June 4, 2005, a limited number of 3,000 bottles of Kabuto Beer from the Meiji and Taisho eras were reprinted by the Red Brick Club of Handa in Chita Peninsula.

The reprinted Kabuto Beer is said to have the characteristic of Meiji beer, "reddish brown, strong taste and strong hops, aged 3 months, and stronger alcohol content." It is said that the bottle was similar to that time.

There is only one restaurant in Tokyo, but you can drink a reprinted beer.

This is the shop name "Huntoko" Cafe in Shintomicho, Chuo-ku. The name of the store "Huntoko" is taken from the Chita Peninsula, Aichi Prefecture, where the beer factory was located.

http://blog.hantoco.jp/

By all means, enjoy the phantom beer once!

In addition, there are various theories about the origin of the name of Kabuto Beer, such as the theory that "Kaburu", which drinks beer vigorously with the throat, has been lost, and the use of a brave "Kabuto" trademark to enhance the spirit of the Sino-Japanese War.

(Note 1) The adult ceremony is a variety of rituals performed to socially recognize a person who has reached a certain age as a full-fledged person from a child, and was generally performed between the ages of 15 and 18.
In the aristocratic society, it is called Kakan or Genpaku, etc. In the tribal society, Eboshigi, among farmers, men celebrate the name change, and in the case of women, with iron plasma. It is said that it was called celebration, humor celebration, etc.

(Note 2) The red brick beer factory was designed by Yorinaka Tsumaki, who designed Nihonbashi. The building was registered with the national registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2004. It is said that the number of bricks is the fourth in Japan after Tokyo Station, Hokkaido Government, and Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse. In addition, the bricks on the wall have traces of P51 machine gun shooting during World War II.

◎Correspondents Visit to Shopping Street (12th) Together with Ryogokubashi and Yagenbori Fudoin / Higashinihombashi Yagenbori Shopping Association

[O umbrella] 10:30 on December 7, 2010

The center of commerce Chuo-ku There are many lively shopping streets in Japan.

Correspondents visit, see, and hear the shopping streets that are loved by the locals, prospered with the residents, and familiar to them. It conveys the lively charm and vitality, special information, etc. Chuo-ku This is the 12th "correspondent's Shopping Street Visit" that introduces the shopping associations and shopping streets.

*******************************************************

◎Correspondent Visit to Shopping Street (12th)◎

Together with Ryogokubashi and Yagenbori Fudoin / Higashinihombashi Yagenbori Shopping Association

We spoke with Kazuo Ozaki, the owner of Nihonbashi Kibundo and chairman of the store association.

First of all, about the area of the store association

Higashinihombashi Yagenbori Shotenkai is said to be a gathering of retail stores such as wholesalers and wholesalers of "Higashibashi 2-chome" where Yagenbori Fudoin is located.Chuo-kuIt's located at the northeast end of the house.

IMG_7401coltcomp.JPG
On the east side of the city is the Sumida River and Ryogoku Bridge, and on the northern Kanda River, there are Yanagibashi and Asakusabashi at the exit of the Sumida River.

IMG_7716coltcomp.JPGThere is a characteristic point of access to Yagenbori Fudoin. That's a rare six-way street. This is the point where Fudoin-dori, Yanagibashi-dori, and Naka-dori, where Fudoin is located, intersect.

There is a gas station at the intersection, so it seems easy to understand if you go there.

②I heard about the historical story of the city. He talked while looking at the map of the Edo period on the shop.

In this area, Hashizume, on this side of Ryogoku Bridge, Ryogoku Hirokoji was built as a fire protection area for the great fire of Edo, and it was one of the best places in Edo, which was crowded with playhouses, tea mise, and stalls. It seems that it was.

Also, on both sides of Yanagibashi on the Kanda River, there were famous restaurants since the Edo period.

Until the first half of the Showa era, geishas often came to this area for shopping with their husbands who came to a restaurant in Yanagibashi, and many black-painted cars came.

In the fireworks festival of Ryogoku Bridge, a pier was set up in Sumida river’s edge near this area, and river boats were lined up tightly, attracting a large number of spectators.

Recently, convenience stores and izakaya chain stores have entered the shopping district, and it seems that the number of retail stores has decreased due to the declining population due to the construction of buildings and the sluggishness of wholesale districts, but there are also shops that continue to follow the traditional tradition There is.

③I asked you about the shops of the store association.

