The rainy season in Chuo-ku is at once along with the consecutive holidays of the sea day! It's finally the long-awaited summer, but it's tremendous heat even if you walk around the city. Chuo Ward also has rich greenery such as the Hamarikyu Garden and the Hamacho Green Road, but the commercial district from Ginza to Nihonbashi has few greenery, probably because there are many buildings.
By the way, we will have a late lunch at Nihonbashi and return to Chuo-dori toward Kyobashi. Chuo-dori is the Hana Kaido, which has flower beds near the sidewalk.
(There is also a blog post on May 14, 2011 (/archive / 2011/05/post-793.html) by correspondent ○ Umbrellas, and it is a wonderful place where you can enjoy seasonal flowers, but unfortunately there is almost no shade of the street trees, and when you suddenly wipe off the sweat while thinking that it is a bit hard to walk in front of you, there is a rich space. 。 。 Yes, it's the hill of Kyobashi! Not only the sidewalk along Chuo-dori and Kajibashi-dori, but also the veranda from the first basement floor to the fifth floor of the building is covered with green trees and flowers, so it feels like a resort (on the first floor there is also a specialty store for outdoor goods, so it seems that you can go out for mountain climbing as it is (laughs).
By the way, many correspondents have already written blog posts, so I would like you to see them for details, but this wonderful space is a 24-story (124 meters high) skyscraper called Tokyo Square Garden. The former Katakura Industries headquarters building, which was originally built in the Taisho era, was built in this place, but it was rebuilt and opened in 2013. Central FM 84.0MHz program "I love you! Chuo-ku is recorded in the studio on the first basement floor, and there is also the Kyobashi Environmental Station (Chuo Ward Environmental Information Center) on the sixth floor of the building.
"Kyobashi Environmental Station" is located on the lush "Kyobashi Hill". 。 。
In the past, I wrote a blog entitled "Transforming Kyobashi District: Marriott and Meijiya-(April 11, 2014)" to introduce our efforts to improve the attractiveness and value of the region by taking advantage of the Historic buildings (/archive/2014/04/post-1962.html), and Kyobashi is also taking the lead in improving the local environment in Japan.
In Chuo-ku, in June 2012, the “Chuo-ku Eco Town Initiative (http://www.city.chuo.lg.jp/kankyo/seisaku/kankyotopikkusu/ecotownkousou.html)” was launched in June 2012.
The Tokyo station square area has been designated as a business model area as one of the two model districts for formulating and specifically promoting the concept.
The Kyobashi Environmental Station is one of the important projects for creating an eco-town in the Tokyo station square area, with the specific role of providing "information and dissemination of cutting-edge environmental technologies". In addition to exhibiting and introducing by companies that are actively involved in initiatives related to environmental technologies, there are also a wide range of lectures and events for residents of the city who are interested in the environment. With the move to eco-town centering on the Kyobashi Environmental Station, I returned to work in the afternoon, hoping that Chuo-ku will become a green and livable city, not just Tokyo Square Garden.

The flower artist "The World Exhibition of Shogo Kariyazaki" is being held at the 7th floor gallery of the new building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store.
The period is from Wednesday, July 22 to August 3 (Monday).
This year is said to be 400 years after Rinpa and 400 years after Ieyasu Tokugawa's death. In this "World Exhibition", from the Muromachi era to the Edo era, a corner inspired by each era was set up, and Shogo Kariyazaki was flowers. Expresses the "world of beauty" of each era.
The venue has no choice but to tell in words because photography is prohibited, but it is gorgeous and beautiful.
The combination of "living flowers" and "withered driftwood" is exciting. It's like a monument
Bold, delicate, and the color is really beautiful.
The event schedule at the Central Hall on the 1st floor of the main building is also scheduled from Wednesday, July 22 to 28 (Tue).
Demonstrations, talk shows, mini-arrangement classes and autograph sessions will also be held.

