◎Correspondent Visit to Shopping Street (18th)◎

Lively and convenient / Kachidoki Sun Square Store

In 1940, Kachidokibashi, which connects Tsukiji and Tsukishima (Kachidoki), was completed in 1940 for the transfer of customers I to scheduled for the Expo in Harumi and Toyosu.

Since then, before the war, there has been a restaurant area along the street from Kachidokibashi.

This time, we visited the shop "Izakaya Kappo cuisine" Yamani "" by Yoshimitsu Ishii, chairman of the "Kachidoki Sun Square Store Association", and talked about it.

ck0915_11060701.jpg

Mr. Yoshimitsu Ishii, Chairman of the Kachidoki Sun Square Store Association

Q. History of the establishment of Kachidoki Sun Square

ck0915_11060702.jpg
Front of Kachidoki Sansquare (post office on the second floor, right subway Kachidoki Station)

<Chairman> In 1996, the urban redevelopment building "Kachidoki Sun Square" was completed on the left side of the intersection of Harumi-dori St. and Kiyosumi-dori across Kachidokibashi. The shopping district along Harumi-dori St. entered the first basement floor of Kachidoki Sun Square (directly connected to Kachidoki Station on the subway Oedo Line), the first and second floors, and it has been 15 years as soon as possible.

Q. What is the size and characteristics of the store association?

<Chairman> There are a total of 43 stores (11 basement floors, 18 stores on the first floor, 14 stores on the second floor). There are many occupations with 24 restaurants, there are izakayas, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. There are 13 retail stores including supermarkets, 6 service stores, including public services such as post offices and bank ATM corners, etc. It is very convenient because there are stores necessary for daily life.

Q. What about the customer segment?

<Chairman> Customers can see from multi-layered districts, from those who have been to familiar stores for a long time, to the daily shopping of office workers in nearby business districts and new residents of recently built condominiums.

<Chairman> Izakaya Kappo cuisine Yamani stores still use taxis from across the river, especially from the Tsukiji and Shimbashi districts (Asahi Shimbun, Dentsu).

ck0915_11060703.jpg

Q. What is the service of the store association?

<Chairman> Although the store association has not launched a special unified image campaign, it also includes public services such as post offices and ATMs, and is integrated with the local community through daily commercial activities. ck0915_11060704.jpg

Q. What about differentiation from neighboring shopping streets?

<Chairman> Recently, large-scale commercial facilities have also entered the neighborhood, but it has returned to its original state in a few months, taking advantage of the features of each store to strive for the convenience of customers as much as possible, We are waiting for a recovery.
Especially for merchandise stores, the luxury orientation is Ginza, and popular items tend to flow to the nearest mass retailer, and each store is dedicated to creating characteristics and characteristics.

<Chairman> The convenience of transportation is located in the most convenient corner area in the Kachidoki area, has good subway, metropolitan bus, and Edo bus, and there are parking lots and underground bicycle parking lots nearby, making it very convenient for customers from remote areas. Has become.

<Correspondent> The area corresponding to the underground plaza next to the building is in the building street, and I felt "comfort" and "easy" in the direction of a circular restaurant. When I thought that Japanese lantern would be lit in the evening, I wanted to ask again.
ck0915_11060705.jpg

Q. What about annual events and events from July to August?

<Chairman> There is a mood to refrain from flashy events such as festivals, such as the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster, as well as the cancellation of the Tokyo Bay Fireworks Festival. In particular, many of the restaurants, which account for the majority, are struggling, and we are considering with the authorities in charge of the ward office to actively promote product campaigns, etc., which also support disaster areas while sharing wisdom with members.

Q. What is your future aspirations?

<Chairman> We are planning to celebrate the 15th anniversary in the fall, and at the same time, we will do our best to expect the public's economy to improve quickly and increase the number of visitors day and night.

Postscript of the interview
Mr. Ishii is the owner of the izakaya Kappo cuisine Yamani, and even though the shop was in the evening, he spent valuable time during the day and carefully answered various questions. Thank you very much.

Everyone working in Chuo-ku, locals, recent development of new commercial facilities continues, and you will be able to see once in this `` Kachidoki area '' full of boom, and be admired with me for the revival of the regional transformation. Do you not?