It seems that there is a shop in Higashi Nihonbashi 2-chome that has continued since the Edo period and the early Meiji period.

Okiya "Seven-colored pepper" t.jpg IMG_7431coltcomp.JPGIt is said that the "Oki Tang Karashi store" of seven colors red pepper was founded in the middle of the Edo period, and Chairman Ozaki said that it was the oldest in this area.

IMG_7718coltcomp.JPG"Horitsu Chapo" was founded in 1717 and is also old here.

It is a long-established Japanese tea specialty store that has been set up on the present Higashinihombashi "Suzuran Street" for 90 years.

"Littlemermaid" is located at the intersection of a six-way street, but it seems that his predecessor was a bakery founded in Meiji period, and was famous for Milk Hall.

IMG_7762tcolcomp.JPGToriyasu, a duck dish in front of Nihonbashi Junior High School, is a long-established store founded in 1872.

The duck restaurant "Ahigamo Sukiyaki Course" is one of the famous long-established stores that has been serving only one dish for nearly 140 years.

IMG_7473coltcomp.JPG"Nihonbashi Kibundo", run by Chairman Ozaki, is famous for baked goods such as doll ware and rice crackers.

Mr. Ozaki, the owner, says, "We are a new person in history." However, it seems that it has been about 70 years since it was founded in the beginning of Showa.

These old shops are decorated with old photographs of this town where the old Ryogokubashi and Yagenbori Fudoin are located, and if you go to the shop, you will definitely see it.

IMG_7758coltcomp.JPGMr. Ozaki made a handwritten map of the Yagenbori Town Association in the early Taisho era, and a large picture of Sajiki , which was crowded with customers on the banks of the Sumida River during fireworks festival in both countries.

(Thank you for showing valuable maps and photos.)

IMG_7725coltcomp.JPG
There is a drug shop "Tamaki" in this shopping street. In Tamaki-san's building, there was a signboard of the famous women's drug "Nakashoyu" sold at Tsumura Juntendo.

IMG_7415tcomp.JPG

In the Edo era, there were many doctors in this Yakken drilling, and during the Tenpo era, a Dutch medical school "Wada Juku" was established, making it the birthplace of Juntendo University.

Next, we asked about the events in this area.

The Higashinihombashi and Genbori Shotenkai have various events, but they are said to be held around the 28th of every month, which is the fair of Yagenbori Fudoin.

Famous at the event are "Yagenbori Mobile Shopping Street" and "Yagenbori no Toshinoichi". IMG_7770coltcomp.JPGThis year's "12th Yagenbori Moving Shopping Street" was held on Friday, October 29 and 30 (Sat).

(Miss Chuo) Yagenbori Shopping Street. JPGEvents and wagon sales in front of Yagenbori Fudoin were held.Chuo-kuTourist ambassadors, Miss Chuo, are also coming to support us.

It is said that "Yagenbori no Toshinoichi" will be held 42 times, but it will be held for three days from December 27 (Mon) to 30 (Wed).

IMG_4804coltcomp.JPGIn December, Toshinoichi in Tokyo, which sells New Year's goods, began visiting Fukagawa Hachiman in December and visiting Asakusa Kannon, Kanda Myojin, Yushima Tenjin, etc.

Finally, it is paid at "Yagenbori Fudoin's Toshinoichi", so it is called "Yagenbori no Toshinoichi".

In the past, Hagoita used to go around, but recently it has disappeared.

It seems that the New Year's goods market was also called the so-called "gasa city", and "Yagenbori no Toshiichi" was opened around 1975, with 200 stores opening and overflowing until Kiyosugi-dori.

IMG_4805tcolcomp.JPGRecently, it seems that there is an "Odekoichi" that sells clothing and other items at a disqualified value by asking wholesalers for cooperation. .

IMG_7730coltcomp.JPGThe Yagenbori district is also the birthplace of the talk, and every month, the Yagenbori fair talk meeting is held at Fudoin Hondo Hall on the 28th of Fudoin fair. I'd like to say it once.

⑤ Finally, we asked about the revitalization of the store association in the future.

As the first step in the revitalization plan, we regard the six-way road near Yagenbori Fudoin as a landmark of this store association.

It seems that only the road at the intersection is planned to color "Edo-purple".

(The design drawings and image drawings created by the contractor were brought from home and explained.)

It seems to be a collaboration with the Tokyo Sky Tree's night lighting color "Edo-purple". It seems to also play a role in accessing Yakken Domoin.