The temperature is 35 degrees Celsius, and a typhoon is coming from the south. In midsummer, we went south on Chuo-dori, passed COREDO Nihonbashi, and walked a little further. We stopped by "Haibara" who moved our head office on May 20.
The design of the outline of the long-established and building that conveys the traditional paper techniques that have been going on for more than 200 years. It's stylish and eye-catching. In the show window on the right side of the entrance, you can see a cool fan. When you enter inside, the design with a bright overall color tone is very beautiful.
Eventually, the meeting of Nihonbashi Workers; In Asaga, he was on stage as Maehiyaku
I met Mr. Nakamura, a public relations officer, for the first time, and heard a detailed story.
Thank you very much.
*In 1806 in the late Edo period, he left as a small paper wholesaler and worked on Chiyogami and woodcut printing. *Saigo Takamori, Kaishu Katsu, and others also use Haibara's Japanese paper to write on Japanese paper. It seems to have been a kind of status symbol at that time. *The design was requested to top places such as Kyosai Kawanabe Shibata Zeshin. *Civilization and enlightenment in the Meiji era, the export of Japanese paper, the import of Western paper, and the first Japanese paper was made in Japan. *The Haibara Record Paper, which was successfully developed during the Taisho era, was installed in Apollo 11 and used for lunar recording.
By the way, this year, I'm going to write a summer visit with Mr. Haibara's belly stationery set.
By the way, long-established people seem to use their English names as NIHOMBASHI. In today's style (in modern grammar), it is mixed like NIHONBASHI, After all, I think it's M that feels the atmosphere.
If you walk a little, it's Mr. Takashimaya. I walk while drinking water.

It seems that this year's Earth Ox Day is July 24 and August 5.
It was crowded near the day of the Ox, so I went a little earlier.
Nodaiwa, which I wanted to go for a long time, is a long-established store that has been in business for 200 years.
Actually, I wanted to go to the Ginza store, but only Sunday I can go.
Both the Ginza store and the main store in Azabu are closed on Sunday.
That's why I remembered the special dining room on the 8th floor of Nihonbashi Takashimaya.
It's a department store, so of course it's open on Sunday as well.
However, I went on July 12 and waited for 90 minutes. 。 。
The special dining room contains the Imperial Hotel, Yamatoya Sangen, and Nodaiwa.
I feel that there were overwhelmingly many people who were eating eel in terms of time.
And the special dining room here is often replaced with tea.
At the end, Hojicha was also available, and the service was very good.
I also ordered a boiled rice with eel weight.
It was a hot day, so it was cool and delicious.
The method of grilling eel is different between Kansai and Kanto.
Since I came here, I often eat Kanto-style eels.
Both are delicious with different goodness~ (*^^*)

By the way, we continue the city walk along Chuo-dori, this time we are heading south. You will find Takashimaya on your right and the bookstore Maruzen Nihonbashi store on your left. Maruzen is on the third floor of the Western-style book corner, but at World Antique Plaza, here is the world. Until August 4th, an old book exhibition is being held under the title "Japan knitted in Siebold".
Speaking of Siebold, since 1823, he has been visiting Japan for six years as a doctor of Dutch trading post on Dejima, Nagasaki. I have the impression of being a first-class foreigner who analyzed Japan and spread it both domestically and internationally. From the literature left by Siebold, you can see the cultural climate and life of the Japanese in the late Edo period visually. In addition, there is a picture of the scenery around Nihonbashi in the past. Certainly, it's the appearance (report) to the general. I think it was around Ienari Tokugawa. At that time, it was "Nagasakiya" per 3-chome Muromachi. I think I've stayed there. There must have been many Japanese friends in Siebold, To interact with overseas, you must be able to speak first, make friends. I don't think it's the same that this is the secret.
How about Hayashi rice to go home? This origin is often said, It is derived from the simmered beef and vegetables made by Yuteki Hayashi, the founder of Maruzen.