In search of the bustle of the wholesale district

[Shitamachi Tom] May 31, 2011 09:00

Speaking of the neighborhoods of Yokoyamacho and Bakurocho in Chuo-ku, it is a well-known wholesale district in Tokyo.

Even now, when I visit during the day, the liveliness flows from various shops, and I feel that it is a "business town".

In front of Bakuroyokoyama station. JPG

As soon as you get out of [Bakuro Yokoyama] station on the Toei Shinjuku Line, it is the entrance to Yokoyamacho's wholesaler.

[Bakurocho] The name is also used as the station name of the JR Sobu Express Line, but according to a book of history, Ieyasu Tokugawa placed Makata (Hakuro) around here when he entered Edo.

Yokoyamacho Street. JPG

In addition, [Yokoyamacho] is said to come from the name of Yokoyama, a family member who had a place of knowledge in this area during the Edo period.

Mainly cash wholesale stores are mainly used, but recently there are many stores that sell them to the general public, so it's fun to enjoy the atmosphere while walking around.

However, it's just a businessman's town.

I think it is the manners of customers to go in and out while watching the situation so as not to disturb the shop.

You can buy a little towel or towel at once, get out-of-home jacket cheaply, and enjoy it at your own discretion.

If possible, we recommend that you take a leisurely stroll in the afternoon on weekdays.

◎Correspondents visit shopping streets (17th) ◎ A nostalgic and relaxing town with new discoveries / amazake Yokocho Shopping Association

amazake Yokocho Store Association, a nostalgic city with new discoveries

004.JPG

amazake Yokocho is the street that goes east along the middle of Ningyocho-dori toward Meijiza.

As the name was known throughout Japan in the TV drama "Newcomer" last year.

On March 9, we asked Mr. amazake Yokocho Store Association at 2-chome Nihonbashi Ningyocho.

Mr. Seiji Sasaki of Sasaki liquor store, chairman of the store association, met happily while he was busy.

009.JPG

Sasaki liquor store has been founded in 1914 for 100 years.

Q: Could you tell me about the history of the store association?

Chairman: At first, it was for collecting streetlights installed on the street. Then, in 1982, when the streetlights became under the jurisdiction of the ward, we formed the "amazake Yokocho Fellowship". The Federation is the 31or 32nd member of the Association in 2009, so it is a newcomer as a society.

Q: Please tell me the area of the store association and the number of members.

Chairman: In 2009, there were 63 shops on both sides of the street from Ningyocho Dori to Hamachogawa Ryokudo.

Last year, we entered the street from Hamacho Ryokudo to Kiyosubashi-dori (here is Hamacho 2-chome), which is an extension of the street, and became 69 stores.

Q: What is the classification of shops?

Chairman: Is there about half of shops related to food and drinks, and half of miscellaneous goods and clothing? As you can see if you walk, you can meet a shop that is very varied.

Q: I think there are a lot of historical shops.

Chairman: Iwai Tsuzura store is the oldest on this street. It was from the end of the Edo period.

There are many shops from the Meiji era to the Taisho era, including Shino Tasushi (1877).

Q: How about the customer's layer?

Chairman: Ningyocho, Suitengu, and Meijiza customers often visited, so if anything, the elderly were the center, but the effect of last year's TV drama "Newcomer" increased the number of young people . There are many people who come from Hokkaido or Kansai area. In addition, many people from China (homeland), Taiwan and Korea are also visible. The power of TV is amazing.

Q: Could you tell me the appeal of the shopping street?

Chairman: The shops on this street are mainly private shops, so each shop is working hard and demonstrating its individuality to excite the city. As a result, it is loved by everyone as a town where you can feel nostalgic, relax and heal your heart.

Q: Please let me know if there are any events that will be held in this shopping street soon.

Chairman: Every year, the cherry blossom festivalcherryblossom is held as a store association.

This year, we are planning to serve you in amazake on March 27.

Also, those who get a fortune ticket at the store association can have a fun fortune.

Please join us.

The place is from 11:00 to 13:00 at the statue of Benkei on the Green Road.

Let's take a look at the poster.

007.JPG

By the way, the chairman's cherry blossom forecast information this year seems to be March 25!

Q: Finally, please tell us your future aspirations and passions.