In addition, on the nearby sidewalk, there are many pillars with golden upper part similar to the pillars of Daimon in the Edo period, and it seems to produce the gorgeousness of the Edo style .

It seems that the goal is to be completed in September next year (2011), or a new landmark will be created and will play a role in the evolution and revitalization of the region.

[Report]

It was like a standing story at the sales floor, but Chairman Ozaki saw Edokko, a religious festival lover.

During the interview, I heard a conversation with a familiar customer who seemed to be shopping at the shop and a person who came to the shop for consultation at the town council or a ceremonial occasion, and it was very reliable I felt that it was a fun being.

I believe that we will be able to demonstrate our strength in revitalizing the Higashinihombashi Yagenbori Store Association.

IMG_7755tcolcomp.JPGDuring the interview, a grandmother in the neighborhood who came to buy puppet ware with a small grandchild ... I felt the connection of residents of the good old days.

(In the photo, the person who responds to customers is Chairman Ozaki.)

I bought Kibundo's Seven Lucky Gods doll grilled, chestnut wapples and others. It was not so sweet with crushed bean paste (an), white bean paste, and koshi bean paste, and the wrapped skin was firm and delicious.

Thank you for responding to this time when you are busy preparing for the end of the “Delivery Year's Market”.

Yagenbori: In 1645, the Tokugawa Shogunate's Yonekura `` Yanokura '' with a large moat was created, but it was burned down by the fire in 1698, a part of the moat remained, the bottom was V-shaped and shallow, and the shape of `` Yaken '' It is said that it became the place name of "Yagenbori" because it resembled.

Where the moat went out to the Sumida River, "Moto Yanagibashi" was built. Since "Yanagibashi" was created in the Kanda River, it seems that "origin" came to be called.

Yagenbori Fudoin: In 1585, the Daiin monk capital of Kishu Negoro-ji Temple descended to the eastern country with a statue to avoid the fire of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and built Dou on the banks of the Sumida River. It seems that it was the beginning of Yagenbori Fudoin.

At present, it is Omotoyama Kawasakidaishi Hirama-ji Tokyo Betsuin, and has long been known as Edo San Ofudo along with Meguro and Mejiro.

"Imagawa Koji" under the guard ~ Retro Izakaya Yokocho ~

[O umbrella] December 3, 2010 11:15

Chuo-kuJR passes through the northwest end of the street with a slight blur. One of the guards is the izakaya Yokocho "Imagawa Koji" (Koji Imagawa), which has a retro atmosphere.

Map gifThere are three guards (bridges) on the JR Line, which passes through the end of Chuo-ku.

From the south side, in order

The Ryukanbashi Bridge, which passes through the large Sotobori-dori St.

"Honshiroganebashi Bridge"

And it is "Shirohata Bridge (Shirahatabashi) Bridge" with Imagawa Koji.

IMG_2220coltcomp.JPGIn Imagawa Koji, old-fashioned small izakayas line up on both sides of narrow roads where cars are difficult to pass.

As you know, there are many restaurants and izakayas under guards near JR stations such as Kanda, Yurakucho and Shimbashi, but you can see many restaurants and izakayas.

Chuo-kuThis Imagawa Koji is the only restaurant under the guard inside.

Actually, this is a shop in Imagawa Koji.

South sideIs Chuo-kuIn Honishi-cho

North sideChiyoda-kuKajicho (Kanda)

I belong to the city, and the central road is the border.

On the map above, there is "Imagawa Koji" just under the JR guard, which crosses the northern end of Nihonbashi Honishi-cho (ward border).

This road runs through Chuo-dori and Showa-dori, and extends almost straight to Hamacho (northeast) about Hatcho (town) (about 870m) in units of old distances.

In addition, this road is a road created by reclaiming a river called the Ryukan River (the name of the Edo period was "Kandabori") that connected the Nihonbashi River and Hamacho River in the Edo period. [Reference]

Until 1947, the Ryukagawa River was the Sakaigawa of Nihonbashi Ward and Kanda Ward at that time. Later, in 1950, a road created by reclaiming the Ryukan River (Ryukan Shindo) was constructed.Chuo-kuAndChiyoda-kuIt has become a border road.

IMG_7313tcolcomp.JPG   IMG_7312coltcomp.JPG   IMG_7310tcompt.JPG

The name of the JR guard near this area also uses the bridge name of the Ryukagawa River and the name of the town at that time.