Chairman: First of all, in terms of infrastructure development, Ningyocho-dori and Kiyosubashi-dori have been completely cleaned up, so next is amazake Yokocho-dori. I would like to ask the mayor and related departments.

Regarding the activities of the store association, I would like to take from the current "line" to the activities in the "face" including Ningyocho and Hamacho. The Sky Tree will be completed soon, and Akihabara is near, so I would like to consider an approach to attracting tourists.

In terms of culture and history, Matsutaro Kawaguchi's "Meiji Ichidai Woman" is appealing that this is the main family, and I would like to make monuments related to it on the green path, the site of the Hamacho River. (On the road along the Sumida River from Ryogoku Bridge to Hamacho Park, there is a signpost of "Hamacho Riverside Street", but it is.)

However, for the whole city, I would like to leave the atmosphere of the downtown area.

pencil Sweeping

A wealth of experience and knowledge, such as the Hamacho River on the day, Rikidoyama Jim, movie theaters, and vaudeville, were presented one after another, and I forgot the passage of time. I'm sorry that I can't introduce you.

I had a good time interacting with Mr. Sasaki's rough personality.

I would like to thank you again for the further development of the amazake Yokocho Store Association.

Thank you very much.

◎Correspondent's visit to the store association (16th) ◎ This year, [Kan YEAR Year] / Muromachi Odorikai

◎Correspondent Visit to Shopping Street (16th)◎

This year, [Kan YEAR Year] / Muromachi Odorikai

The Nihonbashi area has been bustling and developed as the most popular downtown area since the Edo period.

Located in the Nihonbashi Kitazume area, Nihonbashi Muromachi area is home to long-established and companies from that time.

You have put it together

Muromachi Odori-kai: Yamamoto "Muromachi Odorikai" is a compilation of that: Mr. Yasuto Yamamoto, Executive Vice President of Yamamoto-noriten, Inc. (* The character of the chairman's name "Thailand" is officially the kanji "water" with the head of "self" in the "volume".)

ck0903_201103091.jpg

Q: When did you start your business?
Chairman: I guess it's around 1955 ... yes, 1960.

ck0903_201103092.jpg

Q: What is the range of "Muromachi Odorikai"?
Chairman: 1-chome (pointing the map) is here, right? 2-chome is this, 3-chome is here, but it is not very active now, but it is up to 4-chome. 1-chome was originally called "Muromachi 1-chome-kai", and the association itself is also a member of "Muromachi Odori-kai".

Q: It's really the center of commerce that has been around since the Edo period.

Chairman: Well, it was also the center of finance. The current Bank of Japan was originally "Koza", and there are still many financial industries in this area.
I wonder if such a flow of finance and the development of commerce are also related.
The Mitsui Kimono Store (now Mitsukoshi) also started from the kimono store, and the financial industry (former Mitsui Bank, former Mitsui Trust Bank) started.

Q: Even though I grew up in Kyushu, there are large shops (Odana) with the name of a store that I have been used to since I was a child, but which is the oldest store?

Here, the chairman himself said, "Somewhere ...", [Toto norenkai] = a meeting where 53 long-established stores with a history of more than 100 years, founded in Tokyo from Edo to the early Meiji era = I brought a member list.
Chairman: ・・ ・ For example, "Senbikiya Sohonten", here is 1834 (Tenbo 5), of which ("Yamamoto-noriten") is 1849 (Kaei 2), and "Shigeru" is 1688 (Genroku Gen), and "Kuroeya" beyond that street is 1689 (Genroku 2). "Eitaro" Mr. ... 1857 (Ansei 4), "Haibara" was 1806 (Culture 3). There is a fan called "Ibasen" behind it, but it was during the Tensho era (1573-1592).
"Ninben" is also more than 300 years in 1699 (Genroku 12).

ck0903_201103093.jpg ck0903_201103095.jpg

ck0903_201103094.jpg ck0903_201103096.jpg

Q: Not only in the 1800s, there are many long-established stores that have been around for a long time.
Chairman: Around Muromachi Odori, there are only shops that belong to the members of the Toto Norenkai, so if you look at it as a whole, there may be older shops. I'll give you this (and I got a list of members of "Toto norenkai").

Q: Not only marine products, but also various things were sold.
Chairman: In the Edo period, there was a fish shore in Kitazume, Nihonbashi, and this area was surrounded by many rivers and moats, where marine products and specialty products from all over the country were gathered. I guess the business has also developed because it is the knee of Edo Castle.

Q: Do you have any unique events or services of "Muromachi Odorikai"?

Chairman: I don't think I'm doing it as a whole.

Q: Nihonbashi is "Nihonbashi Tour" (http://www.ninben.co.jp/meguri/), historic sites and remain tours, "Consortiums" (http://www.edo-tokyo.info/) In the fall, the Chuo-ku Tourism Association's "City Walking Tour" is sponsored by various groups, and all of which seem to be popular.

Chairman: I don't do it in particular, but one of the biggest business involved in the business is the Nihonbashi / Kyobashi Festival, which is held every fall.
A parade walks between Nihonbashi and Kyobashi.
At first, a rickshaw started led by the mayor, and there were brass bands such as elementary schools and girls' halls in the city, Awa Odori ...

Q: Yes, I know!
Chairman: There seems to be a "Korean Communications Envoy", which seems to have been going on since Hideyoshi's era, and it seems that during the Edo era it was also for audiences with Shoguns.
For the past few years, we have received entries from women wearing kimonos, and have them go to a parade or take a commemorative photo in front of the Bank of Japan. Recently, there are few opportunities to wear kimonos, so I would like to offer you a little opportunity to wear them. Nihonbashi is a place where the culture of [Japanese] is strong.
I've been doing this festival about 38 times more, but "Muromachi Odorikai" and "Chuo Odorikai" on the Kyobashi side cooperate. Every other year, the chairman of the executive committee and the vice chairman are replaced. Last year, "Chuo Odorikai" was the chairman of the executive committee, so this year I am "Muromachi Odorikai" chair.
That's why this is the biggest annual business of Muromachi Odorikai
http://www.nikkyo.net/hyottoko/index.html (2010 Oedo Kazuki Parade)

Q: Speaking of the event ... It will be celebrating the [100th anniversary of the bridge] after Nihonbashi became Ishibashi on April 3rd.

Chairman: That's right. In April, you can have a [dock] at the end of Nihonbashi.
ck0903_201103097.jpg

Chairman: On April 2, "Nihonbashi boat boarding" was called "Koedo" in Tochigi City, Katori City in Chiba Prefecture, Kawagoe City in Saitama Prefecture, etc., but in the past it was connected by water transportation . From there, there is a [Boat Transportation Festival] that arrives at Nihonbashi's dock by boat and sells special products that have been carried to reproduce [Nihonbashi Fish Bank].
Shimanekan There are antenna shops such as "Nara Mahorobakan" and Yamagata Prefecture ... "locally grown and consumed" or [counter traffic city] that collects things from various places.
The parade on the 3rd starts with a tape cut by a family of three generations of parents and children who have both couples. And the shrine came out. Classic cars will come out, and more than 40 sets of armor corps will come out from Kawagoe.

Q: The mikoshi is still from the Sanno Festival or Kanda festival.

Chairman: Yeah. I'm representative of shrine parishioners of Kanda Myojin.
Q: Is this [100th anniversary of the bridge] event scheduled to be held throughout this year?
Chairman: Yes, I'll do this year as "Year".
It has a great meaning to be able to do this [dock].
There are many requests to "use it." Around Asakusa, it will be possible to tour such as the Sky Tree that can be done next year.
However, because the water depth of the Nihonbashi River is shallow, large boats cannot enter. In the past when there were no highways, there were 60 to 70 docks around here. That's why I went to Asakusa in about 30 minutes. I'd like to revive this kind of thing by boat on the side of Senso-ji Temple.

Q: By all means, I hope you will come back!
Chairman: Every year at the end of July [Bridge Wash], this year we are thinking of a big event for this day (I've heard a little plan, but it seems that it's still secret ... I'm sorry).
April [100th Anniversary of Bridge] Details of events and other events ...
http://www.nihonbashi-meikyou.jp/ (Nonbashi “Nihonbashi” Preservation Society)

Q: [Bridge washing] The Nihonbashi Preservation Society is hosted by the Nihonbashi Preservation Society, but what kind of interaction do you have with Muromachi Odorikai?