IMG_5475colcomp.JPGIn Imagawa Koji under the guard of the Shirahata Bridge, there is a lot to do.

Izakayas began to line up around 1951.

At its peak, about 30 small izakayas gathered. The size of the Shirohata Bridge guard is about 10m wide and about 50m long.

I heard that the izakaya was crowded here.

Recently, due to the construction of the Tohoku Transit Line, unfortunately the store has disappeared about 20m, the eastern half of Imagawa Koji.

Still, in the western half of Imagawa Koji,Chuo-kuOn the side, there are izakayas of "Kanda", "Marise", "Sato", "Tagayasu", and "Gaadoshita".

AndChiyoda-kuThere are izakayas such as "Daimatsu" and "Ryusui" on the side, and they continue to shop in a retro atmosphere around 1955.

IMG_7319colcomptcol.JPGAmong themChuo-kuWhen you enter the izakaya "Kanda" (read as Jinta ...) located on the easternmost side of the side, there is an L-shaped counter that fills up when eight people sit, and regulars taste handmade dishes While drinking the green tea split of popular shochu, the story was blooming to my mom.

There is also a communication Karaoke, and it seems that it is sung widely from old songs to new songs. Recently, the number of young people returning to work is increasing.

In addition, this Imagawa Koji is an era setting around 1955, and is often used for filming scenes of izakaya Yokocho in the streets of the night.

The izakaya "Kanda" was decorated with photos of actors "Jinpachi Nezu", "Takehiro Murata", and mom's three shots. It seems that he stopped by when he was filming at Imagawa Koji.

Chuo-kuWhy don't you visit the only izakaya Yokocho "Imagawa Koji" under the guard and "Imagawa Koji" that conveys the retro atmosphere to the present ...Chuo-kuThere was such a place.

[Reference] Ryukan River and Bridge

It is said that the Ryukan River was dug during the Edo period (although it is said to be both the Tenna period and Genroku 4 (1691), and at that time, "Kanda moat" (also known as silver moat, Kanda Hatchobori, fire removal (hike) moat).

It is assumed that Yaji-san and Kita-san of the masterpiece "Tokaido Naka-Kurige" by Juppenshaikku lived in this Kanda Hatchobori.

This moat was reclaimed once in late Tokugawa shogunate's Ansei 4 (1857), and was dug again in Meiji 16 (1883) to name the river "Ryukangawa".

The origin of the name of the Ryukan River seems to be derived from the name of Ryukan Bridge, which was located at the exit of the Nihonbashi River during the Kandabori period, without being abandoned until the re-excavation in 1883. It is said that Ryukan's name was because Ryukan Inoue, the entertainment monk of the castle, lived nearby. IMG_7382colcomp.JPGSince the water quality of the Ryukan River gradually deteriorated and became sewage, a large sewer pipe at the bottom of the river was buried in 1950 and flowed through it, and the river was reclaimed and became a road (Ryukan Shindo). It is up to this day.

Regarding the reclamation of the Ryukan River, go east on the Ryukan Shindo from Imagawa Koji and go to Showa-dori. There is a monument describing the history of the reclamation there.

The bridge of the Ryukagawa River, according to the "Map Monogatari Nihonbashi on that day" published at Takeagedo, the Ryukagawa River around 1907 was 1 "Ryukabashi", 2 "Shirohata Bridge" (beggar bridge), 3 "Nishijinnakanobashi" (main water bridge) bridge, 3 "Nishinakanobashi" (main water bridge) bridge.

In addition, the name in parentheses is the name of the bridge in the Edo period, such as Edo Kirie (Kaei era 3, Oomiya Gohei board).

IMG_7698coltcomp.JPGAmong them, Imagawa Bridge is said to be a bridge named after the local village headman Zenemon Imagawa during the Edo period.

The first bridge from Nihonbashi to Nakasendo was Imagawa Bridge. It is depicted in "Kidai Shoran" and "Edo Famous Pictures".

It seems that there were many Setomonoya near Imagawa Bridge. (The photo above is from the Chikuma Gakugei Bunko "Shin-Kei Edo Famous Zoukai")

IMG_3484coltcomp.JPGAt present, a monument stands at the site of Imagawa Bridge. In addition, the example "Imagawa-yaki", which is also called "large-sized grill" or "rotary grill", is called "Imagawa-yaki".

It is said that while selling baked goods near this bridge, it was named "Imagawa-yaki".