Chairman: This [100th anniversary of the bridge] event is mainly held by the Nihonbashi Preservation Society, and there is also the Nihonbashi Renaissance Committee, and I am also a director of both.
Well, there are many businesses that focus on such places.

http://www.nihonbashi-renaissance.com/ (Nihonbashi Renaissance Committee)

Q: Finally, could you tell us about the appeal of "Muromachi Odorikai"?

Chairman: Well ... it's a parade of [Nihonbashi / Kyobashi Festival]! This year, I am the chairman of the executive committee and [100th anniversary of the bridge]!
There are plenty of events in particular this year, so please look forward to it! I guess.

Q: Thank you very much for your precious time during your busy schedule today.

=Edit postscript =
He served as chairman of "Muromachi Odorikai", director of "Namabashi" Nihonbashi "preservation society" and "Nihonbashi Renaissance Committee", and was involved in the operation of "MetroLink" and cooperated with organizations that organize various tours. Please cooperate with events hosted by Chuo-ku ...
Nihonbashi Muromachi, Nihonbashi district ... No, for Chuo-ku, Chairman Yamamoto himself, of course, felt how great the existence of "Muromachi Odorikai" and each group involved was. Was.

In addition to my lack of study, I also talked about uncoordinated questions that fly here and there, with a gentle glance and carefully one by one (sometimes, go to a separate room to get materials). Was.

I wrote a booklet about the correspondent blog of the previous year. If you bring "Chuo-ku", "Oh, our house is listed! It's Kitty's can." (Mapo ☆'s article) and I was very pleased. In order to convey such a friendly personality, I wrote it in a form that does not overly edit the words as much as possible.

There was no omission in the example, and the time I received was quite over, but 15 minutes later, "Let's guide the store if it's about 5 minutes away!" Although there was a plan, I was guided to the store on the 1st floor.

I was so honored to meet you, but I was filled with gratitude and excitement.

Thank you very much.

(At the end, when I took a picture of the person himself, he said, "Please put it small." I'm going to make it as small as possible while having a desire to introduce it to everyone (pictured at the beginning)! Mr. Yamamoto, please forgive me ...)
At a later date, I will post the information of "Yamamoto-noriten" on "Corresist Blog".

"Challenge! "With the flag: Kachidoki Shoeikai

2010.02.08_kachidoki1.jpg

From Tsukiji, cross Kachidokibashi, go down the slope, and there is Kachidoki Station on the Oedo Line.

Today, I visited the office of Ikuo Tanaka of Kachidoki Shoeikai in the surrounding area.

Mr. Tanaka was appointed the second chairman of the Kachidoki Shoeikai three years ago, and his achievements in this community have been trusted and expected as a leader in a wide variety of activities. An Edo kid born in Chitose-cho, Honjo, who has the first certificate of the Chuo-ku Tourism Certification.

karaoke We asked you about the history of Kachidoki Shoeikai.

Kachidoki Shoeikai is a store association in which more than 70 shops scattered widely around Kachidoki Station on the Oedo Line and Kachidoki 1-chome to 5-chome and Toyomi cooperate.
In this area, as well as before the Oedo Line was built, large tower condominiums and office buildings have been constructed one after another recently, and the transition over the past few years is a sense of the past and present.

Around this area, which was said to be a downtown shopping street that sells fresh products around the 1930s, the old-fashioned shopping street lined up on one street as the environment has been improved, such as repeated road widening work. Has disappeared. The current Kachidoki Shoeikai was formed by the two merchant associations, which previously competed in this area, in response to this trend, in 1987.

2010.02.08_kachidoki5.jpgThe Shoeikai has a wide range of shops, from soba shops that have been running for 100 years since the Meiji era to convenience stores, but it reflects the history of development in this area and forms a cohesive shopping street. It is not a situation where shops are scattered in a fairly wide area.

The fact that it is not this "one street shopping street" is a difficult place.
Many people visit and visit when events such as visiting bridges hosted by Chuo-ku and visiting the grave of Tokasha 19th Tokasha are held, but it is a normal shopping street It is difficult to have something like a sales sale all over the shopping street that can be expected to attract customers.

However, in order to respond to the needs of various residents, we are exploring ways to go beyond social gatherings and debates where shopkeepers gather to meet the needs of various residents, how to set out their own direction as a Shoeikai.

karaoke What kind of activities are you doing at Kachidoki Shoeikai?

I would like to introduce some of them even though we can't do a shopping street sale.

One of the events hosted by Shoeikai is the Kachidoki Festival. This is a store opening event such as flea markets and stalls, where not only Kachidoki Shoeikai member stores but also Tsukishima and Tsukiji participate from schools and children's centers.
Last year, Kachidoki 1-chome Daini Children's Park, which will be the venue, could not be used for construction and could not be held, but this year, when this park reopened, the "13th Kachidoki Festival" will be revived. The date is undecided so far, but we are aiming to hold it from May to June. Please look forward to it.

Also, "Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine Reisai Festival in Tsukuda". Especially at the main festival (early August this year), a mikoshi comes to Kachidoki, but the Shoeikai provides a rest area.

In addition, the Kachidoki Shoeikai store also opens at the Tokyo Bay Fireworks Festival, which is held every August in Harumi. Here, I'm worried that even if it's just fried, it's "handmade" as much as possible.

In addition, we are considering plans with various ideas!

karaoke I heard about the chairman's "hot thoughts".
I love the word "challenge." We always write "Challenge!" in the announcements to members! This flag will be raised high!

2010.02.08_kachidoki3.jpgKachidoki Station has more than 80,000 passengers a day, but many are probably new residents of newly built condominiums in the surrounding area. I believe that the biggest challenge in the future is to bring more attractive shops that attract these people and shops that can accurately meet demand.

karaoke Do you have any new initiatives in a difficult environment?
Among the members of the Shoeikai, the number of shops that the second and third generations has been succeeded has increased. There are many stubborn people who do not experience office workers, but the passion for loving the city is as good as anyone. I have a hard time as chairman, but I would like to discuss a lot and share the consensus of the new era. I look forward to the vitality of the youth club of the Shoeikai.

In addition, we launched a homepage as Kachidoki Shoeikai to disseminate information. Due to various circumstances, the update of the content is currently delayed, but we plan to renew it. At the end of last year, about 40 stores were introduced on the Bay Network (regional cable broadcasting) and were very popular. We will continue to work actively in the future.

karaoke What do you recommend?

There are many small restaurants in Shoeikai, but every shop is not flashy, but there are quite a lot of repeaters because you can enjoy the atmosphere of drinking at home.

I'll recommend it. Please go out!

pencil Sweeping

It was a time to be impressed by the enthusiasm of the chairman's "emotion, heat, and knowledge". I was able to understand the times, the city and the citizens a little.

When I went outside, near noon ... the forest of the building, fashion, people who come and go ... I felt again the city where the 19th and 21st centuries (Meiji, Taisho era, Showa, Heisei) live together.

Mr. Tanaka, thank you very much for your cooperation in your busy schedule.

Entrance to Ginza Minami / Ginza Nine Stores Association

I am glad that I can become a correspondent of the Chuo-ku Tourism Association and know the stores I did not know before, and I can introduce them to everyone. .

"Ginza Nine Stores Association" is a shopping street that faces Ginza 8-chome Gomon Street as the gateway to Ginza Minami and consists of tenants of Ginza Nine SC.

It is located in the middle of a delta consisting of Shimbashi, a popular commercial area, Ginza, which dominates the brand, and a huge complex city, Shiodome.

When it opened, it was called "Shimbashi Center".

It opened 50 years ago on November 3, 1961.

A highway was built in the place where it was a river, and it seems that it began with landowners and new tenants operating on the riverside by land readjustment.

Its length is under the highway, extending from Sotobori-dori St. to Showa-dori.

It is divided into Building No. 1, Building No. 2, and Building No. 3, and walking inside will delight your eyes.

Added ...

In Ginza Nine, there are shoe shops, beauty salons, men's clothing, women's clothing, bags, burgers, hobby stamps, Japanese accessories, and silk Western products in addition to dining halls, markets, discount stores.

I was greeted by three sides and was born and raised in Chuo-ku, with a polite explanation over the time and I would like to write more and more, but in the future I would like to visit the stores in "Ginza Nine" slowly and post each article on my blog.
